As a professional land developer here in the US and looking at your area from drone footage. I hope you understand that your area is actually a giant sand bar, dirt/sand deposited by the river and shaped by the ocean waves. It is constantly changing and evolving through time. It will either get bigger in the future or get wiped out by mother nature. These type of peninsula is common here in the US throughout all the coastline. Without manmade protection, you are very venerable to losing your land/house. The government needs to implement a seawall and or a wave breaker to reduce the erosion. This is why professional land developers and soil engineers exist, to prevent these types of disasters from happening and destroying million dollar houses here in the US. Sand bags are a short term solution. You need to bring in 5-10 ton boulders arrange in an interlocking formation (this is probably the cheapest option, but will still cost a lot of money) if you want to protect your house and property in the future. In retrospect, after 30+ years in business, there is no such thing as 100% nature proof that will last forever. Mother nature always wins in the end. We just hope it last long enough for us to enjoy and get our moneys worth before she claims it all back. Good luck and stay safe.

Yes i agree, this idea is the best build a seawall would be the best so far. IT cost a fortune but 100% guaranteed and Safe.

You need a long seawall as the water will go around it

Your looking at homes along the shoreline. I live inland. I spent a few months with the American Red Cross helping those victims of Hurricane Sandy when it engulfed NYC as well as those homes within reach of the shore. The state did a beach replenishment program by the Corp of Engineers for the benefit of those who had homes by the water. As stated previously I choose not to live so close to the water for obvious reasons.. Even the seawall did not hold back the hurricane when it breached the seawall from Monmouth Beach to Seabright. The state made homeowners who built within a specific mile radius of the ocean to elevate their homes in order to qualify for flood insurance. The eastern USA is pleagued with hurricanes which forms off the coast of Africa and makes its way to eastward, Its like a crapshoot never knowing when one might make its way up the coast. Many hit Florida and others usually clip the Carolinas and others veer right back out into the Atlantic.. My point is that building on the ocean can have devastating consequences which could be avoided by restrictions on building so close to the ocean.

This is why I live in Barangay Lumbia uphill in Cagayan De Oro. Being Aussie, of course I love the beach, but I know anywhere on the east coast of Mindanao or any of the other islands in the Mindanao group, and in the eastern part of the Visayas, are always in danger of erosion in times of heavy rain and strong tides. Of course typhoons are even more of a threat in those locations. It just so happens that a low pressure system is heading your way at the moment. I hope your temporary measure is successful Kulas!

Once again I commend your positive attitude against adversity. I hope and pray the rip tide will subside before any serious permanent damage is incurred. If a positive attitude is what wins the day, you will definitely survive. God bless and protect you during this time of great need.

The best solution is not concrete seawall because it will be very expensive. Please research about GABIONS, thats what we were using in Saudi Arabia for slope protection and lined canals. It’s less expensive if you have good source of medium size rocks to fill the gabion wire cages.

Nahhh.... That just means well gonna die soon.... That's the only explanation for that... Don't waste your time building breakwaters... Just enjoy the ocean while you can..
Or just go and migrate to China...it's good here and the lands are cheap... Philippines lands are fake...they disappear like yours ..and earth quakes and typhoons are always happening there...also many rebels and dirty people...it's a third world country what else do you expect...
Please make a video that the Philippines Islands are sinking now ... That will caught everyone's attention....😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁

There is one method of protecting your land: it is by using gabion. These are wire mesh that is formed into box shape and filled up with boulders. These are lined up along the edge of the shoreline. Although these are not permanent solution, it will help protect the shoreline until a sea wall is constructed in your area.

I hope you can slow the process for long enough for the currents to change and the beach to accumulate again. Coastlines are dynamic especially sand beach coasts. They're made up of sources and sinks, unfortunately your beach is currently a source. Have you checked the sandbank at the river mouth? If its growing, that's the sink where your beach sand is being deposited. Incidentally, digging the sand for your bags in front of where your bags are speeds up the erosion sa it allows deeper water and therefore more wave action to access the base of your bags. If using sand bags is your only option, take the sand from down flow of the current so you you'll actually bringing your sand back. The most effective way though to slow this down is a bank of rocks that is high enough to be above the waves and extending far enough out to dissipate the wave energy. Its called a revetment. Good luck!

It's not only in your place. We have the same problems here in Masbate. The sea is taking back the land and if you don't protect it by a wall it will continue because the sea level will increase and you can't stop it. It was before only every 10 years but due to global warming it will be much more frequent.

Amihan waves are hitting the shores in Cateel at an angle carrying sand in the backwash and resulting in erosion. More sandbags then leave them there and in the future when the beach is back, just cover the sacks with soil and sand. Concreting a beachfront makes it unsightly. Gusto nako makita ang concrete house sa imong next video. Salamat!

The sea has given you much joy over the years. Swimming, surfing, transportation, providing you with fish to eat, beautiful sunrises 🌅. But sometimes it will also take. It's like Yin and Yang ☯️. The bad times are what make the good times good. Enjoy every day, because nothing is forever. This is what I learned from Filipino mindset and from your vlogs too Kulas. Mama Rose knows it. 🍀🌅👍

Yes please stop and eat at the Carinderias They are the best. When I'm in the Philippines it is a must. The food is so good and the price is cheap. So support them please and help them keep going for everyone. It is something that I can't imagine not having for the people there. My father In-laws friend made the best duck dinuguan and I keep thinking of it and can't wait to have it again. Also miss sitting with family and friends drinking and eating Kinilaw. Hoping to move there maybe in the next 10 years but prey something happens to allow us to make it sooner. Take care and hope that things will be good for all. May the currents change and leave all the good people safe and secure back home.

Kulas you cannot do it alone. You need to raise this issue immediately and ask the help from the local government. The Duterte administration is looking for local government projects to finance. A seawall needs to be constructed along the shore line. The local government will be willing to sponsor this project. There are so many seawall construction projects ongoing throughout the Philippines.

Hello Kulas heres Julieta from Digos City What you are going to do is to build a sea wall cemented with steel bars of course it will not work with the sack of sand coz the current bring the sand away cause of strong waves and current

Start planting mangrooves kulas, start now and see the difference rather than placing sacks of sand or stone, even building concrete wall will not help much, soil eroded but mangrooves multiply. It really helps.
