same. i had one track on loop fore 2 hours while I painted a portrait of Barbra Streisand. No, I have no idea why. I will say, I still love that song (Fruit Salad).
I'm glad we have this support group of fans who cackle at the lunatic greatness of his songs. Read between the lines is my song of choice while I do my video editing
This guy just oozes talent, and it’s so rewarding to get to find artists that just make art as an extension of their selves, not only an obligation. The distinction is really obvious.
im always saying this, its a huge reason i love musicians like Tom Cardy and Jazz Emu. There is something awesome about these guys who are EXTREMELY talented and dedicated to what they do....and using that to have fun fucking around making what they want, not what's super popular.
My wife wishes you hadn't written the "HYCYBH song, too, since now my 12 year old son now sings it to her, to his sisters, to his teacher, to his friends, etc. anytime they ask him where anything is. He loves that one too. and monster truck.
Lets put these very catchy songs under the whole interview and make it loud enough that our viewers won't be able to focus on what he is saying! Perfect!

I never realised his studio desk is the place he films his videos from! So informative so see him and see his gear not being held by a robot or a cop. I’ve been wanting an interview with Tom for so long, so happy with this!
I think you mean being held by a businessman. He couldn’t have been more clear he wasn’t a cop.

My wife played me HYCYBH, but first she was like, "Just read the title of the video, ok you got it?" and I figured it out within a few seconds and I was just giggling the entire time waiting for him to say it. Powerful
I doubt Tom will see this and I feel weird saying it on his channel for some reason but I wanted to sincerely thank him for his music. I don’t really like being alive and have never had much enjoyment in listening to music but I am actually obsessed with his music. It’s the only thing I listen to anymore and it’s the only music that I get any enjoyment from. I’m so excited every time I see he has created something. Tom, you make life okay. Thank you
Hes given us so much hilarious content in such a short period of time, and is still so humble & genuine. We'll have to do our best not to stress him out, but I sure do like the world better now that I know hes in it! I think my fave short clip is the Daft Punk one, followed by Red Flags, Carol Brown (cover), Fruit Salad, & Call Your Mother.
Only just been introduced to his music thanks to Perception Check. Seen this interview flash up a few times but stayed away as you just know the person your expect form the music videos is not going to be anything like the actual person in the interview. Turns out I was wrong, seems like a stand up fella
If there’s one thing I’ll be forever grateful to TikTok for it is serving me Tom. He hits that really bizarre and fucked up part of my heart that would’ve made me considered a witch in the 1600s.
Funny you mention Brazilian bossa nova as a guilty pleasure, as Brazilians we take a lot of pride in it lol. But also very nice to know you enjoy it. Good to see your success.
I got hooked by HYCYBH and haven't missed a YT release since. I love music that sounds great but doesn't take itself too seriously. Thanks for the interview, and thanks to Tom for all the bops!
I would abolutely love to see him doing stand-up, something similar to Bo Burnham maybe with not a lot of speaking parts and lots of songs. He's got a looot of charisma and showmanship and if he does improv it might be in it's range of skills.
TOM if you are reading this...just to let you know the music you make IS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING and the humour in it is ARE MASTERPIECES...LOVE IT SOOOOO MUCH😍
toms so funny and clever and his videos really have helped me a lot to have a laugh and get through this pandemic/war/recession/maybe apocalypse. and he did a banger cover of one of my favorite FOTC songs so of course im endeared (also helps hes cute). highlights of videos are always: what nail color did he pick, and what instrument that no one knew he played is he just gonna whip out and bang a professional level tune out on (i am envious of your musical talent my dude i can only play two instruments and you play all the instruments)
2:25 - Man, _Artificial Intelligence_ is one of my favourite Tom Cardy songs _(I mean, I love them all...)_ - and funny enough I thought that the main premise was indeed humorous, but underneath it felt somewhat sad and bittersweet, just as he described! So I'd say, mission accomplished! _''Humans cannot choose how they feel in the end / All of life is transient, and that helps me to comprehend that''_ - pretty deep and meaningful in a somewhat humorous song! Also, I find Tom Cardy absolutely endearing... Something about his talent, creativity, humour, lyrical genius, wonderful musician, fun and funny attitude, good looks - I can't quite put my finger on why he's so endearing 🤔 _(I may or may not have a massive crush.)_
Got this recommended to me. I’m so happy you got an interview with Tom. His music is helping get me through a dark period in my life so learning about him a bit is great
7:45 lol on free will of their own. I'd listen to a song about some band manager with mind control powers, especially if they get unpleasant snippets from the different members' minds whenever they used their powers.
Que loucura eu ter ouvido Tom Cardy aqui do Brasil mais que qualquer coisa ano passado enquanto o Tom Cardy curte as músicas brasileiras. Feat dos sonhos tinha que ser Tom Cardi e Tom Jobim English: How crazy that I listened to Tom Cardy here in Brazil more than anything last year while Tom Cardy enjoys Brazilian music. Dream collab had to be Tom Cardi and Tom Jobim.
Very good interview. I thought this was a big channel for a magazine or something, but its got just a couple hundred subs. My only criticism is: get a pop filter for the mic and lower the gain a lil' bit. Otherwise, great work!
omg... why do i think that it's cute that, of all his songs, "H.Y.C.Y.BH?" is the one his Mom frowns on a little? Is this confirmation that he IS that guy?! XD Also, we need to creatively reclaim the word 'silly'. Silly is good. Silly is fun. Seriously-unserious and unseriously-serious.
It's so refreshing to hear Tom just chillin' and talking to us like a dork who is definitely not a cop.

Woah woah woah. You're telling me Businessman was about a cop? But he said he wasn't a cop. Tom, how could you lie to us like that? We trusted you.
The business man didn't lie to you. The cop did.

That did it. My mind is blown.
I always thought that turning out NOT to be a cop would be the best plot twist.
Like his wife was a cop, and he is trying to imitate her perhaps?

Empire Strikes Back
Sixth Sense
Business Man not really being a cop
Not a lot of people here. I got this recommended. Super happy to know more about Tom. I love his music. With an unhealthy passion 😂
same. i had one track on loop fore 2 hours while I painted a portrait of Barbra Streisand. No, I have no idea why. I will say, I still love that song (Fruit Salad).
Tom is amazing. Underrated. He should have his own Netflix special. I’d watch on loop.
@@tbray That sounds like time well spent. And yes, Fruit Salad slaps HARD.

Congratulations on the future theater student 👍
How is he now?
Nice to see him with the gear he actually uses. Dude is a stone cold pro.
I think he keeps recommending the Business man song cause for some non-suspicious reason he wants us to know that he's definitely not a cop

Shrek 2 with a soundtrack from Tom Cardy..... I've never wanted anything more in my life.
I got addicted to Tom's music from HYCYBH. I shared it with multiple friends and family, who also loved it. From Montana, USA.
