I think the women here seem confused and unprepared. One says don't spill the puppies to the other one... uh really? Is that not a really basic thing when you have a bag full of puppies? Pretty much just hold and carry bag and try not to bang or spill them out.
Today I was out for a walk alone (I'm 14) and a woman driving by asked if I was looking for my dog. I I told her no, but asked if she had seen one without an owner nearby. She told me there was a dog alone a few blocks away, and after watching Hope for Paws videos all week, my rescue instincts kicked in. I ran up the hill, until I found Willie, the biggest dog I have ever seen, all alone. He immediately ran over to me and kissed my face. I saw he had a collar on, but I couldn't call the number as I didn't have my phone on me. I walked him back to my house holding onto his collar, and I called his owners. Nobody answered, but a woman called me back about 20 minutes later. The woman came to pick up Willie, and thanked me over and over again. She said he gets out often, and one time he was lost for weeks. She said that if I hadn't found him he could have died. It is a Thanksgiving miracle! I am so thankful for what everyone at Hope for Paws does, and you guys give the dogs you save something to be thankful about. :)

She must have been so scared when she came back and her puppies were nowhere to be found. Clearly she's a fantastic mom and very protective so I can only imagine her panic, she probably was searching everywhere. So glad they were reunited and saved, thank you all

I think she wanted to run but her will to protect her babies was greater. 🤔
Yeah, she wanted to run. But parenthood instills courage. Not lack of fear but fear more for the kids than for self. This dog was an excellent mother who would protect her puppies regardless of the cost to herself.
Once you brought one of her babies in her space , she looked up and finally understood what you were doing , and relaxed .😖😘💖💖

Lots of people get puppies because they think they're cute, but then abandon them thinking they know how to survive on their own. However they were not bred with this instinct, they were bred to be companions, living under the care of humans. Most animals know how, I agree, but dogs have been bred for generations to live with humans.

Update they are now almost a year old. I dunno where they are now except for once since I adopted him.

You do know if you want to be an animal rescuer, you have to be prepared to be able to see any kind of crap. There are a lot of abusive owners out there that would gladly let their dogs/cats/horses/etc. starve alone in a cage for all they care. It takes a lot of guts to be an "animal rescuer".

I cried, the mother looked just like our rescue fromSPCA. She passed away after 16 yrs. She was so tiny when we bought her we named her Zero. Although she never had puppies she would of been a fierce, protective mother. We loved her so. I hope they all find loving homes with kind understanding people, like your fabulous group of people.

That mother dog had every right to be protective of her pups, but seeing you girls come in and help her give food to her babies and herself pulls tunes on the heartstrings... I hope the dogs have a good home to go to and are well looked after. :( Poor pupper, she doesn't look in that bad of condition all things considered. Must of been dumped fairly recently...-_-;; Sadly I'll bet the reason why she was dumped was because she was pregnant.
Yes and the reason she was pregnant was because her owners didn't care enough to spay her or at least protect her when she was in heat.
Heh... My cat, back in the day was """neutered""". Then, one day, she ran away. We looked everywhere until finally we gave up. Months later, she turned up at home and we brought her to the vet. It appeared she somehow got pregnant, ran away (cats are really private with their pregnancies). Seem like the "neutering" hadn't been done right, only managed to cause her complications when she did give birth. We never found the kittens, but the vet said it was likely they didn't survive birth. Anyway, long story short, things are not always as they appear.

One day I'm going to try and donate about 100 or 200 to Hope for Paws
Trinity D I did this with a different animal organization and what I did was save 1 dollar each day and by new year I made a donation for the 365 dollars I saved I know it wasn’t much but it was an easy way to do a little each day without emptying my account.
Trinity D. Having worked for a charity, in my opinion, it is better to send an organization like 5-10 a month than to donate 100 as a one-time thing. It's easier for you and it gives the organization some stability. However, I cannot speak for these guys obviously
Start with $5 or $10 now and challenge your social circles to do the same. Don't wait. Maybe girl scouts would do cookies for paws instead if raising $ for themselves

I remember trying to save a stray kitten. It’s a long story. My friends and I were walking on the streets, but saw a white little kitten struggling to crawl. It was bleeding. One of its legs were missing. We got sad and tried to help. There I was, crying. I just couldn’t help it because it was a poor kitten. It’s mother never came to it. So we called shelters to help it but wouldn’t answer. My parents were at work at that time so we had no clue what to do. After we couldn’t do anything after a day, it died during the afternoon. I feel ashamed. I feel sorry I couldn’t help it.. and here I am, crying while typing this.

Awesome kids!! Too many kids hurt animals so it's great to hear about these kids. They also learned a valuable lesson, to leave pups there cuz mama may return. The pups look like they're half of mama's size already! I'd love to know if any of the kids adopted a puppy. I'm sure they're nagging their parents, "Can we keep 'em." LOL
Exactly, the kids had truly good intentions and feared the worst when they couldn't find the mother. All in all it's nice to see some young children try to do the right thing with animals.
