Cortina crashes out! Our race car crashes at Oulton Park!

- A day in the life vlog of one of our race days in the Modified Ford Series. This time we're off to Oulton Park. The day was very Topsy-Turvy! From almost not making it out on to track, to sticking it into 3rd on the grid, then ultimately crashing out right at the beginning of race 2. Great work as always from the Team, ‘Rubbing is Racing’ nice Chicken Stir Fry to boot 💪🏻
Yeah bit too much paint transfer on that occasion though! There was definitely a gap there to go for though just didn’t work out this time. Stir fry was perfect 🤙🏼
100% agree there was a gap there. The only problem your car was 3ft too the right of it 🫣

Nobody puts the time and effort into motorsport and settle for second you always got to put your nose in a gap sometimes pays off others end like this

We were P12 for the majority of qualifying then when it finally dried out a bit right at the end we got straight up to P3 I think that lap time was on the last lap of the session or the one before. So we got to see how well it could go in the dry which made it even more gutting going out so early in race 2. Good to hear that the videos are getting better 🤙🏼🤙🏼

In the high speed corners it’s a lot more stable and feels more planted which is good. 7 stitches and the hand was as good as new 😁

Not sure what the regulations allow and I don't know the car's corner weights, but I guess it's quite front heavy.
Are you allowed to modify the engine firewalls and engine mounts and run it front mid or rear mid configuration?
I seen a car in Germany once years ago, think it was a MK3 Escort, radical build possibly for Group 5 (Zakspeed).
The Lancia Beta was a cheap production car front transverse front drive (2000 Coupe), was also transverse rear drive (Montecarlo), was also a (not so cheap) mid longitudinal rear drive race/rally car (037).
No not allowed to modify the firewall. We’ve never had it corner weighted, but we’re looking into the suspension set up next so I think we’ll get it done then 👍🏻

Good luck getting the back end to behave, I'm sure you know what you're doing but is it the diff or is it something else fundamental like axle location?
I only heard about air suspension through a friend recently talking about active self levelling as a function of active ride height, both of which might be worth looking into.

Very rarely because to be honest we’ve hardly got the time to dedicate to it. All the stuff we do is an evening/weekend hobby. During the week we all work full time. Maybe one day if the channel takes off we can do some things for others!
I've just bought the same shape transit I am looking for a company to lower it and possibly put a bigger diesel engine in for more power .
