INSANE Street Food in KOREA (EXPENSIVE!!) 🇰🇷

  • I toured this street food area in Myeongdong to get rid of my last bit of Korean cash. I had about 35,000 KRW, which is about $25 USD. Things are definitely not cheap, but I have to say, the food is really good. What was your favourite thing? How are the prices compared to your country?

Yeah you are right about the dog meat issue. People just pick on China for everything, even when it’s common phenomenon among several countries.

Interestingly, translated Chinese words can be seen everywhere on the stalls, but Koreans have been saying on the Internet that they do not welcome Chinese tourists.

When you eat meat in Korea, please be careful that it is not dog meat. Dog meat is popular dish in Korea so be careful when you eat meat in Korea.

This seems to be a national tradition of Koreans, not just a specialty of South Korea. Koreans who go to other countries also retain this tradition, but this tradition seems to be changing or disappearing over the years.

This sugar-coated haw comes from China, which means hawthorn (or other fruits) wrapped in melted sugar. It has been very popular in South Korea in the past two years. I still remember that some people used to sell it at a European market, but it did not become popular,Maybe Asian people prefer this style of dessert? There is a similar way to eat it in Japan, which is to wrap apples in caramel, and in China, there are also ways to eat cooked apples or sweet potatoes wrapped in caramel.

You only see in the western media that China eats dog meat, eating dog meat is not common in China. But what you don't see in the Western media is that eating dog meat in Korea is a much more common phenomenon. People in China don’t really take dog meat as regular protein source and it’s more expensive to have a dog meat cuisine in city area due to its rareness.
