I’ve seen some people take the blade out and use a craft knife blade to cut the paper and it seemed to work ok. That might get you by until you get a new paper trimmer.

I like the background effect where you distressed the bird. I wonder how it would look with the cutout placed over it, sort of 3d-ish🤔
