@@StevenYDG69 Thank for sharing that. To better articulate my main point was that a lot of reviewers are getting to the point where they’re not recommending a car based on either a comparison with another or a minor weakness or trait. I love my Maxx Slash. It's leaps and bounds better than the Mojave. I'm not a traxxas fan boy. But I own the Mojave and I couldn't tell you how many diffs i have put in the Mojave and how many axles I've replaced. the Maxx slash has taken everything I've thrown at it and just keeps going.
It's because the TH-cam algorithm has content creators producing videos for audiences of monkeys who have ADHD. That's more concerned with view counts and ad revenue than producing informative content or product reviews. Its a good platform, and like most Traxxas cars, can be made to handle better for the cost of a large paper bucket of hot chips.
I have the Maxx Slash and its a real beast, not sure why Traxxas gets a bad rap, yeah their kits are a little expensive but they must be doing something right!! The market will dictate what is and isnt too "expensive". I did have to put some money into my Rustler VXL to beef it up, but overall Traxxas is doing good things and I own many of their models. There is also a TH-cam rumor that Traxxas does not care about their customers, this is FALSE, they have helped me out a couple of times and were good to deal with.
I’m sure you already know this Marc, but some viewers may not. Traxxas has extended the sale for their large trucks until the end of December. Also, my Maxx slash came in I’ll be sending it to you after the holidays.👍🏽👍🏽
Anyone that says don’t buy a maxx slash is so wrong. I absolutely love mine and yes there is some improvement to be made like the motor. It gets quite warm even just running 4s so I’d suggest cooling fans and also the steering servo seems to make it understeer a little on some surfaces. Other than that the esc and motor go really well and it’s an excellent super tough truck overall. At the end of the day you can’t please everyone and they will have their opinions
I own two Mojave 6s rigs-an EXB and a BLX. The EXB is bone stock (other than the electronics, since it came as a roller). I run my EXB on 6-8s with paddle tires in the snow, at the beach, in loamy dirt. I've owned it for 2 years now. I've beat the crap out of it and the only thing that's happened is a pivot ball popping off. No maintenance, either (I know, that's not smart). I built my BLX from the ground up as a "superlite" version-cut the weight down by 20% using carbon fiber everywhere (including the chassis), 7075 aluminum screws and titanium screws, titanium driveshafts/ cvds, hinge pin holders from the Typhon TLR, pulling the roll cage out, Tekno ET48 shocks, etc. I even made my own carbon fiber upper hinge pins that surprisingly, have not broken. It handles like a Porsche. Both trucks are absolute tanks. I own a ton of Traxxas rigs, too, but I'm just not totally convinced about the Maxx Slash, even though I'm used to doing custom builds. My "superlite" Mojave 6s took me 80 hours to plan and build. I'll have to find a friend that has one and see if they'd let me test drive it.
The company is a down to earth company not snooty folks team associated has never supported the weekend basher or racer. Traxxas always great customer service
Traxxas gets a lot of hate because they tried to sue a lot of other companys for patents that looked like theirs. The Max Slash is way ovepriced and parachutes off of mid height jumps. I personal love Traxxas, amazing plastics and durability.
Traxxas gets hate because it spends r&d money engineering ways to not be able to use universal electronics in their products, then proceeds to have those components fail faster than other options. There’s more, but this is at least the most obvious technical reason for some hate from hobbyists.
Honestly the retail price killed it off. Plastic axles on a 6s truck doesn't suit everyone well especially when the metal upgrade existed already. Plastic servo gears with slow transit speed. VXL ESC is lackluster compared to its competitors. This should have been released as a 4s in my opinion with a price around the Maxx MT.
The "other YTers" didn't kill this car! I got one at release, and it was a total potato. Super cool concept, who doesn't want a 1/7 slash or a SC MAXX, we all did. And then Traxxas did Traxxas, relying on their name rather than actual good product delivery. The tires suck, the servo sucks, the bellcrank sucks, no motor heatsink and fan, no sway bar, standard Traxxas ESC issues, 93-year-old transmitter with a nice fat Traxxas price. It is now okay after I spent close to another $500 in upgrades. I appreciate your videos and content, but you sell these products, bro, and like any salesman, I have to take anything you say with a grain of salt. You said it yourself: "It is going to appeal to a LOT more people because it will be easier to drive." So, who killed this car, the YTers or Traxxas? I don't make YT content, and I have told at least 19 people in my RC club to NOT buy this. And yes, we know how to drive SC trucks and have from most brands. So, out of the box, this is not better than an MAXX at bashing, nor as good as a Slash 4x4 VXL at SC racing. Both the MAXX and Slash have issues out of the box. Odd how those issues are pretty much the same as the MAXX Slash. Traxxas gets hate because we all know they could and should do better. They clearly design their models to be just good enough to roll, not with adequate parts compared to the competition. So, now, if I buy a Traxxas model, I upgrade it with non-Traxxas parts so they don't get any more of my money.
@@Turtlefry Ty for the post. I will listen to everything that you say because you are the customer and in the end what you says matters most. However, I’d like to make a counterpoint. When it comes down to it, there are definitely people that have different opinions than you on this specific car. Keep in mind the Traxxas Max was a very big success for them. For that reason alone, it made sense to keep the same components that were on that car. What I’m finding with most Traxxas releases is that the cars are not set up for drivers. Whether it’s the differential weight oils or shock oils or springs. I think they set these cars up for the novice drivers. Also, everybody has their own driving style and taste. People are comparing these products to other brands. Other brands have other philosophies on how to make their cars drive out of the box. This car was designed to be in my opinion of fun machine. A short horse truck that did 70 miles an hour with extreme durability and above average ground clearance to handle the rough stuff a little bit better than other cars from other brands. With all the TH-cam killing there are dozens and dozens of my customers that have this car and are happy. I feel that a lot of people missed out on it because of the negative reviews. Keep in mind you and the other experience drivers are not the only people that live in the world. There are other people that are not as demanding for precision or set up as you are. I know it’s hard to look outside yourself but try. My reply was not meant to offend you in anyway, so don’t take it the wrong way. Just like I took yours nicely and accepted. I’d like you to just listen to me and try to understand my point of view. By calling me a salesman, it makes me feel kind of cheap and almost like a bullshit artist. I don’t think I’m any of those, but I do have motivation to keep Traxxas products moving because that’s what I do for a living. I support my family and myself for many years on this. Traxxas has heard everybody loud and clear and I’m sure they have something in the works. That is going to replace this sooner rather than later. If I was to get a position within the Traxxas company, I would make sure that all Track’s cars are properly set up to run as good as they could out of the box. I would also start from this day forward including sway bars on all kits since leaving it out is a major issue. Every other RC car manufacturer is including these and it does make a difference on how a car handles. Despite the fact that most of us didn’t like how they said this particular car out of the box I would still consider it a fun machine that drives like a short course truck. I always felt that the Traxxas ultimate 4x4 was not a true scale drive. In fact, it shares the same chassis as the rally car. And a kind of drives like one. However, I would never compare how that drives to a regular slash 4 x 4 that they make because the comparison really wouldn’t make sense as they have two different objectives. I felt like people compared this car with other cars that had different type of chassis set ups, more like rally cars. I could understand the confusion and the anger. I know that you understand the dynamics of RC. I’m not trying to give you a lecture. I’m just saying that I truly enjoy driving this car. I truly have enjoyed upgrading it. I get a kick out of the reliability and the fact that it’s overbuilt. We all know that it’s overpriced, which is why in all my videos I was trying to get people to vote on if they would have bought this with the same motor and speed control that was in the MAXX at 569.99. Some people said they would’ve preferred that but the response was not overwhelming. My final opinion on this is that Traxxas should release a platinum version of this car that includes several upgrades and put the price around $600. They did this with the Revo 3.3 sales had stalled. I own to platinum inversions of the 3.3. There is no question that I brought new customers to the table when they released it and it also breathe new life into an old product. I don’t think Traxxas will give up on this platform. I think they definitely heard everybody complaining on the Internet and I think it would only make sense that an upgraded release is imminent. I just hope they don’t release it at the current price point of $700. Thank you so much for your input. I appreciate it. We all need to stick together in this hobby and get along. There’s been a lot of hate over the past few months over this car. I’m just voicing my opinion and it’s all I’m doing. I don’t mean any hurt to anyone and do not wanna alienate any of my customers. If I didn’t like this car and I was just trying to be a salesman I would’ve already moved on and sold mine yet I kept it and upgraded the crap out of it. I truly enjoy driving it and I would hope that other people will give it a chance with the upgrades, especially at the reduced price of 550 until December 31.
@@ParkflyersRC Thanks for replying so quickly. It must have been morning coffee time!! I’m having mine now. I agree. Everything from companies to consumers will be based on personal opinions formed through life or business experiences. I also agree with the vast majority of your responses. Thank you for taking the time to provide an in-depth and thoughtful response. However, even though I am a Traxxas fanboy to a fairly large degree, it still saddens me that we pay such a premium for clear points of weakness that we are ‘forced’ to pay more later to ‘fix’ or at the least improve the overall performance of most of their models. If these are for the novice, they should also be priced for them. Let us hobbyists then choose to spend the extra money to make our models shine, as we already do. As for hate, there shouldn’t be any. I do see so many just hating and not really willing to put the effort into having a debate, discussion, or loving banter. Thanks for being professional, as I would expect from a business owner. Thanks for sharing your opinion as a fellow hobbyist.
F the reviewers. If you like a car go buy it and have fun. Everyone does different things to their own car so I never depend on anyone's review to purchase what I like.
I think the design of the maxx slash is official. I just think traxxas needs to price their cars better and update the trash electronics , gearing , and get rid of the plastic drive shafts.
TH-cam didn’t “ruined” the release of this car, Traxxas did. By selling this for that crazy price and with missing “upgrade parts” that makes the price even crazier. Those sway bars for example should have been included in the price.
And also, Mojave 4s gets too much praise. It handles great and is fun, but the center drive shaft flops around like a wet noodle and that power module gets loaded up with dirt every few runs and destroys bearings/over heats the motor haha
You’re 100% correct. It may happen. It would be a logical move. I’m hearing things something very big is coming btw. Remember you heard it from me. A very big release is coming in the very near future. Should blow a hole in the RC market. Wait-and-see.
@ParkflyersRC I'm from Barbados so watching videos on newly released cars determines if I'm going to buy it or not I do like the maxx slash but like you said content creators put it in the bad books early on And I think I get why they say so Traxxas is suppose to be a premium product but leaving out things like sway bars and crappy servos for the price your paying is quite frustrating
Most RCs are over priced ….manufactures make bank when a new model gets released….then as time goes on most everyone that wants one has one….the hype fades and sales drop…especially if the RC is over rated and needs a ton of upgrades to be reliable … Eventually they all go on sale which should be the normal price to begin with.
The Redcat Valkyrie at $400 less, is both faster and just as tough as this. Not to mention packs a significantly better esc, handles much better and offers much better throttle control. I know they are different classes of vehicles, but both are plastic for what it is woth. The price is so out of control it is not funny.
if you have any influence with Traxxas, encourage them to lower the price a tad on their performance land bashers, then maybe they wouldn't have to put this stuff on sale which is highly unlike Traxxas to do. 600.00 regardless of what you can do with this out of the box this IN MY OPINION is too high in comparison to what else is on the market.
@spenn2007 we have no say on pricing. Keep in mind they manufacture in Taiwan. Labor is much higher than china. They also give seven days a week Support. They have a full staff running the hotlines. This cost money and definitely is part of the extra cost for Traxxas products.
Traxxas is just always trying to undersell us at a high price. You can just feel their greed. Not saying they make bad stuff (mostly). I just hate giving them my money
The market will dictate that, if something is priced too high for what it is it simply wont sell, people can easily stack it against a brand like Arrma and make a choice.
Compared to both the Mojave 6s, there is no comparison. I owned both and this vehicle was terrible. Terrible. The esc blew two weeks into ownership. Traxxas made me send the whole truck back to them at my expense. Something like $70. No throttle control at all and that is one of things that annoyed me the most. Debris gets in there like there is no tomorrow. I did put my Maxx system in it and it did drive better, in terms of throttle control but speeds even with the 46 tooth pinion is much, much slower. It is fast, I'll give it that, in the 6s form but the rest of the car was just not good, at least not for my type of driving. I think it needs some inner fenders though. I traded it for an Scx6 as a matter of fact, I just found it to lack the sophistication that the Mojave 6s has.
Because Traxxas is greedy the vehicles are overpriced like they're at the top of the food chain. Arma redcat and team Corelli all have reasonable prices.
Arrma and redcat may have reasonable prices but they also offer reasonable performance and durability. Do not compare Traxxas durability with Arrma durability. Traxxas makes really good drivetrain components. You will destroy 5 differentials before you destroy 1 Traxxas differential. If you want something cheap that will end up costing more money on the long run then you're welcome to buy cheap brands upfront. It's a choice you have to make. It's like comparing a high end BMW with a low end Chevrolet. They both have 4 wheels and a motor yet the two cars offer different performances. Same thing.
This car is a great RC and Traxxas is a great company! Those that bashed this product should be boycotted due to their poor quality content and product bias and lack of integrity!! I own this car and the biggest factor in keeping it on it's wheels is SKILL DEVELOPMENT, not crying about not having those skills...
@@icebrew: You allege "predatory practices" as though no other retailer in the free world does EXACTLY the same thing... Oh, & their paint is complete trash as well, NO THANKS...💩
I hear you and respect your opinion. The point of this video was to make the car closer to what some people want. For most people they don’t need to upgrade this car at all. Keep in mind any car on the market will benefit from some tuning or tweaking. As far as price points I get it. I totally understand. However, some people like the durability of the traxxas brand they definitely last longer than Arrma and that’s something that I know fact as I work on these cars in my shop I see dozens of cars in service every month.
Traxxas costs to much......period. think about it....everything is on sale but the xo1.....which can't mess with anything arrma has 7th scale .....I did buy the maxx slash but the mojave is bigger n better
Not 1 traxxas rc is ready out the box.......I can honestly say that arrma it built better an stronger for less money.........this vehicle should have never been more than the 6s mojave
Mojave 6s is awesome car however the stock springs & Shocks are wrong for the car. Not as good as the 4s version in my opinion. Needs an update. Sales have fizzled on it. Most of my customers will agree.

All true. I work on all cars in my shop and see all the issues.
I bought 1 in july and got the battery/charger deal. I just bought my younger son an xrt
@@TastierBackInThe80s Ty for that.
@@IMGONEIN60 yes !! Ty for posting that here !!
@@gregganderson5479 send me this super lite Mojave ! I’d like to make a video on it. Sounds incredible !!
The company is a down to earth company not snooty folks team associated has never supported the weekend basher or racer. Traxxas always great customer service
Wow mark great job on the Max slash 8 couldn't agree more. it drives great fron seet I see. awesome tune job. I like it
Glad you like it
We love ours I've put a trans and diff but still love it
Traxxas gets a lot of hate because they tried to sue a lot of other companys for patents that looked like theirs. The Max Slash is way ovepriced and parachutes off of mid height jumps. I personal love Traxxas, amazing plastics and durability.
I hear ya. Ty for input.
I got one I love it .
@@terrypepper7913 that’s great !! Thank you for letting me and everyone else know that.
I love mine. It's awesome.
Ty for your input.
Agree with price ! @ $569.99 4s power it would have been more widely accepted....

Thanks for replying so quickly.
Thanks again for the feedback !!
What colored sway bar did you use for front and rear thanks those would be the Traxxas sway bars.
F the reviewers. If you like a car go buy it and have fun. Everyone does different things to their own car so I never depend on anyone's review to purchase what I like.
Awesome Marc, I might be sending you mine for the upgrades 👍🏽👍🏽
Please do!
GOOD.. NOW ITS AT A MORE REASONABLE- AFFORDABLE PRICE 😆🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I think the Maxx Slash is a lot better than the Mojave 4s, but it's a truck that nobody asked, that's why it gets a lot of criticism.
I agree that they should include sway bars on all cars. Well said.

And also, Mojave 4s gets too much praise. It handles great and is fun, but the center drive shaft flops around like a wet noodle and that power module gets loaded up with dirt every few runs and destroys bearings/over heats the motor haha
I think traxxas should of built this on the sledge platform
You’re 100% correct. It may happen. It would be a logical move. I’m hearing things something very big is coming btw. Remember you heard it from me. A very big release is coming in the very near future. Should blow a hole in the RC market. Wait-and-see.
@ParkflyersRC ill take your word for it
@ParkflyersRC I'm from Barbados so watching videos on newly released cars determines if I'm going to buy it or not
I do like the maxx slash but like you said content creators put it in the bad books early on
And I think I get why they say so
Traxxas is suppose to be a premium product but leaving out things like sway bars and crappy servos for the price your paying is quite frustrating
Most RCs are over priced ….manufactures make bank when a new model gets released….then as time goes on most everyone that wants one has one….the hype fades and sales drop…especially if the RC is over rated and needs a ton of upgrades to be reliable …
Eventually they all go on sale which should be the normal price to begin with.
@@markcole6475 Ty for input
Did you install the 1.725 springs front and rear? Which sway bars stiffnesses were installed? Appreciate your efforts here.
Ty for your input. We welcome all opinions
Same thing.
@ Bery well said. I totally agree. I repair over 1000 cars a year. I see it all. You are spot on.

I see that HPI is alive and doing quite well "dude"! The small businesses you mention being taken down by Traxxas, you fail to mention were infringing on their patents or other-wise using shady business practices to begin with and they got caught and called out for it. In the adult world, there are actual rules and laws and legal reasons why things are done the way they are, and when adult aged children come along and think they can make up their own rules about how business is conducted and they learn that merely being "self-entitled" isn't a license to rule over the status quo, running around the internet bad-mouthing a particular company because they got corrected in the real world are the actions of spoiled children and that is what SUCKS!
I wonder if the max slash sway bars will fit the regular max. I know most people don't use them on bashers but i do it it helps a lot.
Arms are different. It will not. Sorry.
This is my point! It's too expensive to begin with & you have to do all these "upgrades" after initial cost! I used to really like Traxxas but lately they're just too big for their britches! Finally release a 1/8 buggy & it does 19mph??? Why don't I just buy the Typhon which will LITERALLY run circles around that crap Jato. For LESS!!! Wait for the 4s? Again, sorry buy at that price point there are way more options. Traxxas has just taken all the incentive away from why I would want their products over others. Bout done.
Traxxas cost to much then you have to spend about 200 bucks to make it drive better
Did you do anything to the center diff? Way too loose for me. The front tires would unload way too quick. Added one silicone ear plug. Drives way better now, I think.
Yes. I will be posting my fluids in an upcoming video. Stock will not be good for Precision driving.
