Hadra with Qasidat al-Burda

The Hadra took place in Zawiya Sharifa, presumably in Syria. Details of this Hadra are rather obscure, but it is by the Murids of the great Shaykh and Knower, Shaykh Ahmad Jami, successor of Shaykh Abd al-Qadir Isa, successor of Shaykh Muhammad al-Hashemi, successor of Shaykh Ahmad ibn Mustafa al-Alawi, may Allah’s Mercy and Pleasure upon them all, and may His Closeness be granted to them. This Hadra contains a few Qasidas, some of which I am not familiar with. If anybody knows please comment. The Qasidat al-Burda is very well known, and I daresay people who are listening to Hadras probably is familiar with it, but I will mention a few stories nonetheless. The scholars have mentioned that if one recites the eighth line of Qasidat al-Burda until falling asleep one, with the Grace of Allah, see the Beloved. Furthermore, it said that to place it upon one’s eyes heals the ailments of the eyes. But more than things and benefits like this, it is a statement of Love of the Beloved, and every Lover keeps it close to their hearts, as the worth one attaches to the remembrance of someone, is an indicator of the worth of that someone. Such Love is rare, we prefer to keep footballers and celebrities in our hearts, but the Burda sings of a Love that still shines in the hearts of some today. Therefore dear readers, keep the Love alight.
