  • In this travel vlog, I’m visiting Gaya Island Resort also known as small luxury hotels in the world (马来西亚沙巴亚庇), 15 minutes boat ride from Kota Kinabalu city centre, one of Borneo’s finest retreats. Nestled amid lush rainforests and crystal-clear waters, the resort offers a tranquil escape like no other. From the moment I arrived, I was captivated by its eco-friendly design seamlessly blending with the natural landscape.
Upon check-in, I received a warm welcome and enjoyed a refreshing drink, setting the tone for my stay. There are three types of rooms in Gaya Island Resort: Bayu Villa, Canopy Villa, and I opted for the Kinabalu Villa, room 804, boasting breathtaking views of Mount Kinabalu, which greeted me each morning with its majestic beauty. The spacious, elegantly designed room provided the perfect sanctuary after a day of adventure.
During my stay at Gaya Island Resort, I indulged in a myriad of activities, from Snorkeling in vibrant coral reefs to Jungle Trekking through the forests in search of exotic wildlife. From Kayaking through the Mangrove Forests to exploring the vibrant Sunday market at Gaya Street in Kota Kinabalu, each experience offered a glimpse into the rich culture and natural wonders of the region. The resort also offered cultural experiences, allowing me to immerse myself in the traditions and heritage of the local Bajau Laut community.
Highlights included a 5 minute boat excursion to the secluded Tavajun Bay, where I lounged on the pristine private beach and visited the Marine Centre to learn about conservation efforts. Witnessing sea turtles during the turtle talk and feeding the adorable red giant flying squirrels were truly memorable experiences.
Dining at the resort’s restaurants was another highlight, with a delectable array of Malaysian and international cuisine whether is breakfast, lunch or dinner served against stunning backdrops. But what truly stood out was the sense of tranquility, whether by the infinity swimming pool, indulging in a spa massage at Spa Village, or starting the day with rejuvenating morning yoga sessions.
As I bid farewell to Gaya Island Resort, I left with cherished memories and a renewed appreciation for Kota Kinabalu’s natural wonders. It was truly an unforgettable travel experience that I’ll treasure for a lifetime.
I hope you enjoy this video. If you don't know where to stay in Kota Kinabalu Sabah, I highly recommend choosing Gaya Island Resort for your trip to Kk Sabah Malaysia.
