I almost got pulled down a river into rough rapids in front of my entire class + older students on a school trip cuz the water was only thigh deep, so it looked ridiculous--but I couldn't get up cuz the water was too fast and my body was numb from the cold, and no one was doing ANYTHING except watch and laugh despite me swearing up a storm at them and screaming "Don't just f*cking stand there, someone f*cking HELP ME!!!" 😅 Before I got too far down stream, a classmate who was a life guard walked in and got me out 😅😂😂. Sounds similar to my story. I was about 21, woke up one morning, couldn't be bothered to use my hand to get my hair out of my face so I just shook my head. When I did that I heard a pop and instantly was worried. I sat up in bed, felt like I was going to vomit, then felt like I was going to pass out. Called for my dad and he started helping me walk out to the living room when I completely lost my vision. Could not percieve light or anything, blind for a good 8-10 minutes. Felt every bump in the road on the way to the ER. Doc refused to do an x-ray or CT scan and insisted it was just a sparin. Gave me strong meds and sent me home. Have dealt with varying degrees of neck pain since. Eventually had a head and neck CT a couple of years ago. Praise God, nothing major, just need to have my cervical curve adjusted with exercise, but it was definitely a very scary experience.

You should do it now, if you wait until you’re older, you’re going to have a harder time healing and be less likely to walk again(especially if you wait until you’re elderly like some people do, they either stretch a a weeks long healing process into a year or they never get their full range of movement back and need a walking tool or wheelchair). The younger you are, the easier surgery is on the body. Unless they specifically told you to wait for a certain amount of development in the body(not your doctor so just guessing), but just make sure you don’t put it off past that
