HOW I REVIEW:
As you might know from my „How I make a buying decision“ video: Rather than just looking at the pros, I like to evaluate the cons or flaws of an item and then evaluate if I can live with them. That is why in my video reviews I concentrate more on the cons of an item rather than going over all the features. Therefore everything shown is just a fraction of all the points that go into the verdict and score of an item.
DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A QUICKLOOK AND A REVIEW:
A Quicklook usually covers pre-production units or items that I only used for a short period of time. While Reviews cover final items that I have reviewed intensively.

For all my videos I decided not to include links for the products that I review. Everyone is living in different countries and therefore has to deal with different shipping and customs fees. That is why I would advice everyone just to Google the product within their country to find the best deals. For instance: I live in Germany, It wouldn’t make sense to give you a German link while you might be living in USA or Asia. I hope that is understandable.

I tried this one as a possible replacer for my Apex Raven and I found that the toolbelt feature does not work well here it was thought out to the Apex where it works as a charm. I like the extended outside pockets approach, the top flap zip and the the not so wide wings. Something that is much worse in the Chinera is the hook. It just comes off too easily. Some people complained about the “stiffness” of the hook in the Apex and they overcorrected it.
Something I appreciate is the water resistance. I have been caught in severe and the Apex has been awesome in keeping everything safe. While looking much better than all the Ortliebs around me 😄

Hey Bo long time viewer ! haven't seen your vids in awhile since the pandemic hit and boy was it a reclusive period in that time. (I previously commented on the Boundary Supply Errant bag video when it first came out during the kickstarter period)
Recently started looking up bags/edc enthusiast stuff again and just thought of your channel when it came to these. My first introduction to Carryology culture was through your vids. Always appreciate your insight on not just review but the culture aspect of things.
I finally joined the group on FB last April and its a very interesting community. I agree with you that all of this collab is really down to personal taste whether or not it is worth it to a person. It all just depends on what you value. I am not into hype culture but I understand why these are cool.
And for those who can buy it they appreciate it as you can liken it to works of art. For me, a bag is always a tool first and I am a tad old school. I prefer proven materials like Cordura or waxed canvas, so that automatically means most collab bags does not align with my value. But that does not mean I can't appreciate the bags that other people enjoy. You can enjoy something without owning it I believe, I genuinely enjoy seeing people with their carry choices whether collab item or not, because of what it means to each person with what they have choosen.
As anything in life, not all things are created equal, much the same not all collabs are created equal. Some are phenomenal and some are not. Law of diminishing returns comes into mind, so really thresholds are determined by yourself. As individual, you make your own choices. Develop a keen sense of what is good returns on your own satisfaction.
However, after joining the group I have grown a bigger appreciation on patches, and that to me is what I am into from that group as it the artistic and carry culture aspect of it that I appreciate. So its a fun niche, and I believe there is space for everyone whether you are into the collab/hype/drop culture or not.

Thanks. I can understand that these limited runs are a bit frustrating from a consumer perspective. But I can also understand that making these runs is very difficult as well. I don't have a good solution unfortunately. I guess it just comes with the territory of so specialized goods

Hey Bo, nice breakdown of this unique bag. It looks the same as the bellroy venture 22L. How would compare this capacity compared to new venture ready 26L? I’m not trusting of the liter rating of bags. Many thanks in advance.

Guter Rucksack, zufälligerweise sind meine drei meist genutzten Rucksäcke auch Collabs, obwohl ich Carryology mittlerweile ziemlich unsympathisch finde. Je nach Szenario nutze ich den the muir project von Trakke, CTB26 Phoenix 2 von Evergoods, oder den GRXC Guerillia von Goruck.
Na da hast ja auch recht günstige Exemplare ;-)

@@Youknowthebo mir gefällt das "aufkaufen" von anderen youtubern nicht und auch wenn die Materialien teils sehr exotisch anmuten, ist die Preisentwicklung einfach lächerlich. Leider etablieren sie die Kosten von 600-700€ für interessante Taschen gerade.
Danke für die ehrliche Antwort. Du meinst wahrscheinlich, dass zb Jt jetzt bei Carryology ist oder? Für ihn ist es ja wahrscheinlich schon ganz gut etwas mehr Reichweite zu bekommen.
Und das mit den Preisen kann ich auch verstehen. Jedoch hab ich auch für mich festgestellt, dass Taschen Herstellung in den kleinen Mengen und mit den Materialien schnell teuer wird. Versuche seit nem halben Jahr ne pouch für meinen Patreon zu machen. Und damn. Das ist ganz schön teuer, wenn man nur ein paar machen will. Das war auch nach meiner Doku ein ein Augen Öffner.
Aber von der Perspektive eines Käufers kann ich das voll nachvollziehen. Das ist ne Menge Geld. Da muss man schon mehrmals überlegen.
Hey Bo! Is this a good bag to carry on a motorcycle? When riding season comes around, I’ll be on a bike everyday. Would the hook come loose at highway speeds?
The hook did not come loose on a motorcycle. However, personally I don't like flap down closing bags on a motorcycle, because there is still a slight chance of water getting pushed in by wind when it is raining and you are on the highway. While this might be a low risk, I still rather have regular zippered openings (preferably with aquaguard zippers) when I am on my motorcycle

I appreciate you mentioning your association with Carryology and your reason for not giving this bag a review per se. In addition, your closing remark is very true. Carryology's collabs are never meant to please everyone, and you can choose not to purchase any collabs! But people are hating the group just because of a collab which they have a choice not to buy it, I honestly do not understand the logic. I think the "regular" version of the Chimera is perhaps the Venture backpack and between those two, I can see important differences, such as the back mesh/panel. But does it justify the price difference? Yes or no - there is no right answer because bags are so personal to one own's taste. But the most important, and if i may, the correct answer - is to respect one another's opinions and know that you have a choice to not buy it.
