Thanks for this. Never seen it before. My father Carl Frank appeared in episodes of this show. Years later Rosemary Rice created several children’s singing albums, hiring me. Yay!
As a teenager I Remember Mama was my favorite show and I still use Maxwell House Coffee can't say commercials don't work thank you for putting it on I wish there were more but kinescope isn't the easiest thing to watch
I remember mama was one of my favorite program when I was growing up in the forty and the fifty. You were lucky in those day to have a television and telephone in the same house.
Great show, Stu. Thanks for uploading it. I don't think I ever got this one from you. Your library is fantastic! I've enjoyed being a customer and a friend for more than 35 years. Amazing. I found some TV Connection stuff last night. LOL . Almost 25 years ago. A lot has changed over the years.
Do you know that to this very day I STILL drink nothing but Maxwell House Coffee, and all because of this show, which will always remain one of the most treasured memories from my happy childhood. I've been hoping someone would post episodes of Mama, but had been told they were all "lost," because of having been recorded on Kinescope, which supposedly disintegrates rapidly. I see there are other episodes posted now; this one was very late in series. I'm hoping to find some from 1950 and soon thereafter.
When Dick Van Pattern was drafted in the Army James Dean was hired as his replacement for Nels. Fortunately Pattern was declared 4F by the army and returned to the show. So Dean was un hired. Interesting if Dean stayed on he wouldnt have become James Dean.
Thank you for posting this. i am looking for a specific episode of Mama called dagmar's sorority sister and shown on the 6th May 1955. Have you by any chance come across it anywhere? Thank you
It may be unlikely you'll find many live / kinescope filmed episodes of Mama as those are largely lost. The final season of 26 filmed episodes all exist.
Van Patten looks a little older than a teenager here (which is I'm guessing the age he is supposed to be) and so does his girlfriend. God, that screaming kid was annoying. It's funny how summer camps haven't really changed that much in 100 years (says someone who has never been to one). It's cool to be able to watch this show - it's one I had heard of and always wanted to see.
I love the movie I Remember Mama. I didn't know there was a TV show as well! Can't get enough of this beautiful story.

Peggy Wood is best remembered for her characterization of the Mother Abbess in the film version of "The Sound of Music".

@@theannoyedmrfloyd3998 I know most are. I am hoping that like this one here, the one I am looking for somehow survived
"Yes, here's Mama..... "
Jeg elsker Moren!
Producers and directors seemed to care less about casting back then. Nels has a Brooklyn accent in San Francisco lol.

Dick Van Patten was 26 years old when he made this episode
Thanks! In the movie there was another daughter.
I wonder if the three aunts are in the series?
I've got my Maxwell House and a stovetop coffee percolator so I'll see what happens! ☕ 🐱 (Any advice appreciated lol)
