Believe it or not, live octopus is considered a delicacy in Korea and is actually much better tasting live than when it is cooked!

I respect your culture and I’ve always respected you as well and I understand that it must that very good but I googled and it showed that when they are being eaten alive they still feel all the pain and suffering and god it must be very very painful, so what is your point of view on this, because that unnecessary pain could easily be avoided by just killing it so do you think it’s fair to cause so much suffering to a live creature just for good taste?
I do not mean to sound rude at all, and I understand its how an eco system works but my only concern is that eating it alive is just unimaginably painful for the octopus so why not like kill it first? ( I apologise I don’t know much about how seafood works and I don’t know if octopuses can be killed and stuff but even if they can’t be killed, I still would like to know your opinion on giving a creature such a painful death, and once again, NOT bashing Korean culture at all, it’s just something I would to know )
just for clarification, if the octopus itself dead and is it just the tentacles moving now? because if that’s the case that I think it’s not it’s the same as what I was talking about above, because the head was separated in the start when she served you so

i watched the video and saw that the lady cut the head off so technically the octopus is dead, it just that the nerves still move around for a bit

In philippines we used to eat octupus raw too. We call it kinilaw in ilocano dialect. And its more tastier if its raw.
