Colchuk is nothing short of amazing. If you want to hike in the Alpine Wilderness without a permit start with Colchuk, 8 Mile Lake, Lake Ingalls, and the list goes on.
Wow Bryce great video! I could not have been happier with the crew we had. Good people on an epic trip! Thanks for making it this fat old guys trip of a lifetime, y'all made that trip even better! Cheers!😊
@@DannyJSchaefer You as well. Was just out in Joshua Tree, headed to CO in August for Ultimate nationals w/my Son whose team is playing, going early to do some hiking and try and get him acclimated,
Yeah, I was just looking yesterday to see if I accidentally unsubscribed or something since I haven’t seen him post anything in a while. It’s awesome to have him back. Can’t wait to see the next part.
Very, very cool. I’ve heard about the enchantments, but didn’t know much. Probably not something I’ll be able to do. If it was an actual trail over that pass, yes, but the huge boulders, not so much.
It was a brutal hike for me, I was 64 and at the time had a really bad knee ( had it replaced in Feb of this year) Slow and steady was the key for me to keep up with these young fellas! I have to say though, it was was worth all the cuts, scrapes, bruises, insect bites and pain to experience this hike!
WTH? Its been so long without any trip videos. Last i knew you had a back injury, then your scaling mountains!!! Freaking Amazing!!!! Welcome back bud!
Congratulations, just had a Wave hike permit in AZ myself and felt lucky with like 6% chance. Hope the back is doing ok for ya and glad you made it on an amazing trip.
Hello 👋 Bryce, greetings from Northern California. It's good to see you again. Congrats on winning the backpacking trip of a lifetime. That is certainly some Spectacular looking terrain. Thank you for sharing this amazing video. Stay safe out there. 🤗 👋
Excellent! Thank you Bryce for sharing. 9:06 I see you found your spirit animal. Aside: I understand the Lottery's purposes but still, it's getting a bit unnecessary and excessive. Similarly it's almost impossible to get hired as a forest ranger in those places. There has to be a better balancing act.
We did the entire Enchantments as a day hike and man it was the best day of my life. Im praying to win that lottery some day so I can go back and take my time and enjoy it all even more.
Hey Do you have your itinerary you did for this trip? What was the place you put on the zone entrance was it the place you mentioned in the video? putting in for the lottery right now and want to get it right:) Thanks so much! Amazing vid as always!!
That is the lottery! Lost every single spin. Me and my buddy showed up and were second in line for the drawing. Lost every single turn. End up staying at a lake east of colchuk lake. Stewart lake I think. Had to day hike to asgard pass. Talk about steep! 2k feet in less than a mile! Then dayhiked back to our camp.
I understand the reason for the permits but unfortunately many will never be able to see it. After seeing recent destruction in the back country from irresponsible hikers this will only get worse.
I already regret putting that in the video. Lol.. that cup was like 99% much clean I just didn't want my morning coffee to have food taste to it. . The amount of food that went into the lake is less than a spat loogie . 😆
Dude...If you're into hiking with people you never met....I'll take the pepsi challenge with my Eastern Sierras 6 days a week and twice on Sunday over anywhere else. While Washington is very similar and fabulous there nothing like skipping the 12 million homeless for the desert towns of Lonepine, Independence, Bishop, and Mammoth (not desert) I've got passes for most of the summer. Where do you wanna go? In August I may do the first leg of the Sierra High Route...take your pick. Peace
Nope the tents came out unscathed. However, the Mama goat took a liken to my son Jesse and followed him to our next camp.... it will be a long time until he lives that down. :)
@@HikingwithGus Love it! Me personally I would own that. I’ve never had any contact with wild goats but it’s amazing how much like farm goats they are. I guess just where you were at they have no need to fear humans. Other hikers probably feed them too. Congratulations on being chosen! Can’t say I’m not a little jealous; I would still rather hit the Powerball. One love…
I saw that. Not great example of LNT for YT but realistically if he dumped it out on the ground next rainstorm the residue would get washed into the lake anyway. I doubt the goats care. I never bother cleaning my pot until I get home anyway; a little ramen residue ain’t going to bother my morning coffee.
@@MeOutside Your right about the rainwater runoff and I rarely clean my pot until I get home, unless I've cooked Szechuan something or beans/rice/andouille that's tater will flavor everything else. But a quick poop trowel hole 200 feet+ away from water will handle the breakdown of most minor food particulates. I carry a 1oz S2S 10 liter bucket for putting out left-behind campfires, that helps with keeping water clean too.
There was literally no food in that pot. I just didn't want my morning coffee to taste like food. The impact of that was less than peeing on the ground or spitting a loogies. Not like I was scrubbing a pan of bacon grease. Makes for a good discussion though, where is the line? Setting up a tent anywhere is 100% leaving a trace, same with 1000s of people hiking a trail.
these kind of videos about permits makes me so happy that we have the "allemanrätten", right to roam in the nordic countries. i don't want to have a permit for enjoying nature. America - land of the free!
It's necessary to protect wildness areas. As someone from the State of Washington, I've seen so many wildness areas I grew up going to getting destroyed by tourists leaving their trash everywhere, among other destructive acts, and harming wildlife. I know people in Scandinavia and Finland tend to not have such vile behavior, but in the U.S. it is a major problem.
Really! 6 months with only one video, and you leave us all wondering how your back surgery went….and then you come back with a trip of a lifetime!! How rude! Lol
The fact that Americans aren't allowed, in their own country, to go on a multi-day backpacking trip and camp out wherever they please, it's ridiculous! Great video, nonetheless!

Alive and well! Back in the game
You Tubers That Hike don’t suck. You guys are a gem. Great grouo. Spectacular area
The sawtooths rivals the enchantments and there's no lottery system. Great video! I love Danny's channel!
Congratulations and awesome on a lottery like this in a lifetime
Another awesome video
Great video. Thanks for taking us along. Glad to see you back out.
Congrats, man!!!! I live in WA and have yet to get into the enchantments.

You're editing of this trip was fantastic! Glad to see this trip vid finally come out.
Yeah he did an incredible job on this video, even if I did age a bit waiting for it! LOL
The Enchantments, one of my favorite places. Nice work with the part 1 video. Looking forward to part 2. Cheers!
I am so jealous.
And your videography skills are on point!

Amazing Climb & Scenery for sure

Walk-up permit for the win. Got one a couple years ago. Benefits of living close by.
That is awesome!
What a great looking trip! Glad you got the chance to take it! Is that a CS40 I see on your back?

Such an amazing adventure, thanks for sharing! Post-holed and dislocated my shoulder out at Stuart Lake in '21. Stay safe out there.
Totally awesome video!! Can’t wait for part 2!!
Great vid! I may have missed it but when last year was this? Wanted to correlate conditions with timeframe. Thanks
Awesome hike. I never hike around the enchantments but i have been to most of the alpine wilderness lakes .

I loved to watch a video of you on the Trail again and the Group seem so kool :)greetz from Germany

Amazing, happy for you! But a Coors Light? Coulda done better!! 😂
Lol atleast it's not a bud light!
@@jacobpoucher I was thinking the same… However, this could have been filmed before the Super Bowl. That would technically give him a pass.

How the Fly Creek going for you now?
Honestly havn't used it much but I will soon hopefully
How do you guys meet people? I want to go hiking with other but I'm socially challenged...
Glad to see you back. I noticed that you were drinking a Coor's light and not a Bud Light.

So much of the Cascades are just climb, climb, climb.
What month was this?
The second week in August....
Great views your lucky to get asked. 😊
تبارك الله عليك تحياتي لك من المغرب 👍👍
okay now i feel lucky after winning the lottery for the core on my first try !!!!
100% salt! Had that happen in the San Juan's. Deer stole both my trekking poles. I had to find them both, it took over an hour!
Lol you met those dudes on grinder man tell the truth
Grindr**
Is that why he kept leaving 20's outside out tents?

You’re better off doing the Everest base camp trek than to win this lottery lol
@0:43 Isn't that greater than 1% ???????
Yup... it is .
