To this very day the best oscillator I've ever bought. Crazy internal routing capabilities paired with a flawless design & sound. Multiple outputs on both oscillators that you can sum together (and not to speak about the fm stuff you can do). A purchasing choice I will never regret
Don't you think this is THE best complex osc on the market :)

@@LittleAmbientMachine 100%! Although, I am waiting patiently for the Hexinverter Mindphaser, but that seems like it would be comparing Apples and Oranges.
Between this video and the absolutely brilliant manual, it looks like an enormous amount of work went into teaching users how to approach the module and get the best of it. Well, as a user, after a few months, a few reads of the manual and a few viewings of this video, I can wholeheartedly say a big THANK YOU to the Instruo team ! Discovering my C-sL has been a fantastic journey, and it still promises years of sonic exploration
Yes this is an astonishing module but with a somewhat slow learning curve, not because the design is complicated, but because possibilities are difficult to manage all at the same time to really master the module. It needs a few months, reading the manual a few times, looking at some videos (too few) and experimenting a lot to finally be able to product "predictable" sounds (if something can be predictable with crossmod !). But I will never regret this purchase, because this dual VCO is sounding really great, the design is perfect, and Jason is a cool and clever guy.
I can’t recommend this highly enough! It’s my first complex oscillator and I’ve got it running through Make Noise Qpas and/or Joranalogue Filter 8 and it’s giving me the sounds of my dreams. Love it. Amazing piece of work.
I just got the Csl a couple of days ago and getting Qpas this week, can’t wait to hear it through it, I put it into Mimeophon and the Xpan tonight modulated by the OCHD getting cv triggered from Pams, what a sound and groove!
Holy crap. And you've been designing these amazing modules one after the other. If anything deserves to have the word "complex" in its name, it's this: but it's laid out and expressed in a very clear way. Merging complexity and clarity is no small feat in any field. Most impressive and very lovely.
After roughly one hour of use, I'm hooked on the CSL. Wow! The sound is mind blowing and I've had a lot of modules over the last 6 years. I watched this video but will definitely need to review a couple of times. Thanks for posting this detailed overview.
i sold my e352 for this and it was the best thing ever. now i have dual complex osc with the furtherrrr, love the tonal possilities and it sounds so edgy, it makes my filter just growl and squelch and it pairs well with the squshyness of furtherrr generator, I love passing this osc through my stereo dipole and then through my mimeophone, its so well design and I LOVE IT!!! p.s it can get musical as well, just touching the zone beofore the fm gets out of tune creates so much magic, makes great classic bass lines too.
Just received my Cs-L a few hours ago. Instantly sounded amazing, and fun to play with. Fantastic work. I will be buying more of your modules if I can find them.
Jason - just got the CS-L (already own a Harmonaig). What an amazing module, endless possibilities. The in-depth videos of your products are very much appreciated as well!
Love the amazing analog tones and steampunk art designs. This is on my wishlist! Your modules remind me of the ancient pyramids of Egypt with the iconic glyph rune labels.
@Dan Homer - Ditto here. Mine should arrive tomorrow and I can hardly wait. Love INSTRUO, already have Harmonaig and Ts-l and they're fantastic. I've never heard such a wide range of timbres sculpted so easily and quickly on a single module - not even the legendary Make Noise DPO, and thats a high bar (might have to sell mine now). The immediacy and flexibility of the routings, dynamic wave folding on both sides, cross FM, both flavors of sync, convenient v/oct link, flexible ring mod/AM circuit, and 11, yes I had to count twice, 11 audio outputs, and somehow its not bigger than other designs. It politely tips its hat at previous complex oscillators, and then leaves them in the dust without looking back. Bravo, Jason. You've made us hungry; please keep feeding us! EDIT: Just put it in and played with it for awhile. I could make whole tracks with this module alone just patching audio out of it and layering sounds. It truly is a playable musical instrument in and of itself. Build quality is superb; all the jacks, knobs, and switches are tight and reliable. And one thing I'm really digging is that the coarse tune knobs will go below 20Hz allowing for some interesting artifacts and rhythmic settings. Bye bye, DPO! Thanks for paving the way...
How is the Harmonaig? Just got my hands on the CsL today. The Harmonaig looks super intuitive and musical...I can see one in my rack i think- All the best.
A really awesome oscillator!! I'll have to try a Wangulator in some of the CV control inputs to get some interesting simultaneous control possibilities... Love it!
Oh man! What an amazing design. I don’t have an analog complex oscillator, but this VCO as well as your really well made explanatory video makes me interested to get one Cs-L asap. Great job!
All internal modulation modes/routing are curated between jacks that would otherwise be patched. Patching to them overrides the internal routings. What you describe can all be achieved through patching :) VCA's/analogue switches would allow for precision control over all interconnections.
I've had this VCO for a couple of months. It's so insanely good that I've yet to use a filter on it, or make any actual music. I just keep tweaking it and plugging things into things. Absolutely brilliant design. I've not even memorized internal routings (it's not hard) cause I just keep trying different wave combos.... Is there such a thing as "too much FM?" if you want to find out, get the Cs-L.
Ok, I guess I should have watched this video first before playing with this module, then my first attempts with it would have sounded a bit more interesting^^. Thanks for the examples, that helps a lot.
Thanks! :D Please do check out the written manual as well. Some really excellent work went into them by some very talented patchers. There are some very cool patch examples at the end as well.
I've had mine for 24 hours now, UNF*CKING BELIEVABLE! The sounds I'm getting a amazing! I'm gonna start recording a new album based around this thing! #SeanHølt
Can we all agree that this is the motherlode of all complex oscillators. JFC he barley even self-patched this thing. And all of the normalled routings have cv inputs if you want to break them and send in other stuffs. “Hey let’s add some sawtooth am to osc 1 while it’s modulating the PWM of the stepped pwm output and THEN fm modulate it all with exponential fm from osc 2.” The Demon forces from the sonic regions of Hell are being summoned by the Cs-l
I was initially saving up for a DPO, but this sounds amazing as well. And at least on the surface seems more flexible in it's routing/sound palette. Would you agree?
Have both of them. DPO might not have such wide palette of timbre but it's waveshaper sounds double times fatter and much more aggressive overall. Both are cool in their own way.

the range is this is unreal. Absolutely stellar work!

@@KNHSynths my most expensive module and now that I’ve had it for a few years I would’ve paid double
i have the cs-l for almost 2 years as my go to osc. this is the 3rd time i rewatched this video so far and i still learned something new! amazing.
This module was my gateway drug to eurorack, it's range of tones is massive and the ability to get into glitchy crazyness is never far away.
I've had this module for like 3 months and I still watch this overview. That's how good it is.
The density of information ensures I will watch this over and over over and over... Brilliant oscillator.

BRILLIANT design! The modulation routings are incredibly flexible and so elegantly implemented. I absolutely love this module. At the top of my list.

Most impressive design. Clear and educational demo, too!
Found the desert island oscillator. Absolutely mad!
Such a lovely Module in every way. Looks and sounds Amazing!
This run-through was fantastic. You're probably busy building modules but if you have plans for more of these, I fully support this.

it would have been awesome to have a trigger input for the sub button
Will the push button(s) like sub octave remember the state between power cycles?
They do indeed :)
