How did you travel so far in total silence?! No radio, cd, phone, coughing, sneezing; no talking to yourself, not a single exclamation! One three word response at a checkpoint entering California.
Thank you so much. Most will find this boring, so what! I find these types of videos amazing. I’d love to visit all these places and drive these routes all over the world, but I’m pragmatic and grounded in the realisation that will probably never happen. However with these movies I can sit at night in the dark and download the experience into my mind to keep as a memory. After all the real roads and places I’ve been are just that now, memories. So in essence they become one in the same. Also a wee side note. So I’ve amped the speed up to X2, and it’s funny because most videos when sped up can clearly looked liked it’s getting “Fast Forwarded” but this it just looks like everyone is just going fast as balls and everyone has the most amazing reflex’s, reactions and most of all brakes. 🤣🤣 Thanks again dude!
LOVE this! For people in those states that the I-5 runs through who can't actually get out and take the entire trip like myself (Los Angeles native), this is the next best thing. As bad as YT has gotten since the folks that own Google took it over, nice to see uploads like these that remind me why I was largely drawn to it in the first place... 😊👍
Just watched your trip from BC to Seattle. Very nice. Interesting to see the Everett to Seattle buildup. Seattle looks huge in this video. But I guess it is because it is! Nice work!
In some places night driving works, sometimes that the best time to see night life! However driving on a interstate at night that is mostly dark with some city lights in bigger towns seems like a waste. Doing I-5 is a great idea but at night it really dont work.
Hello! Thank you so much, this is just what I needed to calm my feelings of being shut in during the pandemic. Hope to get south eventually. All the best, from Vancouver Island. 😊
Thanks for posting this. I’ve made the I-5 drive countless times and it was fun being your virtual passenger. Do you ever stop in Yreka or Redding? I’m shocked at the number of homeless people in those places.
Hey bro I just did the drive from LA to Seattle and I swear I saw a man with a white shirt on one of those mountains but can’t remember which one it was but it was on this 5 freeway but there was nothing going both ways and pitch black so I was confused or thought I was seeing things do you think maybe I saw a homeless person?
Seems to be a fairly recent trip. They finished the construction from 127-125 a few months ago. I'm honestly surprised I didn't see myself in that clip coming onto the 124SB wide open throttle running through the gears given it was dark lol
These are all great videos. Do you have any plans to do any of these in the Eastern US? Or maybe an East-West cross country route like 1-10, I-40, or I-80?
I am about two hours and 58 secs into video. I was initially disappointed that I could not read the road signs. My question is this: is there an upgrade you used? Or is it just my computer I wonder? No matters. Loving a road trip. Can't do so this year. This is a treat.
hello its too bad the video is mostly in darkness but some day times too. maybe u can do some in the day time only so we can see where u going. just a suggestion. hard to see what cities r which
You drive from Canada to Mexico border California , I wonder how many times you stopped by the gas station to refuel and go to the bathroom ? I used to drive deliveries and parcels from Nye, los matinez Dr, to Austin Texas , 3 hours 43 minutes, 232 miles. Mike can't even drive . Must stop and stop for coffee at the convenience store along the way 😁😁😁
One thing I've noticed about freeways in Oregon. They don't have very many truck lanes on upjill grades that you see on freeways in Washington. I noticed that on I-84 this past summer.
That's the only sad thing about this set of two videos that captured the entire trip. Frankly, I'm surprised nobody else has tried something like that before in real time. And not just for I-5, which I remember from my days in San Diego, but also other long-distance freeways like I-8, I-15, and I-95, among others. (I-10 would be harder to do because of the gap in downtown Los Angeles, though it can be done going EB, but not WB.)
@@BritishMetric144 Because there's no way to use the one mile spur between I-5 and US-101 westbound, since there's no connection from the spur to US-101 south or US-101 south to I-10 west, but there is a way to do that going in the eastbound direction via Boyle Avenue and First Street to get on NB US-101, from where you can access the I-10 spur.
@Donald Oglesbee Actually, it is officially posted as Whilamut. I used to drive that path every week. But the name of the Valley in that region is Willamette. Nobody seems to know how to pronounce Umpqua Valley, either.
May I ask when this was taken? I am planning a similar trip at the end of December for Christmas and wondered about the road condition during that time of year.
Sometimes, I've seen snow pile up at the top of the Siskiyou Summit and Mount Shasta, as well as the Grapevine. In those cases, you'll either need to wait for the road to re-open, which usually happens within a few days, or detour to the coast (101) and use that. If Siskiyou Summit and Mount Shasta are closed, at Grants Pass, take Route 199 to Route 101; when you get to Ukiah, use Route 20 to get back into the Central Valley. Then you can merge back onto I-5. If the Grapevine is closed, at Buttonwillow, take Route 58 to Paso Robles, take Route 101 to Los Angeles, and then you can merge back onto I-5.
I’m seriously thinking about it. I mean there are a lot of cool roads and scenery to show the world here in Scotland, and Wales too. These videos hit high numbers, they might even pay for themselves.
@@janetdungan2878 It's very difficult to do. The only way I could see it happening is with three drivers (A, B, and C). A starts driving, taking the entrance from Route 548 in Blaine. When you're in the zone driving, you need no radio. Helps to be belting along, though 😃

Yeah 14 hours to go from Washington to Nevada no stoping going about 70 mph so about 112 kilometers per hour

Thanks for sharing this journey. As someone who lives in the Vancouver area, this brings back a lot of memories of drives down to Washington/Oregon.
Vancouver.... Canada? Or Washington?
i like the night drive portions and watching the sun come up. great video thank you
I love going for long drives, where you can just sit back and relax, and observe the scenery, it’s wonderful.😊

You made it across Seattle Metro without having to stop north of downtown and the Tacoma curve was like nothing. That's amazing.
