muskeg is just another word for a bog,it's all rotten wood and plants.very wet and easy to get stuck.

I like your red paint mark on top of bucket and thumb. I do same stuff some times to have a ditch depth mark

Sometimes you have to take partial buckets. Depends on situation. He is also separating permafrost from good reusable backfill.
