My theory for what the story is: Dreamcatcher were just normal young girls at some type of boarding house but more and more they were getting into witchcraft. Their budding connection to the supernatural started to attract otherworldly beings that they finally noticed when Jiu saw the spider. She trapped it, not knowing it was a spirit. Yoohyeon, like some bratty siblings, probably just wanted to see what would happen if she burned it and unwittingly summoned the Spider Queen who started cursing them one by one. It gets a little vague after that as to who was doing what, but I think Dami, Siyeon, and Sua were looking to magic to try and help them, (though some say Sua might have been the first one possessed and the Spider Queen was working through her). And, I think what Siyeon has in her hand in the beginning is a storage tube that the picture of them is in, as you'll see in You and I, pictures have a lot to do with their magic. So I think the scene at the end, since they're in their white costumes, it's right when they realize they are being cursed so Sua cuts their group photo from the frame to be able to use it in whatever protection magic they can find. But, at the end, when Jiu realizes there's no escaping the curse and she runs to trap them inside which I think is to keep the world safe from them, but to also keep them together so they don't get lost. I think Jiu feels alot of guilt because she trapped the spider, enabling Yoohyeon, and you see this guilt play out through the rest of the nightmare series as she desperately tries to save Yoohyeon(who receives the brunt of the wrath for killing the spider).

One is of the cabal of witches who messed with a wrong entity and got cursed. The other is about a girl group who failed their first debut, then came back to haunt us. In my mind, almost everything in the Nightmare saga title tracks, and in many other songs as well, is a metaphor for the hardships they have endured, and of the inevitability of InSomnia and them meeting in the dreamworld. Chase Me was about a hotel haunted by nightmares, but also an announcement of a new girl group who you will not be able to resist chasing. Good Night tells of the Investigator's obsessive hunt for the girls who push back after running and hiding, but it is also the continuation of the announcement that however far you run, you cannot escape the nightmares of Dreamcatcher. And in Fly High... "We meet InSomnia in our dreams. We can't ever stop loving and needing InSomnia. We want to fall asleep with InSomnia every day. Now that we have found InSomnia, we don't hurt any more. We can fly high." Eating a rose reminds me of the Latin proverb "Per aspera ad astra", literally "through roughs to stars", but sometimes also translated as "through thorns to stars"; DC went through hell, ate metaphorical thorns, but now they are actually stars (I have no idea if it's just my dumb idea, a coincidence or if it was intended, but I lean towards it being intentional). theres lot of interesting videography on fly high. people said dejavu is their best mv, yes its beautiful but fly high subjectively is their best. the mood is perfect, the composition are perfect, the storyboard are perfect, the symbolism are perfect. the way they set the mood are subtle but efficient. the cold colour mood are used used to capture gloomy mood, while orange warmer colour mood evoke nostalgia feelings. also look at this part 1:15-1:17 doly zoom. this technique usually used to represent this sensation of vertigo, the feeling of 'a falling away from oneself' 5:48 dutch angle. used to create anxiety type of mood. also they create 3 pov, which are spider eyes, dreamcatcher eyes, and us. there's time where they look at us. kinda like 'mysterious mansion video' I nitpick alot when it come to music video esp dreamcatcher mv(cause I have high expectation) but theres nothing to be nitpick on fly high
first of all. sorry for those who are annoyed reading my geek stuff lol 1, odd eye: the best at showing the member charm, and dancegraphy are amazing, it make them look dynamic 2. BEcause: some of the composition and some scene are questionable, but the stylist, set maker slay 3. maison: visual are amazing, but some rotoscope are questionable, ik its hard since its 90% green screen but the videography are not complex enough. it kinda make them look less dynamic 4. other than the dance scene they take, everything is good 5. chase me, good night: I think they has lesser budget here but, everyone did a really good job. maison and boca probably are more expensive, but chase me and good night subjectively better imo

Hello, as a fan of Dreamcatcher, i will give you my theory, for the 3 MV you watched (in advance i'm sorry for my bad english, i'm french ^_^) : FLY HIGH : The girls are in a kind of old shool, and all of them have some attraction for esotericism and mystericism, Jiu like collecting and playing with strange animals (butterflies symbolise the death and can travel between life world and death world, Spider is a symbolism of the dark side of people), Yoohyeon like to experiment some death experiences (she burned the spider) and facinated by mirrors, Sua and Siyeon like to visit some dark places (foggy forest), Handong has some dark ideas symbolise by her black paperplane and make a suicide in the bath, Dami like to visit the ancient library to read some old incantation books, and finally Gahyeon are regularly visited by an old bride ghost with a candelar in her dreams, and the last scene with all of them forming a pentacle tell us they like to try some witchcraft experiences. I think the evil kill of the spider is at the origin of all the curses, Siyeon and Sua find the black book in the foggy, distorned forest wich is a gate to the death world and arrived totally possessed, and other possessed girls can be seen in their eyes, make up and outfit, Sua became the leader of the possessed group and stab the picture of them before, in the last scene of Jiu running, she try to escape from her dark side, but arriving at the portal she's felt in possession and close the entrance, to seal definitively all the girl in the building / black book... and they disappeared like ghosts. CHASE ME : the old school became an hotel many years after, and customers complain of seeing ghosts tricking and scaring them, so they call a ghost hunter, who come to investigate. The girls make fun by tricking him some nightmares and scaring visions to make him crazy, they also try some spells by themselves (they develop their witch skills as they do long time ago), but finally ought to the videos from the CCTV and his souvenir he remember wich door were crossed by Jiu when she walk to him at the first scene, it was a closed door without key, he become obssesed and broke the door with an axe, and after seeing the old picture of the girls, he have some visions of the girls before they become nigthmares... GOOD NIGHT : With those revelations of the picture, he decides to search in the archives of the building in a very old office, all the girls are watching him through the mirrors, and he discovers the black book, but in fact it's an enchantment of the girls who want him to unseal the book, so they can escape the dark area (dark side of the forest and building) in where they are trapped with their nightmares (they haunt people with their nightmare speciality but they also undergo them). After that, they stole the book through the mirror and burn the pages representing all the girls in the dark area, which make them get out, but this action lead to sacrifice the possesor of the black book into the dark world : the poor ghost hunter ^^ So they leave through the forest with the book in her hand (they become now expert witches), but by lack of attention, Dami drops the book, so the curse continues...

As expected, a bang-on analysis! I was super hyped for this one bc its hella plot-heavy and you're always good at figuring out tough ones like this. As far as I understand, everything was fine before and the burning of the spider precipitates everything. Jiu is the last to get corrupted, and knowing she's either about to be or already is tainted, closes the gate to seal them all in the complex which later becomes the hotel for Chase Me/Good Night. The album this was on is called Prequel, so that's a missing hint that you figured out on your own anyway. The teasers leading up to this release were pretty lore-heavy as well, it seems, so that's cool. You and I is next, also lots of plot in that one as the continuation long after they all escaped the boarding school/hotel in Good Night and continue their lives (or lack thereof) as nightmares.
It's fun trying to decipher the meaning of their M/Vs... Can be interpreted many different ways... Also, Native Americans have a legend that spider is a protector from the evil spirits... Perhaps Yoohyeon burning the spider caused the possessions of the members... (again one of million different possible interpretations...) Great reaction as always...!!!
I'm a bit late on this one but again loved your reaction! I like to believe everything in a DC music video has a meaning, maybe this isn't true but it's always fun and insightful to pretend. Which indicates some things must be on purpose because it fits so perfectly...
Yoohyeon scene with the mirror reminds me of the tales of bloody marry. So I'm guessing that she comes up to this mirror to summon the evil that gonna possess other members (which represents by all the black stuff oozing out of the mirror). Which means, she already possessed before that, or even the first one that got possessed.
The part of the video where JiU sees a doppelganger of herself playing the piano ALWAYS gives me goose bumps. EVERY TIME. Good lord. How many times have I seen this MV and it STILL happens? Yes, this is the prequel for the entire Nightmare arc and explains how/ why the ladies were cursed. It's Yoohyeon's character's fault; burning the spider angered the Spider God, setting everything in motion. The ladies were witches (or at leas some of them were, namely SuA and Siyeon but Dami was able to study as well in order to figure out what was happening and how to fix it, so she might have been one). Yoohyeon might or might not have been a witch herself but she caused the curse. Gahyeon may not have been a witch, since she was the first to be affected (whether outright possession or just corruption is a great question for the writers and video director). Han Dong may not have been a witch but she knew something was wrong (throwing a paper airplane made of Black paper is a sign of trouble). I theorize that JiU was not a witch in the dark sense; she was more of a nature-oriented, peaceful, healer type such as a Druid. I don't think she was outright possessed but I think maybe she did start to get corrupted so the butterflies burned off. She was still able to get away from her doppelganger and she was able to shut everybody in so the evil would not leave the school, so she was not actually possessed and she was still able to think for herself and worry about other people. They incorporated a WHOLE BUNCH of throwback Easter-eggs in BeCause. The MV was shot in France; the French National Flag is Blue, White and Red so the girls' uniforms are those colors. SuA stabbing and cutting the painting is so that it would get mounted in one of the picture frames that surrounded Dami while she was reading. The painting ties this MV to Chase Me. If you notice that very last scene outside, five of the ladies surround the other two, making the shape of a giant dream catcher on the lawn. I am GUESSING that the ladies of Minx surrounded Han Dong and Gahyeon, but I could easily be wrong. :)
Yes, I liked your reaction. I agree that the different outfits represent duality. If you think about it, if you wanted to represent duality wouldn't having 2 different outfits be the way to go? Yes this a prequel (the album is also called Prequel). I'm also pretty sure this mv is not in chronological order. Best to keep that in mind when watching their other mv's. There's even a difference in opinion about the order of the mv's. It will be interesting how you will see it. It will also be interesting what your reaction will be to Sua SinB's explanation video (after you watch the entire series of course, and what parts you agree/disagree with. I recently watched a VERY detailed explanation of the nightmare series from a channel called SuA's SinB. So the blue eyes are the ones who've become "possessed". If you watch again knowing this, the girls are separated at the dinner table by who has been taken over up to that point and who hasn't. There is, apparently, SO MUCH going on! I think it dives more into different theories and is more heavily analyzed including a track which is actually associated with the series that some insomnia do not account for. Jiu is the last to get corrupted, and knowing she's either about to be or already is tainted, closes the gate to seal them all in the complex which later becomes the hotel for Chase Me/Good Night. The album this was on is called Prequel, so that's a missing hint that you figured out on your own anyway. The teasers leading up to this release were pretty lore-heavy as well, it seems, so that's cool. You and I is next, also lots of plot in that one as the continuation long after they all escaped the boarding school/hotel in Good Night and continue their lives (or lack thereof) as nightmares.

Yoohyeon scene with the mirror reminds me of the tales of bloody marry.
So I'm guessing that she comes up to this mirror to summon the evil that gonna possess other members (which represents by all the black stuff oozing out of the mirror). Which means, she already possessed before that, or even the first one that got possessed.

The part of the video where JiU sees a doppelganger of herself playing the piano ALWAYS gives me goose bumps. EVERY TIME. Good lord. How many times have I seen this MV and it STILL happens?
Yes, this is the prequel for the entire Nightmare arc and explains how/ why the ladies were cursed. It's Yoohyeon's character's fault; burning the spider angered the Spider God, setting everything in motion.
The ladies were witches (or at leas some of them were, namely SuA and Siyeon but Dami was able to study as well in order to figure out what was happening and how to fix it, so she might have been one). Yoohyeon might or might not have been a witch herself but she caused the curse. Gahyeon may not have been a witch, since she was the first to be affected (whether outright possession or just corruption is a great question for the writers and video director). Han Dong may not have been a witch but she knew something was wrong (throwing a paper airplane made of Black paper is a sign of trouble).
I theorize that JiU was not a witch in the dark sense; she was more of a nature-oriented, peaceful, healer type such as a Druid. I don't think she was outright possessed but I think maybe she did start to get corrupted so the butterflies burned off. She was still able to get away from her doppelganger and she was able to shut everybody in so the evil would not leave the school, so she was not actually possessed and she was still able to think for herself and worry about other people.
They incorporated a WHOLE BUNCH of throwback Easter-eggs in BeCause.
The MV was shot in France; the French National Flag is Blue, White and Red so the girls' uniforms are those colors.
SuA stabbing and cutting the painting is so that it would get mounted in one of the picture frames that surrounded Dami while she was reading. The painting ties this MV to Chase Me.
If you notice that very last scene outside, five of the ladies surround the other two, making the shape of a giant dream catcher on the lawn. I am GUESSING that the ladies of Minx surrounded Han Dong and Gahyeon, but I could easily be wrong. :)

I'm also pretty sure this mv is not in chronological order. Best to keep that in mind when watching their other mv's. There's even a difference in opinion about the order of the mv's. It will be interesting how you will see it.

I recently watched a VERY detailed explanation of the nightmare series from a channel called SuA's SinB. So the blue eyes are the ones who've become "possessed". If you watch again knowing this, the girls are separated at the dinner table by who has been taken over up to that point and who hasn't. There is, apparently, SO MUCH going on! I'll provide the link but I strongly urge you to complete the nightmare series (ending with Breaking Out, not Piri).

I would personally suggest reacting to a whole story explanation after reacting to the nightmare series. I think it dives more into different theories and is more heavily analyzed including a track which is actually associated with the series that some insomnia do not account for.
