Thank you for making a review on a nice lens.
Greg has already supplied correct information on the lens. I would like to add some adaptation information.
I have been adapting this lens for three years now. But I don't use your style adapter. The correct place for the aperture for a Cooke triplet is behind the 2nd glass element. So you have to cut the lens at least in two parts and rebuild the hole middle part. It's much harder to do than your adaptation, and not simple as printing a part. But I believe at the end, if done correct, better. Big downsite to my style of adapting is that you need a lathe.
One way to improve your Heidosmat adaptation is to add a front filter thread. I think you can find a way to adapt this to the lens.
    Keep adapting and shooting 👍
    Kind regards from Holland

Wow thank you for sharing your modifications methods. Certainly good to know the better way to do it. Probably beyond my means and skills now but hope to do so in the future. Cheers!

Do you adapt this lens for other people in this way? Or do you know a guide showing how to do it?

Heidosmat was extensively used by Rollei, but never for taking pictures.
It was used as a projection lens, as in this case, for medium format like the P11 slide projector.
But moreover, it was used as a VIEWING lens (the upper lens) on the twin-lens Rolleiflex.
It is a 3-element, Cooke Triplet, from an 1883 design, and considered insufficiently corrected today for taking pictures, but they actually CAN produce surprisingly good results if used carefully.

Thanks for sharing and the inspiration for mounting these lenses to Copal 3 shutters. (I'm a portrait photographer and TH-camr and I have the Aero Ektar on my SG camera. You'll see me test more fast lenses in the coming months!

Cool to see someone else using this lens too. I've had varied results, it doesn't like bright light from my testing.

nice. did u use it on a Speed Graphic?

More of a Xenotar 150mm 2.8 alternative although prices are getting similar so might as well just get a Xenotar if that’s your thing.

    • @AnaloguePT

If U get a bare one without a shutter like I did, it would be of a lower price.

Yes I looked at Xenotars too. I just ordered a 135mm f3.5 Planar (with a second mortgage) so I'll share the results in new 4x5 vids soon (I have the 150/4.5 and 210/4.5 Xenars. Also very nice, especially the 210mm. Need to do more testing to my Aero Ektar, Leitz 150/2.5 etc!)

Yes I was having the same idea! I have the SG and some fast lenses but it would be nice to use them with a shutter on my other 4x5 cameras! I'll see how I get on and make more 4x5 videos.

It's a cool lens but not really the same rendering as the Aero Ektar. It's way more modern in its look and bokeh. :)

Hi there, very interesting video. I own a Leitz Elmaron 150/2.8 which I would like to adapt for my Chamonix. Where could I get the file from for the adapter that you had printed? Cheers, Siggi

Hi there, the final design is in the video description..

I think the Leitz lens is too fat for this shutter. I have the Hektor 150mm f2.5 and it's bigger than C3 I think. See it in my recent video "30yr old film"

Nice! What is the distance from the lens to the ground glass when focus at infinity?

What tripod head base are you using? It's so huge!

    • @AnaloguePT
      @AnaloguePT  ปีที่แล้ว +1

Oh it is a Majestic 6x7 inches head. Very big and heavy. I use it to support up to 8x20 camera.

The 3D part you added doesn’t fit the lens or copal3 shutter , the dimensions are totally wrong 😂

how far was it off? i just checked the copal3 final.stl file, it is the same one shown in the video. nevertheness you can adjust the .scad files to suit your needs.
