I forgot to mention that you can transfer your NRF scholarship from one university to another if you are successful but decide to study somewhere else.
I'm sorry, but as informative as this video was, I was also smiling and laughing at my screen because WHY do I feel like I could listen to you speak all the time! The part of you talking about people taking chances with working and studying whilst on funding had me cracking up!
On the master's part not getting the funding that's most of us made the mistake on😮😮you are spot on. I think even Universities are not raising much awareness on this part too in as much as it is our responsibility to do research on funding too.
Hey there, I hope you're doing well. I just wanted to check in and see if it would be possible to negotiate with NRF regarding the funds. I've been awarded the grant, but unfortunately not the FCS. I was wondering if it would be feasible to ask NRF to consider reallocating the remaining funds for food and traveling expenses instead of returning them. It would really help me out and ensure that I can make the most of the opportunity. Let me know if there's a possibility we can discuss this further. Thanks so much for your help!
Hi NRF does not decide on how funds are allocated. The university research office does. Priority is given to the fees/tuition then residence if u stay in a uni res then the rest of the money is given to you. It depends on the uni, they can give u the balance as lump-sum or divide it monthly or quarterly n u decide what to do with the money
Hi @Princess_Ngokz, I'm on partial funding (118k) what if I don't register for the university residence and stay home since It's not far. Tuition fees are 40k incl registration, will I get the remaining amount?
Hey I wanted to know when can you see if NRF has approved you funding? On my status it says "Designated authority submission review". What does that mean.
NRF will release a list on facebook and their website. Its usually around feb for honours students. But they will also send you an email if you are successful. You can follow their facebook page for updates.
Hello Princess. Does NRF fund Education. I'm a B Ed 4th year Foundation Phase student, I want to do honours next year. I was on the website but its only written that they fund Humanities, not specifically written that they fund Education honours.
Hi loves hope you're good. Wanted to ask if you got funding for 2024, i have applied for 2025 also doing final year foundation phase. I just wanna know the possibilities of being funded for honors education.🙏 @Enhle_Nompilo_Mbatha
Thank you so much for the information, out of context question but can I study my honours at another university even though my undergraduate degree is from Unisa ?
Most definitely. Unisa is like any other university in SA. The only difference is their learning management system. Otherwise you can study at any uni after Unisa
Im looking for that story working and funding yourself. If i may ask, because this is completely out, with the psychology degree alone, what jobs can i get. Before going for honors and masters. I understand i cannot be a psychologist as yet, but im looks for something that can help me to work so that i can fund myself if NRF doesn’t approve. I am SACAP( South African College of Applied Psychologist). Just be honest with me even if it hurts 😂😂😂. And apart from NRF What are other busaries out there for post graduate because i have been looking and looking. Hopefully you answer my question with a video ❤😅 I forgot to ask, since NRF start to fund late when the registration are open, that means you have to pay your own, or maybe tell the university that, accept but don't have the funds yet. I don't know how that work, please also explain.
Hi cc...so if now I'm completing my BEng and would like to use NRF next year how do I do it since I haven't completed and left with 4 subjects for this semester?
this was very informative, thank you so much. I have a question with regards to our final marks (honours applicants). do we have to upload them at some point or is that not necessary since NRF works with the different institutions of the students ?
I think final results should be submitted to the uni research office by Dec. Remember there is an institution you used as your application uni. So. Immediately when you receive them
Hi, where do I find a proof that I was funded by nsfas, if I had a gap year before I applied for honours. N.B I finished a degree last year and I applied for honours this year.
Hey so does the average of 65 percent apply to all the modules for the year because so for I have a 63 percent average for first semester marks, hoping to improve my average during the second semester. Do I also send my end of year results? Thank you
Hi, may you kindly clarify your question, are you already enrolled for honours and you need NRF funding for honours, if so, it's late, rather apply for masters funding if you are planning to do one. You apply for NRF a year before
Hello, if ur eligible to get funded but you went because of budget constraints, can you appeal to get funded as not everyone will be taking this bursary
Hi,no, you cant appeal. But you may be considered should ppl not accept their awards. But you will be funded partially. This is provided ppl do not accept their scholarships
Hi, i hope you're well. I am considering applying to NRF maters for 2025. I am under EMS and intend to do a Masters in Industrial Relations. I know that it is mostly for STEM degrees, so can you suggest any topics that can help me get funding because i heard you mentioning that there's a certain area of study they're interested in. Thank you in Advance!
Hey all the best with your application. I think you should first speak to a potential supervisor or connect with someone in the field on LinkedIn to get some ideas.
Hi, do you create a new application if you're a 1st time masters applicant (doing honors 2023 and had applied for honors) or do you create your masters applicantion in your old portal?
There are different calls, NRF masters are separated from the honours and PHD. So u have to create a new application. I hope i have answered your question
Hey Sis. I was trying to apply but now I was asked about my research topic and whatever, what should I write there because I am not yet sure what do I want to do my research on. I am planning to do honours in chemistry. I hope you respond😭😭
Hi you need to have a mini research proposal before applying for NRF. For honours it doesn’t need to be that detailed and remember u can always change the topic when enrolled
so i am currently in my third year ( this i for the year of 2024) and want to apply for NRF. i want to know, do they look at my second year average? or do they wait for my final year marks to make a final decision.
Does it count if you are working as a tutor on the same university where you are studying? while being funded by nrf? will they kick me out of the nrf system?
Consent to the NRF-ISFAP, and/or such other person or entity that the NRF-ISFAP may designate, the absolute right and permission to conduct creditworthy checks, affordability assessments and to verify his/her combined household income in order to ascertain whether they qualify for NRF-ISFAP funding.
@@Princess_Ngokz please assist me with the process. How do I apply because when I tried applying I saw undergraduate scholarship instead of NRF-DFF Postgraduate scholarships😭
Yes, but first find out why you were rejected. Is it eligibility? Is it because of how you filled your application? Find out by visiting your university research office and they will clarify❤
Nrf responded to my Honours application last week. I got an email saying "I should check my status", upon checking in my nrf profile. I saw a "accept award?" sign next to my Honours application, accepted the application but am still waiting. Does this normally happen, whereby they respond to your application after months. Because at this point am not sure if I will receive the funding. Another thing, if you have paid your fees. Does nrf still fund you??
I forgot to mention that you can transfer your NRF scholarship from one university to another if you are successful but decide to study somewhere else.
Hy can you please help me with NRF application it will close on the 16th of this month

I found the right space. Thank you so much for this content.
