I read (and loved) Check & Mate. It definitely doesn't read very YA though. The characters are on the older side, and the only thing that really sets it aside from adult or new adult romances is the lack of explicit moments. So I do think you'll probably like it.

My thoughts exactly about the Swordcatcher cover! I loved the edges and end papers but that cover feels so weak? Not a fan tbh didn’t love the IC cover either 😂 I honestly think that’s one of my favourite boxes by illumicrate all year! Stunning SE and I loved all the items! Also I’ve only read 1 T. Kingfisher book but I give it 5⭐️! She has a crazy backlist so many to choose from, I definitely think you’ll find something you love!
I 100% felt the same about Sword Catcher. Love the original cover and was excited to see what we'd get, and then hmpf 😐 at least the naked book is pretty.
I did the opposite to you with Locked Library and Goldsboro. I kept Goldsboro - I think I’m pleased with the choice. I was surprised though that we had the double up there - I’m also somewhat disappointed with the January Locked Library for a similar reason
@@BeccaandTheBooks it’s just such an odd pick. That book has so many special editions -it just feels like a waste not to pick something that’s never had a special edition. I mean they could’ve always done an Archive of that book later than the line - it’s still so new as well really.
So intrigued on your overall thoughts Becca when it comes to Locked Library, I finished my membership of this with the book you showed by them in this unboxing. Looking at a majority of the titles against Goodreads the ratings aren’t fabulous in past boxes. I know it’s all about the reading and the experience but I am dubious. Perhaps we can buddy read a couple of them from the boxes if you like.

I read the Wizard's Guide to Defensive Baking by T. Kingfisher. It was absolutely adorable! Definitely on more of a YA side but super cute and fun!

I really enjoyed Check & Mate and I think you will too. I don't really think it reads like YA.
I hated the Fairyloot Sword Catcher cover. Just awful. I sold it.
