Hey guys sorry for having the profile be so long and rambly! I recorded this with Chris/JUNE the night of the regional after we went out for dinner, and I was super tired and didn’t structure my thoughts concisely. Also one shoutout I forgot to give goes to my boy Stephen! He helped me test for the regional, and also during the regional I played against Boarder Stun and won pretty definitively, thanks to him playing that matchup with me more often than I can count XD
bystials arent OP? dragons + emperor for adding off of beyond, do the stuff and then either have it for next turn if they break board or as an extender for number 38 and b4 that u add the revolution u may have banished for a bystial!
I was debating playing bysstials in the spaces where I currently have shifter and triple tac. I decided that shifter was too good not to play and that for the other 3 slots triple tac would be better because the bysstials aren’t as good when they’re not in multiples, which is hard to guarantee without the full 9, while triple tac is significantly better as a stand-alone card. Additionally, the spell card count was kinda low, and that can be important for Selene plays. I will say that I don’t think the bysstials are as good as extenders in this deck, since they’re hard to use for beyond without getting revolution dragon in grave, which doesn’t always happen, and they don’t have much use as extenders after making beyond, other than for making Selene or zealantis. I think they’re still cracked as handtraps, since the bodies remain, but I ended up deciding against them for the reasons I described above. Also worth noting they conflict with Fenrir, but that comes up very rarely. Overall I think that they’re solid but I preferred the staple lineup I have here. On a separate note in regards to the chaos emperor dragon tech, I think it’s very solid if you’re playing 6+ bysstials, I really liked it when I saw it in the Tinsley park build. I wouldn’t play it if I was playing less bysstials than that though, because otherwise it takes up deck space and will be dead in hand too often (sure, it’s a low scale, but it doesn’t do much more than that).
In my opinion a pendulum + dragon build is too good not to take advantage of. Emperor is not everything but can clear boards going 2nd B4 you go on beyond and otk. It can also be used on n38 and for otls since it has 3k and it is brought very easily with 1 light and dark. The other eff of adding a dragon from banish is also very synergistic with bystials. Bystials even not used as extenders ( which is not needed for the main combo) is amazing just as a hand trap on their turn (+1 interruption + body + the add or the pop eff is crazy even if it is not used turn 1) also amazing going 2md which talents is not crazy good if they have established an unbeTble field. Shifter is fine but many times it hits pendulum hard. How u combo under shifter? Doesn't everything get banished?
Shifter doesn’t hit pendulum hard at all. Because your cards go to the ED when not under shifter, on your first turn you can usually make beyond before you activate shifter and then pend summon all your bodies, then make ignister and then activate shifter. That makes it super easy to combo and put up a big field while having shifter in effect. Sure, you’re not making the full board, but if they’re under shifter and you have multiple interruptions up there’s not much your opponent can do unless they’re playing floo and they’ve drawn a board breaker. Going second you’re putting up less of a board but you can still combo fine even without pend summon monsters from Extra, especially in this build with more copies of harmonizing. You can pretty easily OTK under shifter if you know they’re not on bysstials, or set up Apo, bagooska, and nexrovalley even if you’re going second and you’ve activated shifter. I think it’s objectively true that the bysstials plus you a lot more than talents, I just opted for talents because it’s the better standalone card. If they draw a good hand, a single bysstial won’t save you either, just like a single talents won’t break a board; meanwhile, talents and bysstials are pretty close in their ability to clean up mediocre hands going second. I think in other decks it’s correct to play bysstials because they have more utility going first, but Im not sure that’s the case in this build, since for talents getting spells in grave is pretty major and the hand rip effect is better at closing out games if it gets triggered, while bysstials aren’t consistent enough as extenders. I think it essentially comes down to preference though, I don’t think it’s automatically correct to play one staple lineup or the other, there’s just pros and cons Also I just wanna point that it’s extremely unlikely you’ll clear a board with Chaos emperor dragon before you summon beyond. This deck doesn’t get multiple monsters in grave easily unless your opponent hits an ishizu miller, and it’s safe to sssume they’ll have several counters to CED if they do
I’m glad the Odd-Eyes Vortex Dragon package is a thing now. Odd-Eyes Seer, Odd-Eyes Arch Pendulum Dragon (searchable with Duelist Alliance), Odd-Eyes Dissolver along with Odd-Eyes Revolution Dragon is a ‘better’ package than Harmonizing. Harmonizing is good, but the can’t be summoned from the extra deck, can only be used for materials with other “Magician” cards (unless you’re using it for Link material), and negates the monster it summons with that monster banished when it leaves the field seems like a lot of restrictions for ‘little” pay off. Pitch Revolution > Search > scale Vanilla Odd-Eyes, scale Seer, grab back Revolution destroying Seer which triggers Vanilla Odd-Eyes, special summon Dissolver, fuse Vanilla Odd-Eyes with Dissolver for Vortex. Leaves you with an omni negate another search with Revolution plus whatever else was in your hand. Performpal Odd-Eyes Synchron as well adds plays to the deck.
Been testing without harmonizing magician for the last few weeks, was highly dissatisfied, and couldn't place my finger on why until I watched this. Looking forward to the combo video!
@@SaveOurSnipers I don't think it's strictly better, it can help play around some things and can easily be played with the odd-eyes combo. I think you're overestimating how often you actually succeed in making vortex (also you have to play more bricks).
If you’re playing on a budget then try some bysstials, any that you can get access to. Fenrir is there is because it can be other a going second card or an extender as necessary, the bystials would be the second best at fulfilling that niche (that said, they’re prettt inconsistent as extenders, because you need odd eyes revolution dragon in grave)
Think about it like this -the main thing you can’t do under shifter is put pendulum monsters in the Extra to pend summon them back. The deck can still pend summon from hand and use dinoster and ignis, which fills the gaps really well. Under shifter you’re putting up less interruptions but you can still make bagooska and apo pretty easily, as well as search necrovalley
"This deck plays really well under shifter". Can we please get an explanation for this statement? I understand that is painful for your opponent, but it is also for you!
The TLDR is that it’s not equally painful for your opponent as it is for you, as a Dracoslayer player you’re way better off. The long explanation - a tear player can barely do anything under shifter, as well all know, it boils down to exactly rank four plays and that’s it. Meanwhile, as a Dracoslayer player, you can’t fill your extra, but you can still pendulum summon from hand and trigger all the Dracoslayer names. What that means is that you can still make ignis, apo, bagooska, and search necrovalleys, as well as go for OTK plays (although try to read if they have a bysstial to chump block first)
