One thing I would say is this framing of it being polarised equally, it's just not equal. Theres a massive differece between an ongoing deliberate, evil genocide, and a terror event one day a year ago (I understand there are still a handful of ppl being held captive, but this is on both sides, and probably larger in scale and horror inside the Israeli prisons). A genocide is taking place now and you have to put as much pressure on those committing it to stop it...that means sanction, public shaming of the Israeli leadership, the recognition of Palestine, the ceasing of weaponary, the expulsion of official Israeli propagandists from our country and TV screens. If I, a common man with no official experience in this sort of thing, can work it out why can't they?
Here, here, well said. Absolutely correct. A UN military presence should have been deployed in the first month. Biden should have shut off the weapons tap from the off or someone should have registered Biden with a nursing home. Yes Oct 7th was tragic and any loss of life on either side is a waste, but 1200 lost on one day does not justify 42,000 killed over a year. The children alone killed, amounts to a classroom full each and every day for a year. If it was just left to the BBC, we'd be forgiven for thinking all is peaceful and dandy in Gaza, nothing to report, no humanitarian crisis, no genocide. Thankfully alternative media such as Democracy Now, Declassified UK, Double Down News, Novara Media, Owen Jones, The Watermelon Reports, etc. have given a different, truer picture than the complicit BBC.
Emily Thornberry should be careful..A minister who stated early on that Israel's right to self defence 'should include cutting off all food, water, power & aid' to the people of Gaza.
It's simply politics! Whilst the Tories were brazenly and wilfully complicit in the Genocide. The Labour party haven't really done much to condemn nor sanction Netanyahu, his government and boycott the state of Israel generally. As far as I am aware the UK has yet to stop the majority of arms sales to Israel and also complicit. The Labour government continue to provide political cover for Israel.
You should have put sanctions in place when the first settlements were illegally built because yes they fuled the conflict and the sense of impunity. And the settlements are funded and politically backed by the government, sanctioning individual settlers is not enough. And trade with the settlements should never have happened because their stealing ressources that don´t belong to them even if it´s just water, the ICJ said as much this year.
To much sitting on the fence Britain,it’s appalling they are still talking, and we all know why.The elephant in the room is Britain sent the Jewish people to Palestine after the war so just admit you were wrong and do the right thing now and help the Palestinian people
United Nations Security Council Resolution 2334 was adopted on 23 December 2016. It concerns the Israeli settlements in "Palestinian territories occupied since 1967, including East Jerusalem". The resolution passed in a 14-0 vote by members of the U.N. Security Council (UNSC). Four members with United Nations Security Council veto power, China, France, Russia, and the United Kingdom, voted for the resolution, but the United States abstained. The resolution states that Israel's settlement activity constitutes a "flagrant violation" of international law and has "no legal validity". It demands that Israel stop such activity and fulfill its obligations as an occupying power under the Fourth Geneva Convention.
I'm sorry but when did the Israeli government state that they wanted a two state solution? I don't remember that ever being a part of their stated goals. And if that is indeed true, where did this rhetoric come from?
Let's prioritize stopping the genocide over annexation for now, afrer all we are talking about living, breathing human beings. I dont know how the world will ever get past what's happening.
Indeed, a huge travesty for the whole of humanity. 16,000 innocent children lost and thousands more orphaned or maimed and no country intervened at any stage, just chatter from the sidelines.
Why is it all the EX ministers come out and say the truth. It should be the CURRENT ministers. Sickening how UK has caused all of this and continues to support
Ah yes, the age-old 'shoulda, woulda, coulda' syndrome which, as per usual, is absolutely useless after the fact. Been the same with drug policy over the years (not equating drug policy with the Gaza/Israel situation - merely MP's ability to have miraculous hindsight after they've lost the power to change anything and the onus is on the next government to make the difficult decisions).
Especially when the support of them is seemingly unconditional. If nothing they do can cause us to turn our backs on them, then what influence can we possibly have? We're like a teacher who constantly threatens the class with consequences but never follows through, and then in surprised that the students never listen to him.
@joepiekl given what they have done and our failure to condemn them, I genuinely don't know what they would have to do for us to stop supporting them. Really what else is left after genocide?
Israel going to listen if Uk asked them ? Hahaha joke. He knows very well what is doing. Create Palestine State, you can be secure when you stop occupying Palestine! Specially when was Uk when created all this problem in the first place.
West Bank Settlements must be transferred to the Palestinian authority. This would constitute reparations of sort. Settlers removed within Israel pre 1967 borders. Anything else is an absurdity.
The ICJ clarification of July 19, 2024 states: 1Israel must leave all illegally occupied territories (Gaza, West Bank, East Jerusalem... Golan Heights). 2 Israel and all supporters of the illegal occupation are obliged to pay reparations (USA, UK, Germany...)

@@CaptainCanuck68 nutteryahu won his election campaigning against it and yet the vile clintons blame the Palestinians!! clinton offered them a state only if they would concede more land to Israel and forget about anything for the refugees plus a west bank cut up into 4 sectors with checkpoints??
Full of bs you clowns must have been born yesterday if you think that the looney have took over.
Even barely that. They are literally against it. They said it
@WorldFighter95 they have legislated against it and nutteryahu won his first election campaigning against it
SHAME on GERMANY, UK, FRANCE !!!
- Terr. Netanyahu regime let the attack happen on the own country, despite knowing about the attack 3 days before it happened.
- Music festival was organised with lot of foreigners just 3 miles away from the border. On whose order?
- Music festival was extended by one day as the attack did not happen when it was thought to happen. On whose order?
- Noticing that music festival cas.ualty were less, used IDF to increase the ca.sualties in the music festival. On whose order?
It's too late for two state. One state. One nation and equality under the law.
Israelis would never agree to that.
@@moyrablackie1The way things are now, Israelis wouldn't agree to do anything. There needs to be massive international campaigns of pressure, while at the same time strengthening the voices of sanity that do exist within Israel, as small as they may be.
Beyond pathetic. Being afraid of being called nasty names is not an excuse for any crime, let alone the worst crime of participating in a genocide.
'Coooorrrbyyyn' Start a new party....
Lessons will be learned and we should have done this, and that. Complete nonsense. We know what has been going on for decades!!!! Absolutely disgraceful.
Can't believe this is a Tory casually speaking truth. Good on you sir. Though it's a bit late.

Some of us have known for a long time...
Including covviiddd
" We could have had a boycott of settlements . . . much earlier . . ." . . . "10 years or so ago might have helped' ! !
Jesus Christ, a Tory with a brain?!? I'm gobsmacked.
Yes, they have brains when they leave office!
But why now ?
Certainly wouldn't give any credit to (corrupt or worse) members of parIiament towing the Iine , apart from a handful few that have been genuineIy protesting against the ApartheidGEN0SIDE state
Well there is Alan Duncan he's been consistently critical of Israel to be fair.
Amazing how people (especially former politicians) always find moral courage or their moral compass when it no longer matters for their career.
Thornberry also seems to have found her voice, about a year too late
She's a ghoul
Yes. She should never be forgiven for defending Kier's support of war crimes.
Was thinking the same, she was quiet when it counted. Better late than never, but don’t forget this one, she might just be better at reading the writing on the wall.
She's wrapping herself but she's in trouble already
As predicted, here it comes, the excuses and the could have would have should have. Complicit cowards!
Emily Thornberry should be careful..A minister who stated early on that Israel's right to self defence 'should include cutting off all food, water, power & aid' to the people of Gaza.
So, the minister is able to say what he wants once he's out of power. Why is this?
Alistair Burt has always been one of the more thoughtful and honest Tories.
No such thing
“Exceptionalism” is a HUGE understatement.
It may be the time has come..... unbelievable. All those dead, maimed and orphaned children, for a whole year. All that nigh on a century injustice.
Given all that they ‘should have’, what are they going to do now to make up for their lack of action? Talk about it?
You should have put sanctions in place when the first settlements were illegally built because yes they fuled the conflict and the sense of impunity. And the settlements are funded and politically backed by the government, sanctioning individual settlers is not enough. And trade with the settlements should never have happened because their stealing ressources that don´t belong to them even if it´s just water, the ICJ said as much this year.
Huh
Unfortunately for humanity the Tories did nothing. Starmer, Lammy and the Refoam clowns are just as bad.
They’re all jumping off the almighty sinking sh*t ship!
No-one can say they didn’t know…This has been a political choice from Day 1.
Jeremy corbyn needs a public apology.
To much sitting on the fence Britain,it’s appalling they are still talking, and we all know why.The elephant in the room is Britain sent the Jewish people to Palestine after the war so just admit you were wrong and do the right thing now and help the Palestinian people
I can hear some truth here. Good for him!!! At last.
Cowardly, too little too late
@liamoconlocha3264 Sadly, we have to give individuals the benefit of the doubt. It's the Israel government that f*** this up.
@LuzDoSol-yr5bv sure, and their greed was accepted the whole time by the major western players
40,000 deaths later
@elleJay-mb4yn well stated
Wake up England it is your people who started this horrific injustice and now it is England who has the right to stop this period!.
These people are spineless pathetic heartless monsters, these are the same people that called everyone antisemitic for supporting BDS.
These politicians need to be voted out. The admission right now is mealy mouthed.
They started all this shit in the first plsce.
Yes !!! BALFOUR DECLARATION 1917
Why is it always after they left office?. Complete cowards.
Emily is a rogue actor!!!
She's annoyed she never got a cabinet position and right upto now she has been FINE with everything.
oh very brave now that he will suffer no consequences. Jeremy Corbyn vindicated again.
And now it's all a bit 'oops, my bad- bit late now innit'. Absolute disgrace and Thornberry is the absolute worst.
Do these select committees actually act on all this evidence
Rarely
I'm sorry but when did the Israeli government state that they wanted a two state solution? I don't remember that ever being a part of their stated goals. And if that is indeed true, where did this rhetoric come from?
Their stated goals now are one country, no arabs

And we won't even touch 'great Britain'.
Really glad to see a dose of realism at the foreign affairs select committee!
Theatre all together now
Israel would listen to Britain “as a friend” - he must be joking - I would suggest the phrase “duplicitous ally”
They find their moral compass the moment they leave their positions of power.
Why is it all the EX ministers come out and say the truth. It should be the CURRENT ministers. Sickening how UK has caused all of this and continues to support
The UK needs to wake up and see what they have helped enable
Jesus Christ! - How on earth do you decide on what to have for dinner?!
Yupp!
4:33 it's not like they listen to us anyway...
Shameless that it took her so long to- karma will visit the hypocrites
A friend Where's that arrest warrant?
They know the real deal. But they still fart around like cowards! THEY MAKE ME SICK!
Israel going to listen if Uk asked them ? Hahaha joke. He knows very well what is doing. Create Palestine State, you can be secure when you stop occupying Palestine! Specially when was Uk when created all this problem in the first place.
Rank cowardice! Bravo!
Absolutely 💯% A Free independent State of Palestine 🇵🇸🕊️✌️ NOW RIGHT NOW
Outlaw ...Labour and Conservative friends of Israel
West Bank Settlements must be transferred to the Palestinian authority. This would constitute reparations of sort. Settlers removed within Israel pre 1967 borders. Anything else is an absurdity.
❤ Just Thank God people are finally bloody listening and seeing. Please do something. PLEASE!!!!!
Exactly what Corbyn said!
