Over 20 years after my time working the fairs but done Marlborough and a few others with Edwards from Swindon in 1974. What I remember about them the most was the lack of sleep, double hard craft for sure.
Another lovely video, great rides: Bennett Paratrooper, 1st dodgem set: Preston & Barbiari "Azzurre" dodgems on a Orton & Spooner track, Supercar "Sky Liner" Helter Skelter, Chance Zipper (a ride that came from the USA that didn't do very well here so rare to see footage of one), 2nd dodgem set: Preston & Barbiari "Daytona" dodgems on a Lang Wheels track, Jenning's Waltzer is a Lakin, Hayes Fabrications Ferris Wheels, Cadoxton Roundup, Norson Power Orbiter, Fairmatt Miami Trip, Modern Products Ladybird Roundabout, Another Modern Products roundabout with different cars on it, don't know who makes those mini ferris wheels, little train ride possibly made by Supercar, Wall's Waltzer is a Maxwell, Nice Speedway/Ark but don't know who made it I think the 2nd Roundup is a Hrubetz one but not sure, Great footage once again :)
I've just come across this. Absolutely fascinating stuff it really is. Works like a well-oiled machine once all the lorries have parked up in their right places. Can't believe this is 30 years old as well.
That was a fantastic video Ian, Well done. Brought back lots of memories for me, but the rides are so much faster than I remember them from the fifties and sixties. Pat Nixon (Smith)

Awesome video do you have any more from fairs in the 90s?
I do have more slightly earlier videos featuring RE Edwards & Sons Ltd's Dodgems and Scammell. I will try and upload them in the coming months.
@@ianphilpott-marlboroughhistory thanks that'll be awesome
I'm from the US. Does Marlborough still hold fairs like this every year to this day?
They certainly do Gregory and it was for the 819th year when they took place last month.
