Fun car, my parents just bought one. Hill descent control...it is for the Dutch mountains LOL. Big Citroën and Peugeot fan myself, this looks like a great little car. Last year I went from C5 V6 to a Pug 1007 1.6.
For a family of four people this little boy is just good enough for almost all the needs. It looks cool imho and it is safe enough, techie enough, comfortable enough, thirsty enough and with all the quirks is French enough. Modern Citroens have this happy face 🙃 that makes you happy 😊. Just the price point makes you grumpy 😡. Thanks for the great review and I wish you happy happy holidays.
Nobody complains about stupid VW design, but when it is about this beauty there is always some criticizer as soon as I scroll through the comments. That's why I adore Citroen, they will always provoke average people. Can't wait to introduce new C6 for Europe.
citroen design nowadays is stupid, vw is booooring, the new alpha romeos or some fiat designs (nowadays!) are very nice eg., some renault looks quite nice or some asians...
A nice and comfortable car. Fully loaded with all options, like the version in the video, it becomes a bit expensive, but it's available for much less. I like the well-composed suspension and smooth drive, the nice seats and also the touchscreen. No problems controlling heat and ventilation on it, it's large and clear. Design is awesome! Note that the car in the video has the optional orange pack with stripes on the third window, but the car can be bought without it. So plenty of customisation is available.
Great review as usual! Vehicle probably suited well to some of the not so well surfaced Irish roads. Quite a vote of confidence despite showing warts and all so to speak, that's what I call a balanced approach. I'm with you Marek, I would like to see one of them on my driveway. Citroen are usually very competitive on price in relation to level of spec and standard kit. Thanks for keeping us up to speed. First class!
It's got cup holders by the handbrake but they are removable. Someone must have taken yours out already. Loads of headroom if you don't go for the sunroof. You are getting low mpg because of the automatic gearbox and larger alloys. I got the mid spec, mid engine with the 2 options packs and metallic paint and it ended up better equipped than the mid spec Volkswagen t-roc and over 5,000 pounds cheaper!
As usual, you have made a very good review! Thank you! Because I intend to buy a C3 Aircross in the next year, it's very useful to see such videos as yours.
If I had to chose in the B SUV segment, I would go for the C3 aircross instead of one of the cars of the Volkswagen corporation. It has more character, looks better and is more sympathic. Volkswagen claim to build "premium quality" and try to make customers believe to buy a "perfect car". But PSA actually builds reliable cars. Besides that there is no such thing as a perfect car. There is just a car that's perfect for me and my taste and my purpose. After a long journey of finding the successor for our very good and reliable Peugeot 208 we finally ordered a Peugeot 308 SW. What had made the decision difficult is the discussion about emissions (NOx with Diesels and particles with turbo petrols). The Peugeot 308 puretech 130 is one of the first cars to fulfill Euro 6d temp. VW are announcing the petrol particle filter, Peugeot are actually building them in now. The brand new Polo won't have it before September 2018. I only can advise to not buy a new turbo petrol car without filter anymore. The same counts for Euro 6 diesels even if they already have the scr system. The vast majority of those Euro 6 diesels with ad blue injection has serious problems with NOx. They are clean only on paper unless they fulfill the Euro 6 d which the new Peugeot 308 bluehdi 130 does. Yes, there are (very) few new Diesels which are clean also on the real road, like Mercedes E 220d for example. So watch out when buying a new car. Make sure to get a really modern car with the lowest possible emissions. Just the Euro 6 badge is not enough.
I have got a Citroen and in order to make the cabin warmer you have to turn off AC and then it will warm the cabin very quickly. From what I can see in the video the AC is on
Ok if your airbag recall is a quick fix , they said mine would be,been in the dealers workshop for over two weeks , wiring loom out , there haggling with Citroen to get another one, so this is our last Citroen I’m afraid , we had berlingo for 13 years never let us down , so I’m afraid I would not recommend them .
The towing weight is disappointing. I currently tow a 1100Kg 2 berth caravan with my C3 Picasso 1.6D. I will have to look for a different model/brand when I upgrade.
If we are prosecuted for using phones whilst driving why do motor manufactuters insist on having controls on a menu based touch screen? Is this not distracting? I only hope that shortly we will be given voice activated controls.
I find voice commands even more distracting. I most cases you have to learn specific phrases, speak loud and clear, and on top of that it takes ages to go through the entire procedure.
In the UK the C3 Aircross defeated the Seat Arona in a group test.....hand on heart Marek what would you choose ?..... The C3 with 130 bhp gets my vote :) funky and stands out
It's a shame it only offers halogen headlights. I would still buy the C3 Aircross instead of the Arona, but it's really damn close. And the only reason it's close is that Seat offers full LED headlights, which are simply superior. But like you said, the design sells it.
Their interiors are not better built. They use more soft touch materials. That's not the same thing. I understand they will be more reliable, but it's just not the same. You would buy a C3 Aircross because it's different. Nothing about the Stonic or the Kona is quirky or different. They are just... Cars.
Ok, panorama, automatic, top trim as it seams but still for that class and a citroen (which I like or want to like but cant sometimes) that is way too much. Ou and are the headlights halogen ffs...
Yes, Citroen's residuals are lower than VW. Also I expect nobody will actually pay sticker price for one of these, which leads to further depreciation.
Anyone interested in this car should probably look into the facelifted c4 cactus, new " magic carpet" suspension and better materials, less ostentatious design. What is your opinion about it, why c3 aircross over the new c4 cactus facelift?
I'm not THAT excited by it. Mainly because I don't like that HVAC system with its noisy and inefficient operation and very awkward control through the touchscreen. Its not that I am unaccustomed to a touchscreen, because I have a Volvo XC90 and love that system. For heat in the Volvo I just tell it whether I'm hot or cold and it will adjust one degree either way, or I just say "temperature 23 degrees" and it adjusts to that. In truth I prefer the style of the Peugeot 2008 and 3008 to these Citroens. If only I could actually get out of the Peugeots!! I keep hitting my head on the doorframe no matter how I try to exit. No mention of this in your Citroen review, so I presume it not to be a problem.
Don't know how tall you are. I'm the same height as Marek and I don't hit my head in this car when getting out. I would buy this with a diesel and a manual. The HVAC would probably be better.
He's one of the few car journalists which is honest left on youtube. Thing is, if people don't point out flaws, the manufacturers won't do shit about it.
Pointing out flaws is not the same as complaining. I love my car, yet I could spend an hour telling you all the things that annoy me about it. This is what all journalists should do.
ast5515 - that sounds like my Jeep Wrangler Rubicon - I could give you a list of flaws as long as my arm, but I love my Jeep and it's the best car in the world for it's specific role,
A Peugeot 3008 GT Line with some options and the 1.2 petrol 130HP is about 40K-45K € and in France, you can see it everywhere. So why not ? But I think you wanted to talk about the CX-3 and not the CX-5. I'm ok with you except if you want some space in the boot.
Seems too expensive... Looks like Citroen switching to gasoline turbo with manual gear.....ID rather prefer diesel for reasonable price. Actually what I have in garage now.
I don't like the design, but abroad from that it could be a good car. I think it will find it's ways to the customers. BTW again, a really good review :)
Relatively expensive for what you get, cheap build materials, slow, front wheel drive only, not economical, no cup holders, no dedicated climate control knobs, old school arm rests, appalling upholstery, not to even mention the overall appearance, why the orange lines at the small window at the back, wtf?! There was a time when Citroen actually made desirable cars...
Do you have a very big bin? Big enough for this "car"? When I heard the price I wanted to click away the video, that's just a very, very stupid joke from psa, but your surfing music is too nice to listen :D Since I had a very bad experience with a c4 cactus I do not trust a citroen anymore (horrible!!! clutch and gear shift, gas pedal and brake too close together for big shoes (had to drive shoeless), rubbish satnav, radio-volume knob turned on itself frequently! and if I hear now, the air con whines: NO THANKS
"C3 Aircross is a FWD only car (...) C3 Aircross can be equipped with Grip Control, which adapts ESP to selected type of terrain. (...) There is even hill descent assist. Gosh, where would I have to go to use it?"
Marek Drives no idea and Ive no idea why it has hill descent . Its a road car and i would not class it as a SUV . Take that car off road and it will get broken and stuck unlike a Defender or Land cruiser . So in my humble opinion its a road car and should never be taken off road .
Don't get me wrong though. Of course reliability can still be an issue nowadays but not for an entire brand anymore, rather for certain models or parts like a certain engine, gearbox, etc. Especially as most parts are built by 3rd party manufacturers nowadays.
Myrddin, please remind me the sales figures for C5 and C6 please :) Yes, the design is really into the "fun" side but it's suppose to be the charm of the car. It's one of the reason I bought one :P
Great to see a review on the automatic version! Good value used car market in the UK
Thanks Marek...Honest like allways...
Fun car, my parents just bought one.
Hill descent control...it is for the Dutch mountains LOL.
Big Citroën and Peugeot fan myself, this looks like a great little car.
Last year I went from C5 V6 to a Pug 1007 1.6.
I'm sure it will also work, when rolling down into a depression :)
For a family of four people this little boy is just good enough for almost all the needs. I complain about both. Sorry to disturb you illusions. LOL
Myrddin Triguel Only unhappy people complain so much. Just relax.
Oh, I didn't say I complain much. ;)
WV design is shit
citroen design nowadays is stupid, vw is booooring, the new alpha romeos or some fiat designs (nowadays!) are very nice eg., some renault looks quite nice or some asians...

I got 76mpg today out of my c3 aircross at a steady 57mph i wasnt expecting that

I love the looks and small thoughtful details of this car. It seems PSA really thought this car out
You are right on point. Just purchased one and can't stand the beeping everytime I go over the white line and the noisy heating system
Have a nice Christmas!
Thanks! You too.

Thanks! If you find time, please let me know how it is to live with after a few months.

Cup holders!! Is that the best you can do! Have your baby bottle with your milky before you set off then you won't need to change your nappy either
I drove the new C3 with 1.2 82bhp. The AC probably drains the power from this engine. Although the C3 Aircross is growing on me I'd go for HDI.
I have got a Citroen and in order to make the cabin warmer you have to turn off AC and then it will warm the cabin very quickly. From what I can see in the video the AC is on

Those "Holdings" are called cubby spaces. A holding is a financial term related to the free market economy.

+ast5515 You're right about the headlights, and I forgot to mention it :/
Get the Hyundai Kona or the KIA Stonic. Far more reliable than a SEAT , far better interior quality than the Aircross.
Their interiors are not better built. They use more soft touch materials. That's not the same thing.
I understand they will be more reliable, but it's just not the same. You would buy a C3 Aircross because it's different. Nothing about the Stonic or the Kona is quirky or different. They are just... Cars.
@ast5515
LEDs in the Ibiza or Arona are severely simplified compared to Leon and color temperature aside they're pretty mediocre.
Dont misslead people this car starts from 15.000 euros. 30% less expansive than T Roc
It starts cheap, but is bare compared to T-Roc.
Except for some driver aids, T-Roc comes pretty barebones as well. And it has dreadful interior.
Ok, panorama, automatic, top trim as it seams but still for that class and a citroen (which I like or want to like but cant sometimes) that is way too much. Ou and are the headlights halogen ffs...
I don't know how it is in Poland, but if you buy a year or a two year old car, the Aircross will be much cheaper than the T-roc - here in Germany.
I haven't seen/touched/driven face lifted C4 Cactus.
Which one has a softer suspension, kia soul or Citroen C3 aircross?
We don't have Soul in Poland any more. Only the e-Soul. Much heavier, different suspension setup.
I'm not THAT excited by it. Mainly because I don't like that HVAC system with its noisy and inefficient operation and very awkward control through the touchscreen. Pretend to be 4x4, plus these smaller puretech engines are not that economical on motorways as they stress to much. Bigger engines are better
Really dont like the cup holders and where climate system located in sub menu. Pretty much interior is not great design.
And you are still considering to buy this car after many negatives?
If I were to leave my money with Citroen, I'd probably go for the new C4.
@@MarekDrives C5 Aircross?
Witaj Marek! Great video review as always! Me, I will never buy a Citroën and most likely a French car.
Charlles Costa 24
why would you want an expensive car, that is slow, will break down and has a hard ride?
Can you get an automatic car
Design flair aside l would have to be high on angel dust before remotely considering this...
says he like sthe car and considers buying it. Spends the entire video complaining.

At list here in Finland 🇫🇮. French cars are very unreliable. It's a waste of money buying them!

28000 euros for a 1.2 petrol?????
Crazy expensive! Mazda cx-5 2.0 in top level equipment is just 2000€ more.
Top spec'd CX-5 is about 30-40% more expensive.
CX-3 is in the same class as C3 Aircross.
Jean-Philippe Mougin No, I meant cx-5, petrol 2.0 160bhp in top equipment is 31000 euros. Cx-3 2.0 petrol in top spec is about 22-23000.
@ILIJA1993
It depends on the market then. In that case the C3 Aircross should cost much less than 28000€.
Seems too expensive... Looks like Citroen switching to gasoline turbo with manual gear.....ID rather prefer diesel for reasonable price. Actually what I have in garage now.

way overpriced. Please review the new c4 cactus. At least that one is less expensive.

Merry Christmas to you too! Hope you have better luck with your next car.
luckily the cactus was only a rental car for 2 weeks
Actual price is slightly below Mazda CX-3.
It looks like a toy. Not a fan, I can however see why some people might like it. I guess it is more oriented to women drivers
Why are you taking it off road? Its a City car not a off roader lol
"C3 Aircross is a FWD only car (...) C3 Aircross can be equipped with Grip Control, which adapts ESP to selected type of terrain. (...) There is even hill descent assist. Gosh, where would I have to go to use it?"

under power why would you buy this cost to high haha and someone will buy it
Underpowered? How much power do you need in a small car?
Until I saw one driving on a public road I thought this was some kind of bad joke from Citroën. Sadly, it's not. RIP Citroën
The interior quality is horrible and Citroens are not known to be very reliable. I would prefer the KIA Stonic over this.
A brand's reliability isn't an issue anymore. We're in 2018 almost, not in the 1980s.
Don't get me wrong though. Of course reliability can still be an issue nowadays but not for an entire brand anymore, rather for certain models or parts like a certain engine, gearbox, etc. Especially as most parts are built by 3rd party manufacturers nowadays.

the...the...the
28000 for this ugly frog? For what? The hill descent maybe? Hohoho.. No way, not in this life.
