    A multi tool with a chain breaker can come in handy. I did have my chain snap once and with the multi tool i removed the broken link and reconnected the chain. It wasn't perfect but enough to get me home 20km away

      Yes James. The Lezyne tool has a chain breaker. Fortunately in almost 3 decades of riding I am yet to break a chain. I think that sticking with the major chain manufacturers like Campanolo and Shimano has made the difference, but it is a good idea to have a chain breaker. Also I replace my chain timely using a chain tool to check wear which has increased the life of my drive train components over the years. I don't use chains with removable links so I install them and forget about them until replacement time.

      Veloharmony I also have that tool never used yet but I read about that feature and just caught my attention.

      The back of my legs keeps rubbing on it and it started wearing my shorts. I like it too but I have to find something smaller, maybe the one tube Arundel

    Clever idea on carrying an expired license. Where do you keep the larger bag you currently favor?

      All the bags I carry go in my Jersey pocket.

    Great idea using an expired ID I also use the Road ID as a back up

    I love the Arundel bag but use their smaller bag which holds the essentials with ease and doesn't contact my shorts. Wore holes in my shorts with other bags. Got the larger Arundel bag you show and there was some contact with my shorts. I might think twice about an ID packed with a house key if I lost the bag?! The Park Tool emergency tire boot has allowed several riders in my group to get home after a blown tire. You share a bounty of useful info and enthusiasm, keep it up!

      I started thinking about trying the single tube Arundel when one of our legends Psychonaut said it was his favorite bag.

      Veloharmony I'm not a big guy but have the rubbing issue you have, not sure why. Got rid of my bags altogether until I found the single tube Arundel. Looks clean and holds a surprising amount of essentials. Plus, it is a Texas home grown company👍. Important is where the velcro srap is placed as that is what cuts into the shorts. Several in my group use them now and like em. One or two put them on incorrectly so had to straighten that out. Attaches differently then the med bag. Cheers

    Thanks for the mini pump recommendation. My Lezyne pressure drive needs 80+ pumps. Time to replace it.

      You're welcome. I also have a lezyne HP drive pump, but prefer the simplicity of the Topeak.

    Speaking of saddle bags that sit far back... I just got one of the Topeak bags with their plastic quick clip (I got the Pro Pack bag specifically), and it seems to sit far back. you can even adjust the base of the clip system to sit farther back on the rails (and the SMP saddles have long rails). Plus, how it quickly clips on and off is neat.

    Here's an unusual but I think handy thing to have either in your saddle bag or in your jersey: a few paper towels and/or Kleenex. I recently came across a guy on the side of the road who had a nose bleed that was taking a really long time to stop. I stopped to see if he was OK and he asked if I had any Kleenex. I had to reply "no". Two other cyclists came by and also stopped and none of them had any either. I felt bad for the guy that none of us could help, but the guy with the nosebleed was only worried about getting blood on his jersey lol.

      Agree good point. I carry wipes because of the moisture in them but I can see where a paper towel or Kleenex can come in handy. I think paper towels would hold up better, since those Kleenex are soooo fragile.

    • @VegasCyclingFreak
      @VegasCyclingFreak 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      You could but them in a zip lock baggie but I think paper towels would be best as well.

    Which one of the two Topeak mini pumps do you like better? I kinda want the carbon one but the reviews say that it feels kinda cheap and others say that you would be able to use it only a couple of times...

    • @Veloharmony
      @Veloharmony  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have both and if the carbon wasn't on Sale I would not have bought it. It works just like the Aluminum one and is just as durable. It is not true that is flimsy, someone's not being honest. I like both equally well. I don't notice the 10grams difference. Buy either one and you will enjoy them. I have had both for about 1year with no issues.
