    Love the creative math sticking it back to Josh lol. The build is looking great. I'm always performance first and scale second. I like to see other people's scale rigs but for my builds performance comes 1st.

    They have a emax servo mount on thingiverse so it can be a (freebie) if u go by your competitors logic 😉

    It would be cool if u made a spot for a magnet in the new bumper. Then glue a flat peace of metal on the front edge of the body to lock it into place. Just a suggestion. But no matter what or how it turns out. I know it's going to be badass! 👍

    Good stuff! I would like to add to the conversation. The Mil Stone wideners are made by Kinetic. Mil Stone is just the name of the product. Kinetic makes a bunch of other stuff for the SCX24, too. Other companies like to copy their products, including the Mil Stone's and "double barrel" shocks. For anyone reading this, please support Kinetic. They are a small operation, but a good company and they are innovators. The Mil Stone's are attached with barrel nuts (not hex pins) and they can come off pretty easily while driving, so be careful! I recommend some blue Loctite. The added track width (per the ebay listing) is 3mm per side (not 12mm). It is minor, but noticeable. I have a set of the Mil Stone's, but prefer the Hot Racing +4mm axle shafts and 5g weights. The weights just sit on the axle shafts, so they aren't rotational mass like the Mil Stone's. Also, you can add/remove them to tune weight bias. It's a little less weight than the Mil Stone's, but added in a better way (IMO).
    I'm not sure which Emax mount you're looking at, but most of them really don't do anything. With the stock mount, all you need are some spacers and longer screws. Most every aftermarket mount I've seen just incorporates the spacers into the mount. They don't do anything else. If you want to push the servo back, I know of two options. MOFO RC makes an aluminum mount with repositionable posts, so you can move the servo where it needs to be for your build. It works with Y-link or 4-link. Unfortunately, it is expensive (for a tiny servo mount). The second option is to make your own and that's what I did. The STL is free on my MyMiniFactory page, as well as STL's for custom links.
    I'm happy to see you're using the stock wheels! They are super light and the price is right. Unfortunately, they are also very narrow (12.4mm) for the LGRP Trail King M/T's (24mm). By comparison, the RC4WD Steelies are 14.9mm. If you want to stick with something lightweight, Prefontaine Designs (Canadian!) makes some fantastic ABS wheels. They're all glue-on's and you do have to be careful with the offset as they're all a little different, but the quality is ridiculous and the price is reasonable. So far, I like his "Chrome C10" wheels because of the wide offset and 15.5mm width.

    Another great video! Awesome build! Thank you and Josh for doing these Budget Build, Challenge videos!
    As for "scale accuracy" it can be subjective...my 1:1 1997 Jeep Wrangler TJ has 9" of lift and 39.5" Super Swamper TSL's. So when people say my Axial SCX10 2012 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited on 2.2 MudSlinger XL tires doesn't look scale it is a close representation of my 1:1 Jeep. Yes I know I'm comparing a TJ to a JK, lol.

    Man, that's a toughie. Scale over performance or performance over scale? I think it's a special blend of each in every build. Unless you set out specifically to accomplish one or the other. Sometimes the RC tells you exactly what it needs, too. Regardless of YOUR intent. The vehicle tells you what it wants as you go.

    For the servo just cut the mount so it has no side and superglue the servo on, it’s not like you can replace the gears on them and you can still unbolt the tray if you need or just cut the servo off when it needs replacing

    I tend to start with performance, simply because I have a certain level of performance I want in every build, that stuff takes up valuable real estate generally reserved for the scale aspect. once I get the performance to the level I want, then I decide how (or if) I am going to scale out a rig.... the only exception to this rule of mine is my 1/10 leaf sprung class 1 SORCCA rig

    Not performance at ALL cost...scale is also important. You have to be able to "relate" to the rig you're building and driving.
    I try to do 100% of both. It doesn't have to be 50/50.
    I drop everything as low in the chassis as possible for LCG. Add the typical preferred steel(not brass if I don't have to)and start adding scale detail. If I have to , I'll hollow-out the scale figure and replace medal hardware with aluminum where strength isn't needed.
    Things like that.

  • @darkhorsegarage9623
    @darkhorsegarage9623 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I would say I got for total performance. Then add some scale aspects to make it look cool. I definitely don’t like total comp rigs looks. The total performance comp crawlers just don’t do it for me. And I would hate to roll a total scale rig down a rock cliff face. So it’s a balance.
