I just got my micro safari in the mail and since it is very cold outside 35 degrees F i was wondering does the cold actually damage the living organisms during shipping? if not how long should I wait?
Hello, that level of cold typically does not bother the organisms. I don't fully understand the second part to your question. How long should you wait to open the box after it's been in the cold? I would let it warm up to room temperature for 30 minutes before opening the box so the critters can slowly warm up since they are still in the insulation. Hope that answers your question.
Hiya! As long as your microscope has a reflected light illumination source (the sample is being lit from above, not below), and you have an objective that is less than 400x, it should work just fine. You'll need to remove the microscope slide holder so that you have just the flat surface under the objective. They are usually held on with a couple of flathead screws.
Hiya! We have stopped selling the Micro Safari 1.0 and are working on the Micro Safari 2.0. Subscribe to the channel or email list on the website to be notified when the next version of Micro Safari is available for sale! Thank you!
@@micro_safari Hi!! I know this is incredibly late 😭 my parents and I were wondering to buy one! About the food , what if it runs out? Where can you get more?
This is so cool and almost exact;y what I’m looking for. Do you sell kits with different micro organism populations by chance? I was wanting to surprise my husband with one of these for his birthday. He is a macro particle physicist and has access to some of the highest powered microscopes in the world. And in his office at home he has a nearly 1500 x optical stereo microscope custom made in Switzerland by Leica. In fact it was a present that I gave him last year for his birthday. It took Leica 2 years to deliver it. He loved it. I want to surprise him with something with more symbolic significance this year. I want to order a MicroSafari with two immature micro organism cluster populations inserted at either end of the slide right before you ship to me. Specifically I’d like for you to harvest an immature colony of Neisseria gonorrhoeae and a separate immature colony of Pediculus pubis. It will be funny to watch his face as he tries to identify the two micro organisms. But it will be even funnier when he actually does identify them. Anyway, i owe a debt to my wonderful husband as I haven’t found a way to repay him for a surprise he gave me a few months ago. Albeit it took my gynecologist a little bit longer than it will take my husband, a Stanford Nobel laureate, to identify these same colonies he gave me. Yes, he acquired these gifts for me while attending a macro pixel symposium in Bangkok. A young Thai PHD was assigned to by her university to show my husband around. Unfortunately the young Thai girl works a night job to make ends meet. The investigator that I hired to follow my husband discovered that the student is in fact a Kathoey, also known in the west as a Ladyboy. And she accepts “clients” in the evening to make ends meet. My husband became one of her clients and gave her that which was later regifted to me. Oh, and the reason I want immature colonies placed on both ends of the slide is because I’m a huge fan of Game of Thrones and am curious which of the colonies will destroy the other to dominate the roost. Ty
We unfortunately do not have a source for the cultures that you described, however we are happy to provide you with a blank slide and you can provide those cultures yourself! :)
Unfortunately not yet :( because our kits contain live soil organisms, I cannot legally ship outside of the continental USA. I am working on this issue and hope to release a version that can ship worldwide. Subscribe to our email list on the website if you'd like to be notified when we release it!
@@emilebombardier4444 no :( can't ship there because of Canada's soil import restrictions. There are certain permits that we can get which will allow us to ship the Micro Safaris to Canada, but they will not clear before the end of this holiday season. Our Micro Safari 2.0 development is going smoothly though! Micro Safari 2.0 will be able to ship worldwide.
Looks really cool. I've been trying to find a new hobby. 90 bucks is a bit steep tho

can you use this on a traditional microscope

If you pause the vid at 1:29 you'll find the ingredients.
It's all stuff one can easily find on the shelf and/or make yourself ;-)
