The perfect camera doesn’t exi-
Joshua Lin niko: hold my beer
Niko: hold my old camera
Perfect camera (that could exist if the stars aligned - I'm trying to be somewhat realistic) is if you took an A7iii but also gave it:
Panasonic's new Full Frame 8K global (no rolling shutter) organic sensor (29.2 stops of dynamic range)
The IBIS from the Panasonic S1
The flip out touch screen except super color accurate, super bright (up to 1000 nits), and 4-5''
The IO of the BMPCC 4K with an extra usb-c port and an SDI port
The ability to shoot up to 8K 30p but also 6K 60p, 4K 120p, 1080p at 300fps all with Sony's new AI AF from the a6400
The ability to choose from a list of resolutions, frame rates (supported by those resolutions), bit depths (12 bit, 10 bit, 8 bit), and compression rates (ProRes Raw, ProRes, and MP4)
The menu system that would be like if Canon's menu system and Blackmagic's menu system had a baby
The sensor curtain from the EOS-R
The electronic ND filter from the FS5 II
Sony Venice Color Science or Panasonic's new color science from cameras like the GH5s
64GB of high speed internal storage (M.2 SSD) for those moments you forgot your SD card at home
The ability to use (dual) M.2 SSDs for storage (especially useful for raw video, plus they're faster and cheaper than C-Fast 2.0 cards)
Also the ability to record to external SSDs through usb-c
The ability to edit your footage straight off the camera through a usb-c port (just like you would with an external SSD)
The ability to charge the camera through the usb-c port
Better audio preamps and a built in mic made by zoom (like an h1 equivalent but inside the camera)
2 hot shoes (With a seperate attachment that allows you to plug in xlr mics and have gain control but with no wires. The audio would run through the hot shoe and be fed into the video.)
The Panasonic camera app for control and media transfer
The camera body would be a cross between the Sony's and the GH5 but maybe a little longer downwards so we could fit in all the new technology to make this camera work but also have room for your pinky finger.
Please add to this with more comments :)

I remember waiting every week for corridor digital and the long past freddiew it was something amazing. This summer I am diving into the vfx world and will be buying a nice camera as well. I realized my love for imagination and vfx over the years of watching these astonishing videos. Thank you for the hard work guys, just being here means everything.
Niko's laugh brings me unprecedented levels of joy.
You remember when you were a kid playing with your favorite building toys (Legos, Kinex, etc.) and you knew EXACTLY which colored part at this certain angle/conformation was needed to make your construction a reality? Or like when a chef (professional, or even someone in your family) knew what was missing in his/her recipe, pulled a few things out of the cupboard, and made your favorite meal? That's what practice and dedication look like.
Niko, you're an inspiration to me, man. You were pulling pieces of equipment off shelves, doing trial and error, and making reachable goals into real camera rigs that do what you want them to do. I'm no filmmaker, but seeing you happy & passionate makes me, as a watcher, feel the same way, too.

I’m not even tech savvy or interested in cameras but now I feel like I leveled up and learned so much and got so hyped from this video. I feel so weird that I’m so inspired and want to learn more! Thx!
That ending cut was absolutely PERFECT.
This video is everything I love about corridor crew.
TH-cam recommended this for reasons i'm not sure of, and all the photography terms flew clear over my head, but i still loved watching the making of a perfect camera
This is cool. I wish this camera also had proxy files which you can send wireless to the computer to rough edit to preview the shots as you record them. Then you can have a live editor quickly editing footage together right as you record it. This can help you preview the semi finished rough cut before you move onto a new take.
If there are mistakes, you can catch them then and there before you come back to the editing room. Also USB 3.0 fast charging and would be great as well. Lighter weight batteries available for easier carry, Live broadcasting to social media sites directly from all equipment. Also don't forget about auto syncing audio and video for all equipment with a global counter which everything can be set to. Then you never have to sync anything in post ever again.
Also sync settings for all cameras, so you can change a setting on all cameras at the same time while leaving some specific.
1:55 I love their eyes lighting up when they see the potential with the bright monitor.
How do you deal with the latency issues that comes with a wireless setup..have you experienced any connectivity issues too with wireless cross talk?
the pricier wireless setups made for pulling focus have a much lower latency
The latency of these things are in the 10s of milliseconds because as they show in this, thet are usually ne ee more than 100 feet away, at max, often walking with them to stay at a constant latency if they need it to be THAT perfict
Video latency is mostly non-existent. only about 2-3 milliseconds of video latency is introduced in the wireless transmission. In regards to focus pulling, any latency is more due to motor responsiveness than the wireless signal. Since it's analog radio, once again latency is only in the order of a few milliseconds.
So perfect that you have to match the speed of light! @be54877 - Which latencies are you talking about? Latency in audio is going to be so minimal compared to how long a video frame is that it won't make any difference. The wireless video monitor and radio transmission for doing follow focus will be significantly faster than the human reaction time to action the focus pull. Bluetooth audio monitoring could be a bit more latent, but then that's purely for _monitoring_. It shouldn't matter if thats a frame or two behind?
@Northern Productions ok, the only thing I know about analog signals in that is with drone racing so I dont know if the signals or description is different
I def like the spirit of this: fast rig changes, few cables, and efficient run&gun. But damn, the reality of batteries and all the variables of lenses, mounts, rigs, balancing, endless adjustments of incorporating that with commonly existing gear, might not actually save that much time or fiddlyness in reality. Would be great to see a followup on this after a few months/years. DEF cool camera toys and I'm envious! Thanks for taking us on the build.

everything has latency. But yes, wireless transmission has of course higher latencies than direct hardware wiring. Counter-question; Why would you care about humanly un-noticeable latencies for some live-feedback?
If your specific job is capturing audio, then latency isn’t really an issue as long as everything is syncing in the recording mix, since you’re going to be syncing the audio to video later in post anyways.

I am not sure if any camera companies used these great ideas in the latest 2024 cameras. As a novice, I just bought a used 2011ish Canon C300PL cinema video camera for $600 without a lens knowing that it was originally $16k so I am learning what might work and not work in camera design.
i like how clint is just walking around in his underwear
9:47 Woah, thats trippy AF It looks like its hovering!
Hey Corridor Crew :) I think it would be really interesting for you to make a video about why it is that Hollywood VFX look so realistic compared to that of, say, TH-cam film makers. l love your videos and obviously the VFX that you and others do is by no means bad, in fact some your work is outstanding, but when compared to Hollywood VFX it just seems like there is a noticeable difference in photorealism. It would be great if you could give your thoughts and explanations as to why you think this is. Obviously Hollywood has a lot more resources and money but I would love to know more about what it is that allows them to produce such high quality visuals and I think you guys would do great at explaining it.
Honestly I think it’s mostly time spent working on the vfx. Corridor doesn’t work on their videos for 1year+ each.
The answer to that is easy. Money. And time, which is money. TH-cam videos often have to actively bring in money for a whole crew of people, while not providing the same media reach as hollywood movies do, and often also not fully sponsored by some big movie companies with fat budget, risking losses of millions of dollars. Let's say 200 vfx artists working for half a year full time on a 2 hour movie.. then you can spend 1 hour of vfx-work... PER FRAME.
This build had me drooling. Love the solutions you came up with.
Watching this after the Ronin 4D came out feels like they're just describing that camera.

*Lateral move* ... I LOVE IT! I use a Hero 7 and despite all the hype around its superb image stabilisation, it suffers terribly in low light at 60fps. I prefer consistency across the board when shooting and editing at a consistent framerate, but anything above 800 ISO is grainy and anything below is too dark to notice its detail and resolution. Very informative, Niko. Good work!
For focus i would consider AR as it would help with shaking and sunlight

(note that I'm *not* a filmmaker, just a gearhead photographer, so please don't be too harsh and let me know if I'm missing something obvious)
A few things I can think off the top of my head that could be issues/limitations:
- battery management (mentioned in another comment)
- Sigma lenses aren't cine lenses (some design characteristics they don't have), and there's no EF mount cine lenses as far as I'm aware (maybe another mount with cine lenses with internal motors available?)
- latency on bluetooth audio (as far as I'm aware it's not THAT good)
- latency on video feed? (don't really know how good/bad it is)
- security for all the wireless connections (audio, video, controls)
- setup and management of wireless connections when there's more than one camera
- tighter integration of some of the things, like wireless audio that here is a bluetooth dongle hanging from the camera
Some things I'm not sure if are part of the spec:
- autofocus
- offloading video storage to something external (wirelessly)
Coming back to this video to give me ideas and inspiration for my own rigs. Using the E2 as a base, but that will be swapped out for the new F6 towards the end of the year.
Loved this video concept. A lot of this is super helpful for small teams and solo shooters. I'm thinking about making my own video on this same topic, but challenging myself to do it for under $10,000. Keep up the amazing videos. They are inspiration to us all 😊
