June 10 to July 20 is an on-off rainy 🌧️ season. You won’t sweat as much, and having rain gear means you can enjoy the country more without as many tourists too! Rainy gear is kind of fun but def a little restricting. The cool weather is nice compared to what you get when the sun’s out 🥵
rain is good. alot of places throughout South East Asia is having drought and water shortages. it is sad to see people unable to be grateful for such blessing but consider it a woe, how ungrateful are the fortunate!!
we arrived today. i packed some really light summer clothes but when we arrived this morning in Nagoya, it was raining hard and we were greeted with cool air. love it!
In a Central Texas we have had our own monsoon season this year. Rain almost everyday from February until a week ago. More than a year’s worth of rain already. Last rain was 5 inches in 30 minutes. Temperatures are lower than normal due to the rain, but humidity is extremely high and unusual for the area.
Thanks for sharing.. I really didn’t know too much about weather in Japan. I knew the summers were hot and sticky, but didn’t know about rainy season. I hope you will do a video when the typhoons come!
Was in JP from June 10th-19th. On the 18th, just this Tuesday, it was raining almost the whole day and the first thing I observed was how clear the rain water is on the pavement, a very stark contrast compared to my country where it's almost chocolate-like color when the rain water hits the pavement 😆😆
I’m flying in a few days to celebrate my birthday so I’m indifferent. Plus it’s hot humid in Hawaii so it’s same old business lol. I’m also going for the festivals. Getting in touch with my historical roots XD.
I'm in Tokyo right now on my first trip ever. I did notice that today was the first big rain I've seen since I got here on June 5th,and it's kinda funny viewing your vid as a "current event" happening right now. Hoping it lets up a little, just long enough for me to check out a few more sites before I go back on the 27th.
311mm in Kagoshima City in the 24 hours ending at 8am today. 422mm in Ibusuki. It was REALLY windy overnight as well. The sun is out at the moment so I'm doing a quick laundry to get it out to dry before it rains again.
This might be a bit too early to ask, but I’m planning a trip to JP on October, do you have any insider tips on what to prepare and packs? Maybe a video for all the seasons and weathers in JP?
Hey there my bro. Such a stark difference in weather from your last livestream and today. Just like on Oahu. In fact, here it will look like a beautiful sunny day with blue skies and will be raining at the same time. Lol. That Margherita pizza looks so good. Let me know how it tasted. I usually only get Margherita pizza from our local CPK. Are there CPK restaurants in Japan? If so wonder how the pizzas are there. Stay warm and safe my friend.
I think I would spend more money in local areas where there isn't a price disparity. We spend a LOT of time enjoying the food from the little food stalls and mom & pop shops. As a family of 7 though it is always amusing to 'pack' a small ramen shop because we fill all the seats! We did that late at night in a small ramen shop out near Shichirigahama station, and we ordered a plate of food for each of us, including the 3 year old, because we were taking the seats and we should foot the bill. Those little shops are the real food soul of Japan and I am happy to leave my money there.
Here in MICHIGAN (GO BLUE 💙💛) its been the hottest june that i could remember. It has also rained every day of the week. It feels muggy and tropical. Very strange for june to feel like a july. Stay cool and dry john
When i was younger, i would choose salami/hot dog, meat in general kinda pizza, but nowdays i always order 4 cheese pizza without other add-ons But those shrimps looks good 🍕
Love the rain, but not summer heat of Japan. If you say it's cool, maybe that is a good time for me to visit. I'd enjoy constant rain during my visit. Mahalos🤙🏽
Can you please make a Video of : the best Tokyo Tourist Spot when winter ( November - February ) ?? Especially at December, end of year-early January.. Really appreciated if you make it.. Thanks
Two tier pricing system is a flawed from psychological standpoint. Tourist feel ripped off or discriminated against. Smarter thing is to rise the prices to "tourist levels" and give discounts priced at current levels for anyone with residence card or Japan ID.
Absolutely right, it’s more than just the pricing. No one wants to pay more for being different - they should just raise prices for everyone and give locals a point card or something. Inflation costs get passed onto the customer or small biz goes outta biz 😢
@@onlyinjapanGOYes. I mentioned this in the Himeji video. Raise prices but then give local residents a discount. Everyone has some sort of ID proving local residency... even school kids.
Has anyone bothered to ask the business owners what they think? What do they care if they're getting money from tourists vs locals? They're just trying to survive. If Japan meddles in this and says they can charge tourists more, they're going to do all they can to attract MORE tourists, not less. Which is obviously going to exacerbate the "problem".
Thanks for sharing this, John! Informative as usual. 21:42 - IMHO, there is clear reason for it. There is big war is going on in Europe (Russo-Ukrainian war), biggest since WW2, with tanks, bombs, aviation, and ballistic rocket attacks every day. It is no surprise that seeing this countris all over the globe (and JPN is no exception) raise their military spendings dramatically. Stay safe, take care, everyone, and may you and your beloved ones never know what war is!
Japanese business owners serving tourists and locals are payed in Yen no matter who is paying, so how does the exchange rate effect them? That makes no sense. The exchange rate effects the cost of supplies that are purchased from a different country, sales to other countries directly, and exchange rates effect the attractiveness of Japanese products to overseas customers. Exchange rates may effect a country's economy, but only through the Government and import/export, and through direct trade with other countries, not through business's selling to tourists.
Sausage with smoked bacon, please. 😋 Delicious. I have to go look for pizza now. And it is going to be 47 Celsius today in my desert. 🔥🥵 Today is also the start of the monsoon, but last year, we did not get any storms. Zero rain drops. So it was very hot last summer. Usually, we get crazy downpours here in the desert, and the storm cools us down. But. if it doesn't rain, then the temps sizzle. Enjoy the rain, John!
I wouldn’t like that kind of weather but if i had to go somewhere then🤷🏼♂️Thank you anyway this informative and relaxing sream despite the rain🙂👍!!!

You have the talent to tell serene stories about all the unique locations you travel to. Very relaxing to watch! Thanks for sharing.
I have just come back from Japan, and the trip was just amazing, Japan is very authentic, and at the same time living in 2050.
Beautiful rainy day.
I love the rainy season!!
I love rain 🌧 💙 I want to experience a monsoon!

It’s refreshing! Knowing what summer is like here. Take in this cool air as much as possible 😃

As long as it’s not steaming hot. We were in Shibuya today and it was great as long as you used the underground.

Garlic shrimp was good, 3.5/5 and the sausage bacon marg was 3.6/5 so not too bad. Hard to get over a 4 in my book for pizza 🍕
@onlyinjapanGO Next time you're here on Oahu I'll take you to a local garlic shrimp spot that I know you and Kanae will simply love.
The 21st was the day I left Japan. GOOD timing
I'll be in Tokyo from July 03 to August 12. Here in Belgium it has been raining for 6 month :) So I don't mind rain
I've just come back from Tokyo that day.
I love this weather in Yokosuka and miss the pizza with corn
It may be raining in Tokyo, but the sun is always shining when John Daub is around ☀

If your British, you get used to it, after all, rainy season never ends here!..😂☔ but I think I like it.
Benefits of rain in Tokyo, shinjuku garden is empty 😂
Out of my month in Japan (Jan-Feb) I think it rained 2 maybe 3 days.
Seeing rain is extremely rare since I was raised in LA 😂
It’s a good time to visit, cheaper, less tourists, not as much rain, maybe some snow :)
@@onlyinjapanGO yup it was sunny visiting the monkey park in Nagano, snow festival in Hokkaido, and good weather at Shirakawago
Tell it to stop!!!
My tickets are booked...

Why do i have a feeling August this year might be hotter than last year 😂
I have that feeling 🥵
weird question: why are most umbrellas in japan are transparent translucent?
I wonder too... maybe cause there are so many people packed in a small space sometimes so you don't bump into others? Japan is a very polite place.
Hope to run into you sometime John, I’m in Roppongi this week.
What’s a good place to get a big transparent umbrella like yours? The bigger the better.
Amazon
Ah... and exchange rates do affect how much coffee you can buy from super chats (hehe). ☕☕☕
What us the Japanese etiquette for feet in sandals without socks?..
At least I didn't sweat today 😊
Seems like rainy season would time to get out of the city, right?
Well, I dunno, what are you gonna do? In the city, there are more “attraction” and outdoor activities are harder in the rain, right?
Hi John thanks for the info. Man, you need to get some sleep. ✌️

That sausage pizza would be gone in about 5-10 mins no problem 😂

Stay away from Osaka tomorrow please. I want to have a dry Universal Studios day. 😀
