I really liked this series. It's fun and energetic, the animation is fantastic. Even though it follows a lesson of the day format, I appreciate some of the lessons they teach. Like in the 1st episode we see how much pressure Lunella puts on herself because of her intelligence, and her inability to stop the bad guy or save her community is something she internalizes as personal failings. Her learning to remove those responsibilities off from herself and rely on others was enjoyable to see. I also like how she is proactive and seeks out ways to improve and connect with her community, outside of only showing up to fight villains. While it's not going to be for everyone it feels like a series with a lot of love and creativity put into it. Also I think it's very unfair to compare it to Primal just because they both happen to have dinosaurs. It's more of a superficial detail than anything. Like you can't compare Primal to Dinosaur Train, or Dora the Explorer to Interstellar because they both happen to have a character who is female. They are simply vastly different stories to compare to each other unless you are limiting the comparisons strictly to the dinosaur characters. But even then it's a stretch.
Also fun fact the studio behind the animation on this show Flying Bark Studios, did RISE OF THE TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES sooooo if you're sitting there thinking "why does this feel so familiar?" that's why. They also helped with Marvel's What If....? show as well, so I'm really glad their style of animation is sticking around.
The 'Hot Dog' thing may be from "We're Back", but the red Devil Dinosaur has been around since the 1970's series "Devil Dinosaur" featuring Moon Boy ( a Primitive ). While Moon Girl isn't a character created out of whole cloth while throwing Moon Boy under the bus ( there is a comic book history to this ), the runt Red T-Rex character has been around a long time.
I’m glad that marvel animation is getting a budget again. This is a good cartoon for people that like modern kids animation albeit without the long form storytelling. It has a great style, an actual banging non-forgettable soundtrack, and has decent animation especially for the fight scenes when the budget has to be used. We finally moved on from the Marvel’s Spider-Man 2017 days!!!
I know that “i read the comic and…” is for nerds but hear me out Moon girl & devil dinosaur is one of the few superhero comics i really got into back in like, 2016, because i saw devil dinosaur in a disney XD series about hulk and wanted to check it out, in that comic, devil dinosaur is straight up fang, very animalistic but with clear inteligence & personality, basicaly a very big dog with above average inteligence, moon girl was like you said, more like dexter, she was dedicated, down to earth & hard working and shown to strugle with inventions, actually strugle to achieve a goal through her genius is a very important arc in her story, she is girl genius that also frets about very banal, childish things as well as superhero stuff, and always tries to give a fun spin to everything, an strugles between seeing everyone beneath her, including friends, family and even other superheroes, and wanting to partake in normal child stuff, she wasn’t as bombastic as the series moon girl, she was goofy while trying to be serious and sometimes goofy on purpose, and the story revolved entirely around her with devil dinosaur being a tag along silent side kick wich was the funnyman to her straightgal act, and in my opinion, they complemented each other a lot better than the trio in the series
Lmao moon girl never struggles in the comics. She just solves all the problems really easily. Her character is a Mary Sue, worse than Rey from Star Wars. So i have no idea where you got this idea that she struggles from. Edit: she quite literally is a Mary Sue. She’s always been one. All her problems eventually solve themselves and never cause her lasting issues ever. She starts off as the smartest person in marvel and that never gets contested by anyone and most of her character flaws are played off as quirky or for a joke. I legit can’t mentally fathom why it is so hard to accept that the 10 year old smarter than reed richards from the very beginning of her story somehow isn’t a Mary Sue.

@@zzodysseuszz yeah you didn't read it at all, the girl was shown to be brilliant but her arrogance and obsession with science was a major hindrance to her, and it was even the reason why she didn't get into the most elite school in the marvel universe for gifted minds, she is deeply flawed but grows into a better person through interacting with kids her age, various heroes and other strange bizarre things in the marvel universe. long story short she's a misunderstood misfit, who's a hero to use her extraordinary better others despite not understating people or even liking them sometimes. So no she's definitely not a mary sue others and herself show that clearly from issue one.

Maybe its just me, but I swear I saw this video already, beat for beat. I specifically remember reading a post about how in the comics devil dinosaur was more serious and how someone didn't like how he was being treated like a pet in the show. Must be the mandella effect lol
The animation caught me but I really love how the stakes are believable. She’s trying to protect her neighborhood. Also that she’s a genius but still fails and has faults.
I saw all 6 Episodes of it and... I already love it. Like finally, NO Political Narrative SO FAR though (just adding an Existing Person doesn't make it Political by a long shot, Story-Writing does), NOT Uninteresting, & NOT Boring in my eyes. It actually feels something new to me, something that I crave for (I have not watched any Phase 4 MCU Film/Show & Ant-Man 3 AT ALL). In regards of your Legit Criticisms that it is Too Fast Pace you're not wrong but on my end I can let it slide because at least it was enjoyable, I also do think there should be a little more balance & room to breathe for Lunella's Character (at least she's likeable & learns a hard lesson unlike other Female MCU Heroes as of LATE), and I really love her Best Friend (already my favorite character). I don't blame you on not being entirely sold but it was a very Fair Critique regardless.

The first part of the episode was just to insanely fast paced. We get introduced to her lair, see who "moon girl" is, creates a portal, and makes a dinosaur, and befriends said dinosaur in like 2 minutes. The sound affects were getting a little annoying as well. and all the charcters were just teleporting around. Like chill out for a second lol. The episode later on gets better tho.

Glad i'm not the only one who had to think of We're back and Rex when seeing Devil . Devil does resemble him alot . His build , even his colors a bit and just like Rex he also has three fingers on each hand for some reason .

I was really excited to see Moon Girl and Devil Dino get some shine. She is smarter than Bruce Banner & Tony Stark combined. I read off some issues on her and wasn't disappointed. I'm actually glad they took a comic style approach; and how the story revolves around not only her character but the realism of how people interact with one another. Hopefully Alteori enjoys this a little more, and it wasn't that bad in my most honest opinion.

This is how a marvel production should be having a good mix and its not bloated with trivial comedy So far its maybe the best recent marvel cartoon and marvel production in general I find it a bit odd that its put on disney channel i was expecting more like it being the ghost and molly mcgee lol
I think the only reason the first episode was very overwhelming was the fact that it was TOO LONG! Later episodes feel better because they have a shorter runtime.
The comics were massively unsuccessful and very much an unpopular line of stories. Devil dinosaur was a comic created by the great jack kirby, moon girl was added later, not too many people like her character
You also have to bring up the point a lot of people didn't like her character simply because she was claimed to be one of the smartest while being black, the same way people hated miles (who is a black spiderman) until his movie came out. The same way with black panther before it had it's movies. A lot of people call black characters woke or for diversity sake when they need to go outside and see that black people exist.
@@awh9220 Moon Girl always seemed to me to be a character aimed at very young readers (young girls for the most part), which I think added to her unpopularity, modern comic readers tend to mostly be a lot older, I won't pretend like prejudice does not get involved in why some people don't like her, it unfortunately would have, but I also don't think it is at all likely to be a dominant reason, mostly because those sort of people don't buy comics or have a reasonable attitude towards comics, at the end of the day it is great storytelling and characters that sells books, and I don't know how many people over the age of 14 would have been drawn to Moon Girl as a hero, her incredibly high energy, crazy rambunctious personality can be very hit or miss with people. when it comes to Miles however, I must disagree with you, his books sold very well from a fairly early stage, his suite was iconic and character well rounded and relatable, Yes his popularity was massively elevated with the new 2018 movie, but he was very far from "hated" by the majority of spidey fans, once people warmed up to him. thanks for your comment (:

People really can't stand seeing a non-white character as the protagonist in mainstream media, and the argument that a show or movie is "woke" simply because the lead character is black has been so overused to the point that people don't even know what the true origins of the word woke are anymore. It's honestly exhausting having to explain it over and over again. At the end of the day, people just don't want to acknowledge black people as actual people.

I loved the original 70's Devil Dinosaur and Moonboy comics. He's called Devil because of his red skin, which he got (somehow) from being exposed/burned by fire shortly after he was born. In the Marvel 70's Godzilla comics, he even gets sent back in tome for a fight/team-up with Devil. This new stuff with Moongirl..... not so much.
@@suzygirl1843 Honestly, it's not even the boy/girl thing. The way they've handled Devil after bringing him to modern times has rubbed me the wrong way. The tone of the comics, regardless of his companion, is what I don't like. The original was a reasonably serious prehistoric adventure comic, and the modern takes seem to be mostly slapstick. It just happens to be that Moongirl is the one they've had for these later comics.

The modern comics all used Moongirl, and so the only human character reference I have to the modern comics is Moongirl. If the modern comics used Moonboy, but still had the same comedic tone, I would have said I didn't like the new Devil Dinosaur and Moonboy comics. But believe what you want. No skin off my nose.

You need to see the next eps, even three or four eps after. It becomes slice of life-y and more of Moon Girl's kid troubles than fights. Also her inventions failing. Give it another chance. The first ep isn't enough.

I liked it, the only real complaint I have is that I'm just sick of the typical marvel "I'm a genius inventor superhero that makes all these cool gadgets!" it feels done to death by now with Ironman, spiderman, Shuri, Iron heart, Janett & Hope, Ant mans daughter (tho I didn't see the movie the promotional material just made her look that way), and many more, even a lot of the villains too. But that's more a personal gripe and doesn't affect the show as a whole.
I like it, its cute compared to the last few Marvel tv shows. Better then She Hulk that's for sure. Also Alteori you should review Rick and Morty season 6 episode 6 with the dinosaurs

Actually, the first few episodes are available on TH-cam. And they're _super_ good. Quite a few episodes actually address not frequently talked about problems, such as curly hair (black people's hair to be specific) discrimination and gentrification.

The Devil Dinosaur kinda looks like on of those red rex from season 1 of Primal. It does have a feel of Dexter's Laboratory with Into the Spiderverse in it. I might give this series a look see. Anyway, another great video, Alteori, I like it, see you in the next one.

I think you're taste are super jaded. Preference is fine and all. But i want to hit you dexter point. First "earned their genius status." Like how a show shows that is subjective. And how you went about it is rather dismissive. Incredibly so. And like in both shows. We don't see them build all the time. Because that would be boring. Second dexter isn't the same genre. Its apple to oranges. Also dexter is evil. He's a mad scientist. Third resources. Just speaking from that point alone. Dexter was way more going on than moon girl. Even adding more to why dexter lab is a bad comparison. Overall too. This video has age poorly in two months (in my opinion.) And i think you need to look at your main content and compare what moon girl and devil dino. The later is cartoon about a super hero girl and a giant red dinosaur, get to work with SHIELD later in the series. (Being a marvel show after all) To tackle your other complaints. Outside of your opinion and preference. Which looking at your channel. Yeah. Obviously. I think you're not doing well enough to be objective about it. (In my opinion. I can totally see arguments about why you think you did do good.) Insay this because it sounds like (and i can be wrong) you are jumping way to ahrad about many conclusions of your thoughts about the show. But if all your thoughts about this show stem from the beginning. I think you might need hold back said thoughts till after watching a couple more. This is not the anime rule its in my opinion the reviewer rule. Its rather slim and shallow thinking to base a season on one episode. Regardless of length. And especially if its the first episode. At least that's what comes off as to me. Shallow thoughts because one didn't dive in. But Moon Girl isn't your main form of content either. So bleh. But for someone like me. Dexter's Lab is comedy series focused on the lab or experiments, Moon Girl is a super hero series, thats why its focused on, you know, crime fighting over experiments or the process behind that. Maybe don't watch it when your tired and base a whole review on that experience? also it's on Disney so yes it's for a younger audience who can keep up. Might be good to actually not compare every single dinosaur related thing to Primal, that's not really fair to new series.
funny I was just scrolling through a list new shows and thought huh moongirl and devil dinosaur sounds interesting and then I saw the marvel logo at the top and I heard the cinemasins guy in my head say "SKIP" so I did.
"She looks like she's 9/10 years old." She was nine in the original comic, but she got aged up for the show, so she is 13 here.
I do think it starts a little bit fast paced but later episodes get much slower and you really connect with the characters

The 'Hot Dog' thing may be from "We're Back", but the red Devil Dinosaur has been around since the 1970's series "Devil Dinosaur" featuring Moon Boy ( a Primitive ). While Moon Girl isn't a character created out of whole cloth while throwing Moon Boy under the bus ( there is a comic book history to this ), the runt Red T-Rex character has been around a long time.

First impressions are the most important
I’m glad that marvel animation is getting a budget again. This is a good cartoon for people that like modern kids animation albeit without the long form storytelling. It has a great style, an actual banging non-forgettable soundtrack, and has decent animation especially for the fight scenes when the budget has to be used. We finally moved on from the Marvel’s Spider-Man 2017 days!!!
It actually has a bit an overarching story with the Beyonder but it seems to be taking its time

Moon girl & devil dinosaur is one of the few superhero comics i really got into back in like, 2016, because i saw devil dinosaur in a disney XD series about hulk and wanted to check it out, in that comic, devil dinosaur is straight up fang, very animalistic but with clear inteligence & personality, basicaly a very big dog with above average inteligence, moon girl was like you said, more like dexter, she was dedicated, down to earth & hard working and shown to strugle with inventions, actually strugle to achieve a goal through her genius is a very important arc in her story, she is girl genius that also frets about very banal, childish things as well as superhero stuff, and always tries to give a fun spin to everything, an strugles between seeing everyone beneath her, including friends, family and even other superheroes, and wanting to partake in normal child stuff, she wasn’t as bombastic as the series moon girl, she was goofy while trying to be serious and sometimes goofy on purpose, and the story revolved entirely around her with devil dinosaur being a tag along silent side kick wich was the funnyman to her straightgal act, and in my opinion, they complemented each other a lot better than the trio in the series
Lmao moon girl never struggles in the comics. She just solves all the problems really easily. Her character is a Mary Sue, worse than Rey from Star Wars. So i have no idea where you got this idea that she struggles from.
Edit: she quite literally is a Mary Sue. She’s always been one. All her problems eventually solve themselves and never cause her lasting issues ever. She starts off as the smartest person in marvel and that never gets contested by anyone and most of her character flaws are played off as quirky or for a joke. I legit can’t mentally fathom why it is so hard to accept that the 10 year old smarter than reed richards from the very beginning of her story somehow isn’t a Mary Sue.

I saw all 6 Episodes of it and... I already love it. Like finally, NO Political Narrative SO FAR though (just adding an Existing Person doesn't make it Political by a long shot, Story-Writing does), NOT Uninteresting, & NOT Boring in my eyes. It actually feels something new to me, something that I crave for (I have not watched any Phase 4 MCU Film/Show & Ant-Man 3 AT ALL). In regards of your Legit Criticisms that it is Too Fast Pace you're not wrong but on my end I can let it slide because at least it was enjoyable, I also do think there should be a little more balance & room to breathe for Lunella's Character (at least she's likeable & learns a hard lesson unlike other Female MCU Heroes as of LATE), and I really love her Best Friend (already my favorite character). I don't blame you on not being entirely sold but it was a very Fair Critique regardless.

The first part of the episode was just to insanely fast paced. We get introduced to her lair, see who "moon girl" is, creates a portal, and makes a dinosaur, and befriends said dinosaur in like 2 minutes. The sound affects were getting a little annoying as well. and all the charcters were just teleporting around. Like chill out for a second lol. The episode later on gets better tho.

I was really excited to see Moon Girl and Devil Dino get some shine. She is smarter than Bruce Banner & Tony Stark combined. I read off some issues on her and wasn't disappointed. I'm actually glad they took a comic style approach; and how the story revolves around not only her character but the realism of how people interact with one another. Hopefully Alteori enjoys this a little more, and it wasn't that bad in my most honest opinion.
"Smarter than..." And this is how you start off making your character unlikable, because the reader can smell Mary Sue vibes from a mile away.

My first thought was that the animation reminded me of Rise of the TMNT

I think the only reason the first episode was very overwhelming was the fact that it was TOO LONG! Later episodes feel better because they have a shorter runtime.
The comics were massively unsuccessful and very much an unpopular line of stories.
Devil dinosaur was a comic created by the great jack kirby, moon girl was added later, not too many people like her character
You also have to bring up the point a lot of people didn't like her character simply because she was claimed to be one of the smartest while being black, the same way people hated miles (who is a black spiderman) until his movie came out. The same way with black panther before it had it's movies. A lot of people call black characters woke or for diversity sake when they need to go outside and see that black people exist.
@@awh9220 Moon Girl always seemed to me to be a character aimed at very young readers (young girls for the most part), which I think added to her unpopularity, modern comic readers tend to mostly be a lot older, I won't pretend like prejudice does not get involved in why some people don't like her, it unfortunately would have, but I also don't think it is at all likely to be a dominant reason, mostly because those sort of people don't buy comics or have a reasonable attitude towards comics, at the end of the day it is great storytelling and characters that sells books, and I don't know how many people over the age of 14 would have been drawn to Moon Girl as a hero, her incredibly high energy, crazy rambunctious personality can be very hit or miss with people.
when it comes to Miles however, I must disagree with you, his books sold very well from a fairly early stage, his suite was iconic and character well rounded and relatable, Yes his popularity was massively elevated with the new 2018 movie, but he was very far from "hated" by the majority of spidey fans, once people warmed up to him.

People really can't stand seeing a non-white character as the protagonist in mainstream media, and the argument that a show or movie is "woke" simply because the lead character is black has been so overused to the point that people don't even know what the true origins of the word woke are anymore. It's honestly exhausting having to explain it over and over again. At the end of the day, people just don't want to acknowledge black people as actual people.

I loved the original 70's Devil Dinosaur and Moonboy comics. He's called Devil because of his red skin, which he got (somehow) from being exposed/burned by fire shortly after he was born. In the Marvel 70's Godzilla comics, he even gets sent back in tome for a fight/team-up with Devil. This new stuff with Moongirl..... not so much.

The tone of the comics, regardless of his companion, is what I don't like. The original was a reasonably serious prehistoric adventure comic, and the modern takes seem to be mostly slapstick. It just happens to be that Moongirl is the one they've had for these later comics.

The modern comics all used Moongirl, and so the only human character reference I have to the modern comics is Moongirl. If the modern comics used Moonboy, but still had the same comedic tone, I would have said I didn't like the new Devil Dinosaur and Moonboy comics. But believe what you want. No skin off my nose.

I liked it, the only real complaint I have is that I'm just sick of the typical marvel "I'm a genius inventor superhero that makes all these cool gadgets!" it feels done to death by now with Ironman, spiderman, Shuri, Iron heart, Janett & Hope, Ant mans daughter (tho I didn't see the movie the promotional material just made her look that way), and many more, even a lot of the villains too. But that's more a personal gripe and doesn't affect the show as a whole.
I like it, its cute compared to the last few Marvel tv shows. Better then She Hulk that's for sure. Also Alteori you should review Rick and Morty season 6 episode 6 with the dinosaurs

Actually, the first few episodes are available on TH-cam. And they're _super_ good. Quite a few episodes actually address not frequently talked about problems, such as curly hair (black people's hair to be specific) discrimination and gentrification.

Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur. Hmm, I think I saw a small commercial of it, don't know what to think of it. The Devil Dinosaur kinda looks like on of those red rex from season 1 of Primal. It does have a feel of Dexter's Laboratory with Into the Spiderverse in it. I might give this series a look see.

in my opinon I still prefer the comics Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur because in this its all happy happy happy fun time, but in the comics its much like Primal were Moon Girl and Devil have a sort of love and hate relationship like spear and fang when they first met

I would watch the show but I can’t handle all the bright colors, it hurts my eyes if I look at it for too long.
Devil was always red in comics and he had moon boy as well a neanderthal that draws power from the moon. And other characters and eventually moon girl. This show I couldn't pay attention

I think you're taste are super jaded. Preference is fine and all. But i want to hit you dexter point.
First "earned their genius status." Like how a show shows that is subjective. And how you went about it is rather dismissive. Incredibly so. And like in both shows. We don't see them build all the time. Because that would be boring.
Second dexter isn't the same genre. Its apple to oranges. Also dexter is evil. He's a mad scientist.
Third resources. Just speaking from that point alone. Dexter was way more going on than moon girl. Even adding more to why dexter lab is a bad comparison.
Overall too. This video has age poorly in two months (in my opinion.) And i think you need to look at your main content and compare what moon girl and devil dino. The later is cartoon about a super hero girl and a giant red dinosaur, get to work with SHIELD later in the series. (Being a marvel show after all)
To tackle your other complaints. Outside of your opinion and preference. Which looking at your channel. Yeah. Obviously. I think you're not doing well enough to be objective about it. (In my opinion. I can totally see arguments about why you think you did do good.) Insay this because it sounds like (and i can be wrong) you are jumping way to ahrad about many conclusions of your thoughts about the show. But if all your thoughts about this show stem from the beginning. I think you might need hold back said thoughts till after watching a couple more. This is not the anime rule its in my opinion the reviewer rule. Its rather slim and shallow thinking to base a season on one episode. Regardless of length. And especially if its the first episode. At least that's what comes off as to me. Shallow thoughts because one didn't dive in. But Moon Girl isn't your main form of content either. So bleh. But for someone like me. I needed a show like moon girl. I enjoy the humor, and the animation is great. I especially love devil d. Second best character in the show. The first best character. Beyonder. Who's beyonder? Well watch the show.

Dexter's Lab is comedy series focused on the lab or experiments, Moon Girl is a super hero series, thats why its focused on, you know, crime fighting over experiments or the process behind that.
Maybe don't watch it when your tired and base a whole review on that experience? also it's on Disney so yes it's for a younger audience who can keep up.
Might be good to actually not compare every single dinosaur related thing to Primal, that's not really fair to new series.
Do Gannibal, the Resident Evil where everyone is an irredeemable asshole, and it's better than TLOU.
