#motorinc. I don’t believe on few points This is the best in market w.r.t performance and results . Just believe F77 and move one Experienced rider of F77
@@motorinc Very Much true, Like I said only a few parts I don't get convinced but the majority outcome is perfect 🤩 👌. Looking for more interesting videos!!!
Hello MotorInc! Just wanted to give my 2 cents on the bike since I was one of the first few guinea pigs who bought the Mach 1. Will try and add points to what was already discussed in the EP. Upgrades: 1. The software upgrade is FREE for all the previous owners which is a positive, however, you do have to change the aux battery for 3k in order for the security systems to function when the bike is not armed. 2. The added REGEN levels are a big boon considering the first iteration was not noticeable between different modes. Also, the ability to change it on the fly (no pun intended) is helpful when you are entering city limits from your highway rides or vice versa. This was not available earlier. Regen levels 7-8 works best in the city and 2-3 on the highways. If you want to do the occasional lavasa twisties, ballistic and regen 9 is recommended as it mimics a stronger engine braking setup. 3. For Mach 1 owners, it’s a 24k upgrade if you want the panel/color upgrades to Mach 2. I did not go for it considering the color combos look good. For reference, I have a Shadow color scheme which was earlier 2 shades of grey but now has red for an amazing contrast. The plastic quality as discussed has improved significantly. Earlier it was prone to scratches a lot, now not so much. 4. During the upgrade they also changed the chain (free of cost), better quality for sure. Usage: The bike has two moods, one in the dry and the other in the wet. It’s fun, fast and efficient in the dry (totally how you want to ride it). In the wet, it changes character to a dirt bike because of the design flaw in the rear mud guard. If you ride hard, the spray from the rear soils the motor, the rear seat, your back and also goes over your helmet. If you are really careful with the throttle you will still ruin your rear seat. So if you don’t have a raincoat handy, good luck with your laundry bills! 1. As discussed in the EP, for anyone buying this for a sports bike experience shouldn’t. It is a really fast accelerating commuter (in the right mode). Can you tour on this - Yes you can! But your patience is tested when you are charging after every 180-200 kms. 2. Charging times from 20-90: ~3 hours (Don’t recommend charging beyond this especially when touring). A boon, most hotel owners don’t ask for money for charging if you have an accommodation or when you have stopped for lunch. I managed to do a 1000kms ride from Pune to Konkan and back for Rs.400 3. Maintenance is affordable as service cost are in between 2-2.5k per service. 4. Riding is effortless, love the whine from the engine. My friends complained it sounds like a really sophisticated food processor. But WTH! Response to feedbacks: Team UV has been very responsive to clarify concerns, however, the resolution time depends on the problem. 1. Software glitches: gets addressed immediately. They can monitor your riding and precisly pin-point what the issue is. 2. Software errors related to hardware components takes a bit more time due to part availability (usually shipped from Bangalore) 3. Other parts such as the rear mud guard design is flawed and the feedback given 1.5 years earlier is still not addressed. I hope this helps someone wanting to own this bike. But as Shumi says, Test Ride and then evaluate.
@@motorinc been great! The diagnosis when required is spot on. The best part is that they are very transparent and dont overcharge you. However, the pune center doesnt have a washing facility, so you get the bike as you give them.. Even after i got the bike upgraded to Mach 2 kit it still looked the same grimy looking bike i gave them
Transparency from shumi is incredible! I personally want Ultraviolette to succeed. I look forward what f99 brings to the table. F77 holds potential, but it's early to give it chance for everyone* . We need more improvements in f77 and affordability factor to make it consumer friendly. Advice for Next iteration Adjust footpeg. Bigger handlerbar. Adjust suspension. Bit big seat to adjust riding position. Listen to Shumi sir when he provides solution.
@@HotPaniPuri back in 2010, I bought the first gen R15 after reading Schumi’s written review in BS Motoring. This was before TH-cam reviews took over. Spent so many years and miles riding the beautiful machine! All thanks to the man’s passionate words
As a previous 2023 F77 Recon owner.. i received the M2 performance (10-level regen and TC) for free.. They also had color panel and tank hatch updates that were paid.
@@motorinc after the Mach2 upgrade.. started out similar to what you said.. Lever6/7.. but as I got more comfortable with the regen.. set to the highest level 9.. now that is my default in the city all the time.. aggressive riding.. barely use brakes On highways I use level 2/3
@@HarishBabuM EVs don't have engine (ofc) and hence do not have engine braking like normal bikes do. So without this regen if you close the throttle then the bike just continues going ahead and only natural physics (air drag / friction etc) would slow it down. EV Companies now give a regen/regeneration option that basically intentionally slows your bike down when you close the throttle. This helps in few things. 1. the feel of engine braking 2. Bike slows down without the need of using brakes 3. Bike intentionally slowing down actually regenrates some power (hence the name) which will actually increase your range TC is traction control Basically if you accelerate and due to whatever reason maybe you give a bit too much throttle / maybe there's gravel or its wet or due to any reason if while accelerating, the back tire spins more than the front, this means it is sliding and can be dangerous especially if the bike is at a lean. Hence TC monitors the tire speeds of both the wheels and while throttling if the back tire has higher speed than the front one, it reduces the throttle input till the two tire speeds match. Levels will just adjust the intensity Higher Regen will give a higher braking once you close throttle This would be good in city as you'll use brakes less This would not be convenient in highways as you'll always have to keep throttle open else you'll slow down fast Higher TC level basically means you're bike is extra sensitive to the back tire sliding It will reduce the throttle input whenever it thinks that the back tire will spin This is good for safety but this might intervene a lot and can annoy the rider. Keeping it at a lower level means less intervention, rider feels like he/she has more control over the vehicle. And you allow the back tire to slide a bit while accelerating, which can be fun as well. IG burnouts can be possible only if TC is off (not sure)
The reason for dropping the modes at significantly higher range could be voltage or current limitations . The battery at that charge state might not be able to support the power required by motor. Even though it has energy capacity.
I live in Chennai. I was out shopping and it seems another ultraviolet F77 is in works. I saw the test bike. It was completely covered but just seeing the headlights and design, you could find out it was an ultraviolet. The roads are not good at that place, the road is made of potholes. The working of the suspension in that bike was so good to see. The person who was testing it was in full gear and was taking the bike intentionally on the worser parts of the bad road. It just seemed interesting to me. I wanted to share this with you all. Happy riding.
@@HarishBabuM Basically what Khshitij is suggesting is 'While TVS's investment in Ultraviolet may be a positive thing like 'association with a stable brand', but it could hinder Ultraviolet's ability to fully develop high-performance sporting motorcycles, as TVS's focus is inherently more commuter-oriented instead of building ultra-cut through precision performance products. This duality may dilute Ultraviolet's brand identity and restrict its design and engineering decisions, preventing them from realizing its potential.
I have no plans to buy an electric bike any time soon nor am I into sports bikes in general, but listening to Shumi and Karthik talk is so captivating that I'm hooked :D Regarding the conservative limits for the various ride modes, why can't they simply let the user configure it? Maybe set the defaults to 30% and 20%, but let the user go into the settings and change it based on their preference. That would give them an additional data point for how their customers are actually using the bike.
You guys are the best motorad reviewers on the planet. Been following shumi since powerdrift days. I can't imagine buying a vehicle without having the review from these guys. Hats off and commendable work on every video!!!
Wanted to say thanks for a tip in one of the older podcasts. It was in one of those where you discussed in off-road to not fight the bike too much and to sort of go with the flow. Today our university parking lot was full of slush from the rain and it also had an uphill exit. I managed to get the scooter out of it without falling by going slow, not braking and a lot steering left right and not panicking when it slipped left or right hit steering accordingly. I don't know if it was correct but at least I didn't fall into the mud.
Does choosing the lower variant with 7kW battery pack make the handling and weight distribution better? If I remember right, in the brochure it was mentioned this is 10kg lighter compared to the 10kW variant.
I've been using the Mach 2 Recon for the past 3 months, absolutely no regrets! And yes, the Violette AI does seem gimmicky, hence I did not buy the AI pack.
@@motorinc I love the way it looks, not much maintenance is required, didn't want to burn fuel unnecessarily in the traffic of Pune City. My rides are well within the real world range of the Recon variant. It costed me around 4.5L on road in Pune, whereas, I would have to spend a lot more on fuel and maintenance for an equally priced IC motorcycle.
Thanks, Motorinc, for this awesome video! I just wanted to add a few thoughts from my own experience. I used to own this bike before I sold it. My thinking was that if I’m spending over 4 lakhs on a bike, I should be able to do some touring with it. But that turned out to be pretty challenging with this model. For city riding, it’s great-you save a lot on fuel, and it’s super easy to commute with. However, once you take it outside the city, things get tricky. To really maximize its range, you have to maintain a speed between 30-40 km/h, keeping the kWh usage under 40. Plus, things like road elevation and wind resistance can really eat into the range, increasing power consumption a lot. So, if you’re thinking about getting this bike for both city riding and weekend touring, I wouldn’t recommend it. The charging stations are pretty far apart-most are at least 100 km from Bangalore. I actually had a bad experience when the Supernova charger didn’t work. Thankfully, I had brought the standard charger with me, but it took forever to find a local shop to plug in. It was a huge hassle, especially with no customer support available on weekends, so you’re pretty much stuck if something goes wrong. The standard charging time is about 9 to 10 hours for the Recon model, and even the boost charger takes 7 hours. Also, the numbers claimed by the manufacturer are really hard to achieve in real life. One more thing-the bike uses a Type 6 charging port, which is the same as Ola’s, but I tried using their charging station for the F77 out of curiosity, and it didn’t work. I really think they should switch to a CCS2 charging port, which would give us access to a much broader network of car charging stations across India.
@@motorinc it wasn't easy and resell value dips alot and you need to find a buyer who is really interested. It took about 3 months to get it off my hands.
Hi guys, you both are amazing! i think your deatiled input about cars and bikes, is very helpful for us. I have seen your episode on tvs jupiter 110 and it was simply brilliant!! i don't know how to drive a scooter or a bike but after watching your show i wanted to start riding immediately!! thank you both for doing what you do and helping us and guiding us with your precious inputs about both cars and bikes. Thank you once again!
Bought the Mach 2 original variant a month ago and i love the feel it gives. The stance is somewhat difficult though and sometimes causes some pain in the wrist and shoulders but that maybe a my problem more. Im planning a trip to some outskirts nearby Pune. Lets see how it performs.
With everything you mentioned about the chassis, suspension, motor and battery size do you think a different form factor would have been a better choice than the sports bike design, considering the motor and battery setup? - Updated - I asked this question before watching the end summary.
Hi, I want to share a few insights as an Electronics engineer and a long term EV user and enthusiast. 1. Power = Vtg × Current. As the battery pack discharges, the motor has to draw more current to generate the same amount of power. So, the limit for top performance modes being limited when certain discharge happens is NOT just a range issue. It is also to protect the motor and the cells because high motor and cell temperatures are directly related to higher current draw and causes shorter life of those components. 2. Never charge your new EVs and phones partially, whatever any youtube video tells you. All the optimisation of additional spare capacity and minor current cell balancing is all done internally. Once you start charging, always let the charger auto cut off. If your usage is extremely low, you should still ensure your battery pack charges to full and auto cuts off atleast twice a week. This ensures the state of charge reading does not go awry.
Hey @darshanmakwana4914! Its becoming quite common. Dis/charging batteries to the extremes, very low and very high both cause a rise in the long term decay the battery receives. So limited max charge can extend life by a small margin
A suggestion for future bike Firsts: when discussing riding position, showing the actual riding position with a person in the inset video would help to understand and compare between bikes.
As an f77 Recon Shadow owner (done 15k+kms) which got Mach 2 software upgrades for free. I really felt that REGEN with a hand lever would prove much more practical & efficient. Also it would’ve been nice if they’d replaced the Charging lid and rear number plate holder for free because they’re the cheaper bits on Mach 1 and tend to wobble a lot.
Loved your episode, but I also love and I may agree to the idea of UV F77 being a street bike rather than a sports bike. I however, love the aviation marketting thing and especially the stickering and all, because of my huge affinity to Aviation in general, and I find aircrafts really cool. On a bike, it may not be Shumi's taste but, it's kinda mine and I take it in a light-hearted fun manner. Since, I'm not a pilot, but have watched Top Gun and Top Gun:Maverick and spent a few hours on various old school Combat Flight Sim games like Novalogic MiG-29 Fulcrum, F-22 Raptor, F-16 Falcon, DID:Total Air War, and some new school sims like DCS:World (much more complex and realistic for what you see on a computer), I think I may or may not be qualified for 'schooling' you (while using wikipedia to confirm my knowledge 😜, and this is just for fun and in light-hearted and jovial terms) on what Fox Codes are in simple terms. It's not the number of pylon/hardpoint from which the missile is fired. A Fox code represents the type of Air-to-Air missile a combat aircraft is firing. This is used by NATO(Western) air crafts, as a standard procedure, depending on the rules of engagement. There are 3 Fox codes - 1) Fox 1: Semi-Active Radar Homing. This kinda missile only receives Radar signal reflected from the adversary aircraft, which The Attacking Aircraft uses it's own radar to "light up" the adversary aircraft, and the missile homes into the site picture painted by the aircraft. Here, the type of missile is dependent on the Attacking aircraft and its radar picture, for guidance. 2) Fox 2: Infra-red Homing. These are the missiles commonly known as Heat-seeker missiles. They are fired from the Attacking Aircraft, and these type of missiles home themselves (hopefully) into the adversary aircraft's Engine's Hot Exhaust's Heat Signature. Here, Radar isn't involved. The missile is guided by the heat signature. 3) Fox 3: Active Radar Homing: These missiles have their own radar tranciever, that is, it can emit and receive radar signal. This is a smarter type of a missile, into which the Adversary aircraft's info is fed into by the Attacking Aircraft electrically before firing. This missile autonomously tracks and hits it's targeted then. There's a mention of Guns as a Fox 3 code in the olden days, but now, it's the Active Radar Homing missile that stands for Fox 3. This is what these 3 basic types of Air-to-Air missiles are designed to do. They can be countered with different counter measures that it, by maneuvering the target aircraft (if they are aware that they are a missile's target) and/or by dispensing flares and chaffs. The Attacking Aircraft may also lose their apparent stealth factor and announce their presence in situations, for example, they use a Fox 1 and use their radar. You never know, when this info could become handy! 😉 Also, If there's a real pilot in the comments or some who knows better than me, do correct me. Cheers!
Happy to be a part of such a great community and the puns of Papa Shumi. 😂 I really think they should switch to adv or classic format which should give them enough room to make a good handling bike as per the format. And also if they want to keep this naked, just go down to 7 Kwh battery as the top variant and use the space to improve the chassis enough to keep up with their marketing goal for fighter jets.
I could be wrong, but the bike sounds like it was made by engineers rather than product managers. If they were product managers who were true bikers, I think a lot of the issues you mentioned could have been addressed. The bike’s nomenclature is Ridonkulous-it says a lot about the designers/company. I’m really curious to know what they learned from the Zero SR/F when Marc Travels visited their factory.
Helloz !! My two cents - I felt the restriction in the ride mode may work well if you are touring or on the highway, especially if the charging networks are distance apart. That way you could be sure to save the battery and reach the charging station without much hassle. Couple of questions for you: what is the weight of the bike? I watched your previous video as well but could not find that number - I am from Bengaluru and knowing the traffic scenes, how difficult is this bike to manoeuvre in traffic? If the bike is really heavy, does it also provide a ‘reverse’ / ‘park assist’ if I could that?
Hi team, A question regarding charging, can't they use CCS for charging which used by cars, a lot of European ev motorcycles use CCS charging for rapid charging
When motorinc team rode tork motorcycle did the battery heat or the motor. Please answer this as I need to know this for educational purposes as tork is only electric motorcycle with axial flux motor. Tork is the only indian electric motorcycle manufacturer to make a axial flux motor themselves and first in market as well.
There are so many aspects that didn't get covered in a 50min video which is quite crazy. As an owner for over a year, I think I should write this. I've covered 18,000km on the F77(now M2). I also know the team at Hangar in Bangalore because I fast charge there frequently. I still own my R15 but last year I gave up my rc390 after several long test rides of the F77 and there is no buyer's remorse. It is a great vehicle. I also own an ather but this one is my daily ride. Modes - you're right. They are cautious on new untested stuff.. but known to unlock capabilities after validation.. I'm waiting. Traction Control - T1 is the real deal.. t3 is simple and intrusive. Not sure why you even used it even in rains, it is made for noobs.. T1 allows for controlled slips and that is refined.. . Infact that's my default setting because you get a taste of that torque every time you get some smooth surface or gravel ..ans it's got you covered and you retain control .. IMU - the vehicle has an IMU I wouldn't be surprised if they unlocked cornering tc and abs Ergonomics - lower body wraps around the bike.. and it is built for that.. infact this ergo is way better than my older rc390.. and the handlebar is even higher than my r15. To each his own but it is aggressive and fun Committed riding position yes.. but most sports bike owners know that you hold your core and wrap your legs to the vehicle then the strain is on your palms is less.. this is very basic.. also helps with maneuvering and CG control Incognito Mode - it's a giant switch in the left menu of the App. Not sure how you missed that!! Been there for over a year. Battery charge limits - great feature. With charge limited 90.. regen is always there and I toggle to 100 only when I'm doing a long trip ACWS.. 😆 😆. They definitely went overboard with that name for sure. I've disabled the motor armed warning.. but the regen active warning is useful since I'm always at the highest level of regen I'll stop now since this is really a long comment. I think people don't fully appreciate what Ultraviolette has done here.. look at the BMW CE04. Similar features at 230kg and 14.9L and the recent CE02 at 4.5L...a joke... It is incredibly hard to get this right and i think UV has done a kickass job...
Bro BMW CE04 is expensive yes, but it's a CBU unit imported 15L. U can get it for 7L if it was manufactured here. UV is new Indian brand and it costs 4L(i believe it is expensive and they can reduce cost but UV want it to be like that). BMW is luxury global brand for a century, they can price however the hell they want and still rich guys will keep buying them😂
As a f77 rider what was mentioned about the bike are facts. 1. Power train/motor Performance is next to lag free unless you drive like a maniac. 2. The weight is an issue, atleast for a person who is more than 90kg, as the whole weight tends to fall on wrist & palms. Also because of the weight, the bike suddenly jerks forward even after hard braking, happened with me often. ( complained to UV waiting for reply since 6 months). And if there’s a pillion expect pain in wrists and palms for an hour once you get down the bike. 3. The parts which might give you trouble is chain & sprocket rattles a-lot once used for 10k kms and still left with some life, sometimes screen freezes, if its Mach 1 then tail fender which will loosen overtime, depending upon where you live switches/buttons on bike turns hard to press which will be irritating neither service centre guys will be able to do anything about this issue, the plastic flap is so flimsy that it will lift during pressure wash and then the water gets into charging socket and as the service team is relatively new so now and then they forget to tighten the bolts so please be aware. 4. The headlight feels inadequate and stressful on an highway, auxiliary lights from the company would be really helpful. 5. DC charging network and facility Good bits: Aesthetically good looking in few angles, performance, hydro phobic screen, less maintenance in long run, prompt response from team, works flawlessly even in knee deep water, provided with good charging network and less charging times this could be a great tourer too
Regarding conservative ride modes, I suspect that rapid discharges from battery in the lower 30% will degrade the LiPo battery a lot more than when above. I never ride Rizta in Zip mode below 30% for same reason, to extend battery life. Watching a few discharge curves of LiPo batteries gave me this impression.
Does the brake light turns on while regen kick in? The 10th level seems to be very strong. Im assuming that unlike the engine breaking, the bike wont be having the sound while regen kicks in, so will it cause problem to the traffic behind?
That’s Shumi for you, no nonsense, on your face 😀. Love this section. But just a suggestion, you can tweak an episode or two to make it kind of a podcast format with some automotive enthusiasts or auto industry veterans as your guest. You two would definitely be a wonderful host. Also any updates on Himalayan 650, any news as to when it can debut. Saw some spy pics recently.
Thank you for watching and for the suggestions @inRadhaKrishnaITrust! About the Himalayan 650, we don't speculate here at MotorInc and if it ever gets here, we'd be happy to share our thoughts after we've ridden it. So, guess we'll know when that happens... 😊
Shumi, Karthik Just one question, Can this be my first bike for city commute mainly and very occasional weekend rides; the base variant, not the recon one (as it's 10 kgs lighter). Also, I would have loved to see a comparison between the 2 models for instance how does the less weight affects the driving as compared to the recon model? And any other points - you get my point. Please assist.
Yes, definitely it can. Less weight means less range and slightly less performance but that trade-off might work for you. But will it mean a magical change in how the weight affects the feel? We would say no. And is this first bike of yours a good representation for a what 2024 sportsbike is like? Unfortuantely, no.
50:03 FOX1 is Radar guided Missile used for BVR (Beyond Visiual Range) need to maintain lock till it hits the target. 50:05 FOX 2 is Heat seeking Missiles. they say FOX1 or FOX2 not for which heard point the missile is released from but to denote what type of Missile is being fired.
A hypothetical situation, but would like @shumi to pitch in. If i were to take the F77 recon Mach II to MMRT, what will the laptime be close to? A duke 250? an RTR310? I am sure it is not coming close to the d390, let alone the rc390.
We'd be very surprised if the F77 had laptimes in the same zone as the 31-35bhp bikes. Even if it did manage these early in a session, heat management as the session progressed would come in the way. And finally, we did have one student who came to the school shumi teaches at on the F77. And he had to charge his bike everyday at lunch and if Shumi remembers right, missed one of the sessions to charge not being enough. At which point, the F77 as a useful track tool is still, to shumi, a bit of a hypothetical situation.
The law of unintended consequences at work here Shumi! It took me a second to realise what you were talking about, but now I can't disassociate "the word" from this bike - especially after the stickering and branding discussions. The branding is more lame Gen Xer who had a tough time with bullies in college/high-school more than anything else though. Really enjoyed it as ever :)
That was some fun conversation, loved every moment. One doubt if the vehicle is a blunt instrument isn't that kinda tangent to what Schumi said at the beginning about the going over the crest and feeling heavy. So my understanding is that you feel the weight moving accurately or you come to predict that over time but not precise enough in terms of other aspects as expected ?
I was wondering, considering the use case scenario of this bike which I assume would mostly be limited to commuting, in-city rides and maybe occasional highway runs. Which would be the better bike price to performance wise, the KTM 390s (Duke/RC) or the Ultraviolet? To keep it fair, let's not get into touring aspects or fuel economy aspects as each of these would tip the balance in favour of one of the two options. I mean to compare here in terms of rideability, agility, how fun it is to ride, etc.
30:50 I would slightly digress; energy dense batteries are coming and in near future, people are going to use modular batteries (like drone/action cams) to do multiple things like touring or track racing on the same bike. Also, Fox-1 and Fox-2 are nato designated names for air to air missiles fox1 (semi radar) and fox 2 (heat seeking). Other names are fox2 (radar guided), rifle (air to ground), etc.
Shumi as a person looking to purchase a EV to cut down on petrol costing covers 60-70kms commute to work daily and wanting to get a bike not a scooty. would you recommend me to buy the f77 mach 2 ?
I was waiting this guys........ Now to start , I'm travelling in New Zealand and i must say given the fact i just finished a ride on an electric motorcycle, from rather well known amercican motorcycle manufacturer. And well, i hope you cover it some day soon or not, lol . Now to start this watching this, i stopped to type this before i get into watching this episode.
@@motorinc it was my first time and it quite a different experience, a friend of mine was kind enough to rent the Harley electric from a local place. I don't know I mixed feelings, just eerie electric buzzzzzzz which was something to experience for the first time.
I used to travel daily arround 80 km in Hyderabad. Considering fuel expenses and power i am planning to buy mach 2 recon. Please advise can i go for it or not.
How is it while driving at night time And the tyre as well as suspension performance at wet surfaces or while mild off roading Because I heard its headlight's throw is not that good
5:20 You guys have said this a lot of times where you say you will know more about a vehicle when it comes for a detailed story, but i dont seem to know where these stories actually come. I have only seen motorinc firsts. Where can I see them? Do you guys have another channel or something? Basically, give me more content lol
We have reviewed motorcycles that have come for detailed testing @karan_deshmane... Check out the channel if you're interested on that. For this bike, we're still waiting for a test bike to come.
Hello Shumi, I was waiting for this video to drop because I saw you riding this. To the community I would say if shumi says it not fast it's fast and if he says it's fast then it is scary, because that man goes. Couldn't catch you on the road, hope to meet you when you are parked somewhere😅
Hello... Dear sir....if possible kindly make an episode on Tiago JTP. ...and also give info on how to source parts for it....because it is now discontinued.....
the way shumi puts it, it seems like an electric sports bike is like a diesel v12 sports car, is that the case ? or is it that in coming years electric sports bikes will make more sense ?
40:25 I like the way you put Shumi's head shake here 🤘 It feels like you're trying to add a bit more seriousness into that point. ❤ BTW, is there a weight difference between the 7kW & 10kW ? Does the 7kW feel the same with the chassis & the suspension bits ?
do you guys use a prompter or just prepare with a script? the lighting and color tone of the videos is also excellent and unique for a moto channel. Top notch and setting a standard. Keep improving, my two cents would be focussing in on your face as MKBHD uses most of time when making a pun or a joke, just would add more flavor.
They don't @yogeeswarpal, MotorInc First is meant to be a freewheeling conversation between Kartikeya and Shumi based on their driving/riding experience. They only refer to their devices when they want to share specific information that needs to be accurate. Everything else is impromptu.
We don't have the bandwidth to manage so many platforms. RSS feeds will probably not be updated either. We are working on an alternative solution though - please do stay tuned.
Please make a discussion on how to tour in the rain better including luggage, gear, and everything . I remember Shumi making one maybe in PD. Just returned from a tour , it rained in the last two days and I realised I was short on preparation for it. So please make a video on this issue
Hey guys love your videos as always. I was torn between ktm 390 2024 duke and F77. Since I couldn’t find any solid review about f77 back in the day I went with KTM and since then there’s no looking back. So I guess no Foxxx given as well. Shumi you killed me with that joke 😂😂😂
And with this podcast I am pretty sure that in the near future if I ever decide to buy an electric vehicle then it has to be a scooter or maybe a car, those make much more sense and even in present they are more than practical enough to be a daily driver of our lives
Wait, the safety indicator blinking gimmick is called the ANTI-collision warning system? It warns when collision is not happening? 😂 makes sense in the situation that schumi mentioned

Hello MotorInc!
Just wanted to give my 2 cents on the bike since I was one of the first few guinea pigs who bought the Mach 1. Will try and add points to what was already discussed in the EP.
Upgrades:
Usage:
The bike has two moods, one in the dry and the other in the wet.
I managed to do a 1000kms ride from Pune to Konkan and back for Rs.400
3. Maintenance is affordable as service cost are in between 2-2.5k per service.
4. Riding is effortless, love the whine from the engine. My friends complained it sounds like a really sophisticated food processor. But WTH!
Response to feedbacks:
Team UV has been very responsive to clarify concerns, however, the resolution time depends on the problem.
1. Software glitches: gets addressed immediately. They can monitor your riding and precisly pin-point what the issue is.
2. Software errors related to hardware components takes a bit more time due to part availability (usually shipped from Bangalore)
3. Other parts such as the rear mud guard design is flawed and the feedback given 1.5 years earlier is still not addressed.
I hope this helps someone wanting to own this bike. But as Shumi says, Test Ride and then evaluate.
If a tata Nexon ev costs 2500 per service, why does a ev bike service cost so much?
Hi @kp755! Thank you for taking the time to share. This is very helpful information. How has the service experience been for you though?

As a previous 2023 F77 Recon owner.. i received the M2 performance (10-level regen and TC) for free.. They also had color panel and tank hatch updates that were paid.
Thanks for sharing @tecnomaniac, just curious, which level of regen do you normally use?
@@motorinc after the Mach2 upgrade.. started out similar to what you said.. Lever6/7.. but as I got more comfortable with the regen.. set to the highest level 9.. now that is my default in the city all the time.. aggressive riding.. barely use brakes
On highways I use level 2/3
@@tecnomaniac bro what is this regen, tc, levels?🤔
@@HarishBabuM Kinda like engine braking but for EV's
@@HarishBabuM EVs don't have engine (ofc) and hence do not have engine braking like normal bikes do.
So without this regen if you close the throttle then the bike just continues going ahead and only natural physics (air drag / friction etc) would slow it down.
EV Companies now give a regen/regeneration option that basically intentionally slows your bike down when you close the throttle.
This helps in few things.
1. the feel of engine braking
2. Bike slows down without the need of using brakes
3. Bike intentionally slowing down actually regenrates some power (hence the name) which will actually increase your range
TC is traction control
Basically if you accelerate and due to whatever reason maybe you give a bit too much throttle / maybe there's gravel or its wet or due to any reason if while accelerating, the back tire spins more than the front, this means it is sliding and can be dangerous especially if the bike is at a lean.
Hence TC monitors the tire speeds of both the wheels and while throttling if the back tire has higher speed than the front one, it reduces the throttle input till the two tire speeds match.
Levels will just adjust the intensity
Higher Regen will give a higher braking once you close throttle
This would be good in city as you'll use brakes less
This would not be convenient in highways as you'll always have to keep throttle open else you'll slow down fast
Higher TC level basically means you're bike is extra sensitive to the back tire sliding
It will reduce the throttle input whenever it thinks that the back tire will spin
This is good for safety but this might intervene a lot and can annoy the rider.
Keeping it at a lower level means less intervention, rider feels like he/she has more control over the vehicle.
And you allow the back tire to slide a bit while accelerating, which can be fun as well.
IG burnouts can be possible only if TC is off (not sure)
So many things changing in life rn , only this series hasn't changed (except for the season ) it has surprisingly become a comfort corner for me .
Glad to keep you company @notad3tya129
Please release a longer version of the intro, it’s too good!
Request noted @shreeharimenon5275!😊
The reason for dropping the modes at significantly higher range could be voltage or current limitations . The battery at that charge state might not be able to support the power required by motor. Even though it has energy capacity.
Yes indeed it could be. But in everyday use the range restrictions on the upper modes arrive way too early to seen logical
Shumi's analogies and comparisons of vehicles to everyday things are so accurate that it's amazing.
Glad you think so!

TVS being their investor is rubbing off on them
This helps!
What TVS?
@@HarishBabuMTVS Motor Company is an investor in Ultraviolette Automotive.
@@TheTwinPost but what is rubbing them?
Yes, we do think an option to set range/SOC bottom limits is a good idea, Anand

Wanted to say thanks for a tip in one of the older podcasts.
It was in one of those where you discussed in off-road to not fight the bike too much and to sort of go with the flow.
Today our university parking lot was full of slush from the rain and it also had an uphill exit.
I managed to get the scooter out of it without falling by going slow, not braking and a lot steering left right and not panicking when it slipped left or right hit steering accordingly. I don't know if it was correct but at least I didn't fall into the mud.
Glad to hear that @vizdrom! Thanks for sharing.
Does choosing the lower variant with 7kW battery pack make the handling and weight distribution better? If I remember right, in the brochure it was mentioned this is 10kg lighter compared to the 10kW variant.
Yes, also consider the range
Perhaps slightly, Kabir. But you'd lose both performance and range in the process too
I've been using the Mach 2 Recon for the past 3 months, absolutely no regrets! And yes, the Violette AI does seem gimmicky, hence I did not buy the AI pack.
Thanks for sharing @shrey220! May we ask what made you decide to go with it?
@@motorinc I love the way it looks, not much maintenance is required, didn't want to burn fuel unnecessarily in the traffic of Pune City. My rides are well within the real world range of the Recon variant.
It costed me around 4.5L on road in Pune, whereas, I would have to spend a lot more on fuel and maintenance for an equally priced IC motorcycle.
Thank you! Please keep us posted of your experience as time passes...
@@motorinc definitely!
Thank you for sharing @shiihong007! How easy was it to sell it when you decided to?
Pramod bro, you sold it seriously ?

Why does Ultraviolette ask to charge till 80% as a safe thing?
Thank you for sharing @MrAshwijshenoy!
Hey @darshanmakwana4914! Its becoming quite common. Dis/charging batteries to the extremes, very low and very high both cause a rise in the long term decay the battery receives. So limited max charge can extend life by a small margin
@@motorinc yes I understand. I charge all my devices till 80% and dont let them go Below 15-20% .
A suggestion for future bike Firsts: when discussing riding position, showing the actual riding position with a person in the inset video would help to understand and compare between bikes.
Thank you for the feedback @marksanyal.
Thank you for sharing @ShyamSundar-ku9yy! Good to hear from an owner.
There are 3 Fox codes -
1) Fox 1: Semi-Active Radar Homing.
Also, If there's a real pilot in the comments or some who knows better than me, do correct me.
Cheers!
Yes indeed @vikramsinhdantkale8525! Thanks for sharing!

I really think they should switch to adv or classic format which should give them enough room to make a good handling bike as per the format. And also if they want to keep this naked, just go down to 7 Kwh battery as the top variant and use the space to improve the chassis enough to keep up with their marketing goal for fighter jets.
Good point! Thanks @maazmahi1935
Strong details about the bike you will know everything at the end whether to buy or not ... Always love the show.😊
Glad you enjoy it @Abhinashray!
Thanks for sharing your perspective OMT!
I travelled 170 km with a tail bag ( For Charger) and saddle bags and the battery weight actually kept the bike stable.

Hi team,
A question regarding charging, can't they use CCS for charging which used by cars, a lot of European ev motorcycles use CCS charging for rapid charging
Are we getting an updated RR 310 MotorInc first?

When motorinc team rode tork motorcycle did the battery heat or the motor. Please answer this as I need to know this for educational purposes as tork is only electric motorcycle with axial flux motor. Tork is the only indian electric motorcycle manufacturer to make a axial flux motor themselves and first in market as well.
What about BMW CE 02? Did you guys had a chance to ride it?
IMU - the vehicle has an IMU I wouldn't be surprised if they unlocked cornering tc and abs
Ergonomics - lower body wraps around the bike.. and it is built for that.. infact this ergo is way better than my older rc390.. and the handlebar is even higher than my r15. To each his own but it is aggressive and fun
Committed riding position yes.. but most sports bike owners know that you hold your core and wrap your legs to the vehicle then the strain is on your palms is less.. this is very basic.. also helps with maneuvering and CG control
Incognito Mode - it's a giant switch in the left menu of the App. Not sure how you missed that!! Been there for over a year.
Battery charge limits - great feature. With charge limited 90.. regen is always there and I toggle to 100 only when I'm doing a long trip
ACWS.. 😆 😆. They definitely went overboard with that name for sure. I've disabled the motor armed warning.. but the regen active warning is useful since I'm always at the highest level of regen
I'll stop now since this is really a long comment. I think people don't fully appreciate what Ultraviolette has done here.. look at the BMW CE04. Similar features at 230kg and 14.9L and the recent CE02 at 4.5L...a joke...
It is incredibly hard to get this right and i think UV has done a kickass job...
Thanks for sharing @tecnomaniac!
5. DC charging network and facility
Good bits: Aesthetically good looking in few angles, performance, hydro phobic screen, less maintenance in long run, prompt response from team, works flawlessly even in knee deep water, provided with good charging network and less charging times this could be a great tourer too
Following your channel reminded me of a quote my team used , "The brutal truth, artfully told"
😊
Would be great if the editor expressed the exact numbers of the increase in power and torque .
Thanks for the feedback @burnttoast9890
it looks like they promised a Concorde and delivered a ATR72. Well both fly, but its not the same! 22:48 did the bike go sideways a bit?
Regarding conservative ride modes, I suspect that rapid discharges from battery in the lower 30% will degrade the LiPo battery a lot more than when above.
I never ride Rizta in Zip mode below 30% for same reason, to extend battery life. Watching a few discharge curves of LiPo batteries gave me this impression.

50:05 FOX 2 is Heat seeking Missiles.
they say FOX1 or FOX2 not for which heard point the missile is released from but to denote what type of Missile is being fired.
Thanks Wilson!
@motorinc please make one on new RR310. And if possible compare it with RTR310. Or else just on RR310. Thank you! Also, big fan of your content. 😁🙌
A hypothetical situation, but would like @shumi to pitch in. If i were to take the F77 recon Mach II to MMRT, what will the laptime be close to? A duke 250? an RTR310? I am sure it is not coming close to the d390, let alone the rc390.
I'd like to see this too
We'd be very surprised if the F77 had laptimes in the same zone as the 31-35bhp bikes.
@@motorinc gotcha! Thanks @shumi and @motorinc
I agree on the point that company tends to prefer existing customer's feedback over journalist or potential buyer.
Thanks for joining us @MuditBadlani
I might be dumb, but what's "the word" we're talking about?
That was some fun conversation, loved every moment. One doubt if the vehicle is a blunt instrument isn't that kinda tangent to what Schumi said at the beginning about the going over the crest and feeling heavy. So my understanding is that you feel the weight moving accurately or you come to predict that over time but not precise enough in terms of other aspects as expected ?
Blunt means stuff happens predictably perhaps but without precision and control. And those two aspects define what sportsbikes today offer above all
20:46 "but your customers are watching motorinc"
Shumi's apple watch face having MotorInc shows how much he loves this channel 😅
♥️
I was wondering, considering the use case scenario of this bike which I assume would mostly be limited to commuting, in-city rides and maybe occasional highway runs. Which would be the better bike price to performance wise, the KTM 390s (Duke/RC) or the Ultraviolet?
To keep it fair, let's not get into touring aspects or fuel economy aspects as each of these would tip the balance in favour of one of the two options.
I mean to compare here in terms of rideability, agility, how fun it is to ride, etc.
KTM today. The UV if it keeps with the battery tech evolution about 7-8 years from now, Bhargav
Can the handlebars be raised to get a less committed riding position?
yep but 1 inch
It doesnt help though after a point
@@MrKaush123 why?
@@Yavvee no matter what you do, the riding position still is committed. Painful during long runs but really fun to ride
@@MrKaush123 ah ok
30:50 I would slightly digress; energy dense batteries are coming and in near future, people are going to use modular batteries (like drone/action cams) to do multiple things like touring or track racing on the same bike. Also, Fox-1 and Fox-2 are nato designated names for air to air missiles fox1 (semi radar) and fox 2 (heat seeking). Other names are fox2 (radar guided), rifle (air to ground), etc.
Yes and yes! Thanks Sumit!
Thanks for sharing Jeru! Hope you had a lot of fun on the ride.
@@motorinc it was my first time and it quite a different experience, a friend of mine was kind enough to rent the Harley electric from a local place.
I don't know I mixed feelings, just eerie electric buzzzzzzz which was something to experience for the first time.
I always groove to the intro music. Do you have a longer version? @motorinc
Hey Sagar! Glad you enjoy the music - what you're listening to is the whole of it 😊
I used to travel daily arround 80 km in Hyderabad. Considering fuel expenses and power i am planning to buy mach 2 recon. Please advise can i go for it or not.
32:58 Shumi giving the bombastic "How can I say this without making them feel bad" aah eye contacts. 😂
We can guarantee that's not what he's thinking @Adithyan7274! 😆
How is it while driving at night time
And the tyre as well as suspension performance at wet surfaces or while mild off roading
Because I heard its headlight's throw is not that good
Headlight is average and the tyres are okay in the wet and not meant for off-roading - so whatever they're able to do is welcome, Hitesh
Hello Shumi,
I was waiting for this video to drop because I saw you riding this.
To the community I would say if shumi says it not fast it's fast and if he says it's fast then it is scary, because that man goes.
Couldn't catch you on the road, hope to meet you when you are parked somewhere😅
Thank you for joining us @AkshaySingh-oi8hk
the way you guys did a review on Nissan X-Trail, will you do it for Honda NX500 ?
Been waiting for a test bike from Honda @aryanmohan6201
35:35 Ather has Incognito mode
50:30 gotta say man that was a good one😂😂
😆 Thanks
Another nice review! Really waiting for the new rr310 review since I'm planning to buy one❤
Soon!
7:51 i do not understand why we can't have a clutch lever ? more you press the clutch lower is the regen no clutch engaged = highest regen !
Will be a big learning curve don't you think @swagatamukherjee6155?
Controller circuitry will need a change for what you want. Ultraviolette will have to invest a bunch of money for this.
Hello...
Dear sir....if possible kindly make an episode on Tiago JTP. ...and also give info on how to source parts for it....because it is now discontinued.....
im sorry this might sound irrelevant but did the motorinc logo get changed?
Yes @sraycxviii, thank you for noticing.
the way shumi puts it, it seems like an electric sports bike is like a diesel v12 sports car, is that the case ? or is it that in coming years electric sports bikes will make more sense ?
Doesnt Ather have an incognito mode ?
40:25 I like the way you put Shumi's head shake here 🤘
It feels like you're trying to add a bit more seriousness into that point. ❤
BTW, is there a weight difference between the 7kW & 10kW ?
Does the 7kW feel the same with the chassis & the suspension bits ?
It's about 10kg, that's not insignificant, but you'd be trading in performance and range in the process too
Someone rightly said - “There is nothing ultra about the sales of Ultraviolette” 😅
😬
37:17 to protect the battery life?
There are other protective measures @Nayan-ic3ig but this doesn't have anything to do with that.
When are you going to make a video featuring impressions of the Jawa 42FJ?
Anything about @matter motor?
do you guys use a prompter or just prepare with a script? the lighting and color tone of the videos is also excellent and unique for a moto channel.
26:00 which company is this? Orxa?
Have motor inc.’s uploads in spotify stopped?
We don't have the bandwidth to manage so many platforms. RSS feeds will probably not be updated either. We are working on an alternative solution though - please do stay tuned.
Please make a discussion on how to tour in the rain better including luggage, gear, and everything . I remember Shumi making one maybe in PD. Just returned from a tour , it rained in the last two days and I realised I was short on preparation for it. So please make a video on this issue
th-cam.com/video/ftMdpjosoMM/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared
it actually makes sence , they needed the weight so they can counter the antigravity effect in their space stations.
😆
Hey guys love your videos as always. I was torn between ktm 390 2024 duke and F77. Since I couldn’t find any solid review about f77 back in the day I went with KTM and since then there’s no looking back. So I guess no Foxxx given as well. Shumi you killed me with that joke 😂😂😂
Glad to hear that you're enjoying the 390 Duke @benthousand1000! Thank you for sharing.
And with this podcast I am pretty sure that in the near future if I ever decide to buy an electric vehicle then it has to be a scooter or maybe a car, those make much more sense and even in present they are more than practical enough to be a daily driver of our lives
Indeed @Abhisek_03
@@motorinc there's no H in my name, but yeah let's ignore that 😉
Apologies! Corrected!
So waiting for naked or ADV style touring version is good choice
Wait, the safety indicator blinking gimmick is called the ANTI-collision warning system? It warns when collision is not happening? 😂 makes sense in the situation that schumi mentioned
🤣
This looks like a very complex bike. Is there any eligibility criteria to buy one? Like do i need to be an Astronaut or a fighter pilot to buy thiat?
None that we can find @swapnilbarhate6229! Although being a fighter jet nerd might help you in negotiation 😆
