From the sounds of it the Touchpads will be a really great way to play the Steam Deck from what r/SteamDeck is saying which is DOPE! Glad you liked the background haha
@@MangoTalksTech I havent either but i watched a few videos of people who had them go over the features that are available with the steam controller and its so customizable its insane. They definitely sold me on at least giving them a fair chance instead of just disabling them like i originally intended
The LCD is an IPS panel so colour reproduction should be good. The touch pads are not a gimmick, they are there to aid in the navigation of keyboard and mouse games and general PC use.
Good to know the LCD is an IPS panel! The device also has a touchscreen so I’d assume that would be a far easier input method for navigating the handheld. Now, from what I read on r/steamdeck steams controller touchpads were really good, so I am looking forward to experiencing the touchpad implementation on the steam deck!
@@MangoTalksTechThe touchpads are because some of us like to look at our pc screens moving a mouse pointer, not at the back of our hands which are now blocking the screen because we are using touch and if you're unlucky enough to have sausage fingers then you are screwed :P......i personallly barely tolerate touchscreens on phones so have no interest at all using it on a pc, so the touchpads are perfect for me, especially as i plan to play alot of strategy games and point and click adventure games on it
@@lemonscampi great input! As someone who doesn’t dabble too much into the strategy genre of games your insight makes a lot of sense! It never struck me how viable touchpads would be for those types of games. Y’all have definitely changed my perspective on the touchpads :D
Good video btw! Someone has already talked about the screen, so my comment is gonna talking about the no performance boost while docked. And to me thats a good thing! You gotta keep on mind that the switch, when in handheld, is actually undercloced, thus why when dock it gets more performance becausee it wasnt at its base clocked. Steam deck however, will be at full performance, even in handheld! And you have the option, to have a battery saving mode or performance mode.
You do not lose vibrance or constrast because of the anti-glare etched glass, however The Verge didn't realized that what it's going to look like if they don't provide enough light for their camera (which the reflective panel on the "standard display" provide but not the anti-glare one which doesn't reflect the light as much on the camera). Also both devices have the same LCD panel, just the glass differ, so there is no way there could be a difference in constrast. Look at other people that captured the difference between the two glasses and you'll see that there is just a subtle difference in how the glass reflect light and not a difference in the image expect maybe if you zoom enough to see individual pixels.
Thank you for taking the time to clarify this! From the B Roll the verge captured I was under the assumption that the difference between the glare screen and anti glare screen would be significant. From the way you have explained it, this should in fact not be as significant of a difference as I interpreted. Nevertheless I’m looking forward to the steam deck! Also I’ll probably edit that portion out.
The other interesting thing about the load times that should be noted is that all the games were installed on the micro sd so regardless if you purchased the low end one that's the performance you will get
That’s a great point! That’s a very important detail, and I’m glad you brought it up. That makes me even more excited to see what performance will be like on the nvme ssd’s if this is the how games load via micro sd.
I did not touch the razer synapse settings for the mic, as it wasn’t out when I reviewed it, so I guess it was all default. The key to getting good sound from it is to have it relatively close to you when using it.
@@MangoTalksTech Oh okay, thanks anyways, its just everytime i use a mic for some reason its always quiet people say and everything is always turned up to 100% and mic is always close to me
The Switch, doesn't receive any "boost" when docked. It instead loses performance when it's undocked. Power consumption is reduced to save battery power. This is why Switch is a console, and not solely a handheld. SDeck, is designed to be a handheld (UMPC). Although capable, It's not intended to connect to a TV, and be used with detached controllers (a requirements for the console definition). This is why Steam says it's NOT a console.
Console is a dedicated gaming device that is solely focused on facilitating entertainment. Steam Deck is a full fledged PC that presents itself as a console on the surface level.
First time seeing this video--like no disrespect homie the caption can be distracting-I’m not sure if it’s loud color and or it being flickering on and off the screen but I struggle to watch you and cap 😓 With that being said -I’ll still drop a like thanks for the info
Hey! Firstly thanks for dropping the like means a lot :D Secondly thank for keeping it real and providing me feedback! The captions are something I am experimenting with and will definitely tune. You’re not the only who has mentioned this concern and I will definitely work on optimizing the viewing experience!
Great review, I also wonder how they will make the touchpad useful. Great background by the way.

I'd probably imagine it's going to be very similar to the steam controllers touch pad
@@JohnRodriguezVodnikHOTS interesting, as someone who never tried the steam controller I’m looking forward to experiencing the touchpads!

Thanks for supporting the Steam Deck. I want so much to play the game I'm producing called Parallel on this device🙏

They said it's already running at its max performance without the dock. It's not being throttled when on the dock like the switch is.
