I used to ride the ‘red rattler’ train between Lindfield and Wynyard station back in the latter part of the 1980’s. I am living in Vancouver, Canada today. I miss the city though. Extremely beautiful city.
@Units Received .......Don’t forget to mention the ‘bunks for drunks’. Those green sideway benches where you could stretch out on. Then I was robbed on the train one late evening to Redfern. I left because I didn’t feel safe there 35 years ago. I will never forget the Anita Coby murder. It all contributed to me settling elsewhere. Sydney seems a much better place today. I have strange memories of my time in Sydney but I loved it again when I re-visited in 2014.
Sydney, perhaps the most beautiful city in the world. I live in Melbourne, the great rival .... Sydney wins. I did this bridge walk in January 2019, the Bridge is an amazing structure to explore, have a beer at the pub under the bridge on The Rocks side.
Thank you for shooting these. I lived in Sydney for six years back in the 90s and I've been back six times since we left. It's so nice to be able to re-live experiences like walking across the bridge or around the harbour and other places in the beautiful harbour city. It helps me to get my Sydney fix without needing to travel on a plane for a whole day. I've perhaps one last trip in me. Last two occasions I was there, 2011 and 2018, I travelled alone. On my last day in Sydney in 2018 I told my wife I felt I was saying goodbye to Sydney. But she told me she still wants to go back one more time. It might have been next year if not for Covid; so perhaps 2022. Though I and a group of friends, one of whom lives in Sydney, turn 60 in the next year or so and there is talk of a celebration down under... Keep up the good work, anyway!
Fabulous walk. I need to do this next time I'm in Sydney (aiming end of next year due to COVID and my budget). While Sydney seems an expensive city, the public transport is far better and cheaper than in New Zealand. Wellington TH-camr.
I walked the bridge several times in the 1970's. The walk I remember most clearly was early on 20th October 1973. I walked from Milson's Point into the city and spent the day on the foreshore at what is now Hickson Road Reserve.Took hundreds of photographs (all now lost). It was the day of the opening of Sydney Opera House.
I have walked across the bridge from Milsons Point more than ten years ago. Thanks for the great video. This video is well done with stops for viewing and showed interesting information on the bridge too. I can watch this many more times.
Wow, this brings back memories. I worked at Milsons Pt in 1981 and walked across the bridge dozens of times. I can't recall if those ugly barbed wire barriers were there back then though? Maybe a different type of barrier? Did the bridge climb in 2010 on the most perfect Autumn Sydney day, and it was a wonderful experience! $19 for the Southern Pylon Lookout at first looks pricey, but considering the cost of the bridge climb, it is fantastic value, and the museum is very interesting too. Beautiful views across the harbour, quay and the bridge itself from a unique vantage point that most visitors to Sydney would never see. Some of the locals aren't even aware it's there! I moved interstate 20 years ago, but I still think of Sydney as home :)
Thank you for all of your wonderful vlogs. I have walked many of the same pathways. Most enjoyable, as always. Keep up the excellent work. Peace to all..
A fantastic video.walked on the bridge a few times. the view of the harbour and CBD are beautiful. thank you. great memories for my family and myself. your channel is my favourite. looking forward to the next videos you do.
I have walked over the bridge " THE HANGER" .....4 or 5 times- back in 2002....pretty awesome views!!!!!.... OUR bridge... The TYNE BRIDGE ...here in Newcastle England, is almost the same design, built by the same construction company but it ain't got nothing on it's big brother or sister in Sydney!!!!!!!!!!
I have driven and on train through the bridge many times, but never walked through the bridge. Thanks for sharing. I'm gonna try this walk when I go back to Sydney
Me too, though did the Bridge climb. That walkway was originally for trains to Northern Beaches then turned into trams from Nth Syd to Wynyard via tunnels now unused. So there was 6 road lanes & 4 train tracks, so glad we have what is today.
🍎👍 Nice walk over the bridge. Some nice views despite the barbed wire and chain link fence. Interesting plaque about the workers who "gave there lives" like it was a societal effort instead of a company making a profit. Still, cool walk. Thanks. -H
Beautiful! You are so lucky to be in a city where there are no masks, no social distancing, no gestapo police force and just this beautiful walk. I am in Melbourne, which is like a prison right now. Thanks for sharing.
Imagine they got rid of all those ugly fences, how much better it would look, just because someone wants to die doesnt mean others have to be inconveinienced
