Punjabi Lehar is endeavoring to bridge a gap between the people of East and West Punjab, created by the partition of 1947. Most of the people have passed away with an unfulfilled ardent desire in their heart, to see their birth place and meet their childhood friends. Punjabi Lehar is attempting to fufil the desire of remaining partition era punjabis, who will be gone in the next five to seven years. My relative Jagjit Singh Jawanda was pass out from Layallpur Agricultural College in 1944. He later did his PhD from Ohio university and became Hod horticulture at PAU ludhiana. He was instrumental in kinnow revolution in east Punjab. He expired three years ago.He was regular attendant to alumni meets of PAU at Layallpur and Ludhiana
my grandfather was also graduatedfrom agri uni and done his phd from ohio state uni

WOW. He is a student of Sardar Bahadur Jagat Singh Ji who was professor in University Layallpur in the 1940s. Third Guru/Master of Radha Saomi Satsang Beas. He mentioned his name around 42.20 minutes in his poem. What a nice soul. He said so many nice thigs about Sikhs and Hindus.

I was a student of veterinary medicine from 1971 to 1977 in Pakistan Agricultural University. It used to be the Punjab Agricultural College and was upgraded to the West Pakistan Agricultural University in 1962. Most of our lecturers grew up in pre-Partition Punjab and would recall fondly of their Sikh and Hindu classmates. Refugees from India were housed in camps in the large field in front of the old administration building befre they were rsettled.
The great Indian athlete, Milkha Singh or known as the Flying Sikh, grew up in the village of Gobindapura at the entrance of the university. Before 1947 nearly 100% 0f the shops and residences in the city were Hindu and Sikh. Many of the homes still bear the 'OM' signs at the entrances.
It is very sad tht the British drew lines and divided Punjabis along communal lines. Many Pakistanis weep when memories of partition and their Hindu and Sikh friends whom they never saw after they left in 1947.
