I am totally okay with the card being called Mr Babycakes, and I continue that tradition. I would like to know _why_ the name Mr Babycakes was chosen, though.
the opening exchange between Kathleen (I'm a happy bunny) and Graham's 'Oh no....' was some how so delightful! delightful enough to encourage me to engage positively with the content presented.
Small rules correction Kathleen should not have made a saproling with octomancer since the saproling had not been made when the octomancer trigger went on the stack.
If Graham or anyone else was curious, the adorable Burnished Hart art is from the Baldur's gate set that they reprinted here! Love the art still tho and it fits so well.
When Cori reads the type line on the commander. I can clearly see Graham is deep in the tank trying to come up with a portmanteau it. I just know its true😋
"huh, it feels weird that Kathleen isn't on the squirrels deck given that it's very spooky and nefarious" > Look over at the Bnuuy deck, remember that it has poison counters and a psychosis crawler "Right, nevermind."
So I literally came across Kathleen and Graham yesterday in possibly one of my favourite commander games ever when watching Game Knights. Seeing Kathleen Go from Aristocrats Zombies to Group Hug Ms.Bumbleflower is one of the best things ever. 😂
24:00 Yeah, I think you're right, Nelson. I think it was a YMTC, and maybe the playtest name decided on by the community was "Mr. Babycakes", because early internet.
Great to see another precon playthrough. I'm loving this set. Personally, I picked up the Bumbleflower deck, but I've played against the Racoon one a few times, and it seems the strongest of the four. - that being said, all four decks seem a lot of fun to play. In all my years playing Forgotten Anciant, not once have I noticed you can place its counters on opponent's creatures from it.😅
My LGS had a Commander day with these precons where you got one at random, and I didn't get the one I was hoping for but fell in love with the one I did get after playing with it a couple of times and now it's one of my pet decks. Honestly, all four of them are pretty powerful right out of the box, much more than the precons of days of yore it seems like.
@@kilo3989 Sponsorship is still mentioned in description and in the sign off in the video, so either there was a hiccup in editing or shooting or there's been a call to drop the pre-pre-tape opening
The off-set cards in these precons really stand out way more to me then I think any other set. Having regular sized people along side the squirrels and frogs makes me laugh 😂
I mean, the size on the bloomburrow art is really arbitrary anyway. See bakersbane duo, where a squirrel is the size of a raccoon's hand, and lightshell duo, where a rat is the same size as an otter. Bloomburrow critters are clearly the size of plot.
2:27 after that teaser into the chaos gremlin vibes were so strong I swore that Kathleen was saying "I'm playing Miss BumbleF***" and I kept that mental energy going all game, cheering for the AggroRabbit..!
1:00:27 commenting for le algorithm. While graham made a saproling in the endstep, Kathleen’s copy token trigger would be on top of the saproling creation. Kathleen could have made a copy of the blood token but I’m not sure how huge of a deal that is. Always love the videos :)
This is the first precon battle VOD I have watched in which Bello didn't just demolish the table. My LGS had an event for these precons to battle and I warned everyone that Bello was much stronger than the rest. Being on Bumbleflower, I had the easiest time shaping the politics. I never once helped the Bello player and she still almost won and never felt behind even with me goosing the other two decks.
One of my favorite groups, Cori is one of my favorites on Commodore Hustle for her delivery, Nelson because I always learn something about improving my own play, and Graham and Kathleen bring a great mix of different types of gremlin skullduggery
Thank goodness for Coach. I love that the rules of Magic require everyone to maintain an accurate board state and he helps to the best of his ability. Also thank goodness he doesn't play in my metas where when I do everyone complains that I'm ruining the game...
@1:03:30 do the soldier tokens enter the battle field and pass priority before the resolution of the destruction? Could Cory have responded by sacing squirrels to kill soldiers?
I will say, in my first game with the BLC decks both Agate Instigator and Boss's Chauffeur were MVPs. Not in exactly the same way, but the Instigators did probably 10-15 damage to all throughout the game and the Chauffeurs turned into 20 Citizens that helped me clean up after a late board wipe.
Bello is an absolut brilliant commander , I have already updated this deck and it’s a monster when nobody takes care about the commander himself, maybe I put some boots in it so it’s harder to exile him. Really love this little raccoon ❤
Nelson’s plan at the end is how I feel the Zinnia deck is meant to be built (or at least how I’m building it). Just as many impact tremors-type abilities as possible
Maelstrom Pulse sounds like a very bad pick for a Commander deck until you remember tokens. And *then* you remember this is _Bloomburrow_ ... (granted it wasn't used like that here but)
Love this show so much great content as always. I must say, it has been so nice not having to worry about purchasing product these last few sets. Didn't like the aesthetics of bloomburrow thunder junction and eldraine. Just sitting back and enjoying the content.
The Racoon deck not involving the Graveyard much is an issue that can also be had with them in the main set. It really does feel like they should have had them lean into Red's Rummaging and sacrifice effects and Green's Regrowth/Self Mill effects to get real Racoon feel in Red/Green instead of just feeling like more Gruul Midrange.
I have 2 question about the end. Was the Agate Instigator being treated like a Warstorm Surge? And where did the tokens come from, cause the Broodmoth cant return tokens that died, cause apon hitting the graveyard they cease to exist. It even explains the interaction with Broodmoth and token in Gatherer.
Goat calamity (3) (green) (white) Eat- ETB: Destroy each artifact and enchantment, for every artifact and enchantment Goat calamity gets a +1/+1 counters Bleh- Remove (X) +1/+1 counters Goat calamity deals 1 damage to any target for each +1/+1 counters removed this way
Nelson is correct; Forgotten Ancient was the first You Make The Card. Mr. Babycakes was the temp name while votes were happening.
And came out 21 years ago in Scourge. A year later we would get the second one, Crucible of Worlds.
They should have just kept that name!
I am totally okay with the card being called Mr Babycakes, and I continue that tradition.
I would like to know _why_ the name Mr Babycakes was chosen, though.
But did I make it? Did I went across, around and under and into the Elder Dragon Social Club?
Oh no! It's missing! 😮
You never left. This is becoming a hostage thing, better get wheeler on the radio.
I feel so lost.
It's probably to improve retention, but the lack of almost any intro material in this feels really jarring tbh.
The signs that Matt is editing this are very subtle
Almost imperceptible
Exceedingly subtle, an exercise for the viewer
Ms Bumblefower is a mob boss. She'd be right at home on New Capenna.
She'd have the Brokers renamed the Bumbleflowers within a month
Considering her possible partner, Foxglove, I agree.
the opening exchange between Kathleen (I'm a happy bunny) and Graham's 'Oh no....' was some how so delightful! delightful enough to encourage me to engage positively with the content presented.
12:55 "Goat Head" instead of "Go Ahead" is a tradition with me and my brother, especially in the presence of a trading post.
Everytime they Say Zinnia all I can hear in my head in Beej going "Zinnias.... _Fucking_ Zinnias"
Came here to say that exact thing.
"Welcome back to Foraging with Frog! It's the height of spring here on Bloomburrow, so you know what that means: Zinnia. *Fucking* Zinnia..."
The lack of a "You made it!" intro made me think I missed some of the video lol
It felt like I was reading a card and it just said "when this creature enters..."
the reverb on the goat sound nearly made me choke on my coffee
Goatzilla
Small rules correction Kathleen should not have made a saproling with octomancer since the saproling had not been made when the octomancer trigger went on the stack.
I love Kathleen’s little bunny ears. Commitment to the bit.
the lack of an intro where I get to find out what journey I have been on to arrive at the EDSC really threw me off...
Editor is the GOAT
"the sound of salad hitting the ground" is incredible
"happy birthday to the GROUND!"
This episode seemed especially fun for all players. Great episode. That counterspell from Kathleen was likely the high point.
According to a top result of google "Mr. Babycakes was the original playtest name for Forgotten Ancient, the first You Make the Card back in Scourge."
but y tho
Engagment locked in. Love Bloomburrow, love LRRMTG.
I too love both LRR and the Bloomburrow setting!! Consider this my offering to the god that is engagement algorithm.

Excellent, as always. Thank you!
Love the emotes every time "goat" is mentioned. 🐐
Thanks to Cori, I now want to see the Eldrazi come to Bloomburrow. XD

40:23 Graham’s “jegus” sure sent this particular elder homestuck fan back in time a few years out of nowhere 😂😂

Octomancer only copies creature tokens...
I love the cozy atmosphere of this show, and Bloomburrow fits so well
Oh beautiful timing on posting this!
Nelson's Klimt inspired Jayce/Varaska sleeves are fire.
It's a beautiful Monday, friends! Thank you LRR! I like Bello!

No you don't get any priority to respond during the resolution of a spell
It's interesting how Ms. Bumbleflower giving people cards is technically a crime
Ms.Bumbleflower is actually the Archfey in disguise

That burnished hart art isn't new, it's from Baldur's Gate
Engagement! Loved the game!
As long as Kathleen is having a good time, that’s what’s matters. Also, bumbleflower being Nadu in disguise is hilarious and I wish it was canon 😂
Nelson said "Go on, git!" to that dog, for a land.
Loved that ending
Mr. Babycakes was the original playtest name for Forgotten Ancient, the first You Make the Card back in Scourge.
Many of these creatures look like they're having just the best time as they inflict wonton death and destruction across the battlefield
Ms. Bumbleflower is wanted in 3 counties for mass murder and another 7 for her pie recipe.
Cool ending didn’t see that nice combo happening
“You love me, and I’m going to show you what that gets you.”
I think we all thought of the same line from Gardening with Greg when we heard Nelson's Commander's name.
Nelson’s plan at the end is how I feel the Zinnia deck is meant to be built (or at least how I’m building it). Just as many impact tremors-type abilities as possible

39:43 "a block's not ample since that thing has trample" rhymes and is pg
26:50 this isn't an effect or anything, Cori can just do that
Ms. Bumbleflower has been oddly the most successful deck I have worked with out of the precons. That deck is oddly mean!
Great episode as always.
35:30 Decimate should not have been countered since Long River's Pull only counters creature spells =(

The Racoon deck not involving the Graveyard much is an issue that can also be had with them in the main set. It was kind of funny how often they swapped between calling her Ms and Mrs Bumbleflower.
