I triggered a ham on a local repeater with this on my mobile XTL5000!!! He jumped down my throat immediately and blew his mind over this MDC id!!!😂😂🤣🤣🤣👍👍
@@CentralVirginiaEAS what he probably means is , yes , you don’t “need” any kind of license to press the ptt. Like, the radio doesn’t know if you have a license or not , it won’t magically stop working , however , it’s always a good thing to have , so you know you can talk on a particular frequency and not have any issues
I have 4 XPR7550e radios I use for my business. I also have all my local ham repeaters programmed in. All key up the MDC tone and it’s hilarious when the sad hams lose their shit over it. 😂 One who I hear from time to time threatens to report me to the FCC almost every time I jump in on the net. And yes I am a licensed ham operator. Crusty old ham geezers… 😂
In the CPS, there are parameters for MDC signalling , you set a radio Id in the MCD calling and then set the personality associated with the channel to use MCD signalling
@@CentralVirginiaEAS I have two systems , A Motorola DR3000 running the dmr side , and all handsets in use have AES256 encryption enabled :) there’s also a kenwood TKR-850 for a separate conventional analogue system , both are UHF
I have a question if you can help me. I watch a series called Happy Valley ( UK ) and on two episodes there is what I call a distress signal ( something like pam pam prrrrrrrrttt on repeat ) . They used in the episodes when a police officer was in big trouble ( for example season 1 episode 4 near the end is the other ) . Do you know the brand or signal or whatever info as to start searching in google? Because , I haven't got any results so far...
@@user-sq8xt9gk7u I don't know I am still searching. But I saw on an episode, on a close up, that it may be a Motorola radio ( video resolution was mediocre). Police officer pushes a button on/near the top and the radio started automatically transmitting the signal to the rest of the police department. In the last episode also had a location establishment ( although that might be an addition from the movie and cannot be done in reality) and a voice said "Code 0" blah blah blah...and the distress signal transmission.

I did this and causes most hams to throw a hissy fit. It's a lot of fun.
Yeah I can imagine , even though there’s no “rules” against it 😂😂 I just use it for my commercial systems
@@rarity5865 it's a little data burst at the end. But hams act like you personally insulted their mother by using it.
Sad hams just like notarubicon says

You can enable MDC on that DP4800 too and have it show the ID on screen
Yeah have all that set up through my repeater for all the analogue handsets that support it
@@rarity5865 nice
How can I enable this alert tone on the XTS-5000 when ending transmission?
That sounds curiously like a modem digital signal.... is there actually any data on that R. Beep?
yeah its sending out the radios ID
I usually don't ask but where you actually transmitting on the simplex dispatch channel
That channel is my technically assigned business repeater licensed to me
@@rarity5865 oh ok i was just curious
I would need a license to do this of course. I am not really a pro at radio stuff
yeah a license does help XD i have an amateur radio license and many commercial radio licenses :)

Nah , we don’t have that allocation in the uk , I have various business licenses as well as my own repeater that I operate on
