    Thanks for the Great info Currently remodeling our Bathroom and been looking at your videos for reference . Just buying quality tools have made a world of a difference The Corona Cortez Paint Brush was the hardest to Source Locally even so I’m in LA most places including Sherwin Williams only Carry Purdy and there own store Brand

      @SuperVassarBrothers  ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m glad the videos have been helpful! You’re not the first person that’s had difficulties finding the Corona brushes. I’m not sure if they’re more common in the northeast (where I am) than in other places. Benjamin Moore retailers are the only stores that carry them around me, but I’ve got a few spots to choose from. Good luck with the rest of your projects!

    I just painted my ceiling in my bathroom and the ceiling in the kitchen. My neck is killing me. It came out beautiful and I did it with only 1 can of paint. However, I will not be tackling the other ceilings on my home. I’ll hire professionals. Between the pre work and my neck and arms killing me it’s not something I’ll do again. However, I feel so proud of myself and saved myse a lot of money doing it myself.❤️🤗

      I hear yah. Ceilings can be a big pain in the butt, particularly if you're not use to painting them. Well done!!

    Great job! It's nice to see how a pro tackled this room. I'm painting the interior of my house one room at a time. Your videos have been extremely helpful. BTW I'm in love with SW Duration matte for my interior walls and Duration semi gloss for trim. Best paint I've ever used. I did buy one gallon of exterior Duration for a small section of my exterior siding that needed some TLC. I was not impressed when I used it either in the sun or on a windy day. It seemed to dry very quickly and has already become thick in the can. I've since watched your videos and learned you switched to Benjamin Moore for exterior. Why did you make the switch? How can I thin out the remaining paint in the can? Thanks for your videos!

      Thanks for the kind words Lisa. For interior we like Sherwin Williams the best, for exterior Benjamin Moore. We've been using Benny Moore for exterior for the last 5 years. We used Duration Exterior in 2016 and vowed to never use it again. The Regal Select Soft Gloss is amazing for trim. Here is our video below. Also we use kitty litter to harden any paint we want to throw away. 50% kitty litter, 50% paint mix.

      Been doing weeks of research as I wasted a lot of money the 1st time I painted my remodel 😂
      Everyone says Matte Duration for walls…
      Trim/ doors satin emerald urethane’
      How are your walls holding up with the Duration Matte?

      I use a flashlight clipped to my hat, which works well for me. Here's the newer version of what I use www.amazon.com/OLIGHT-Rechargeable-Flashlights-Proximity-Flashlight/dp/B0BK9LR9BT/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=17PBNKDPSK38X&keywords=olight%2Bbaton%2B3%2Bpro%2Bmax&qid=1690457804&sprefix=baton%2B3%2Bo%2Caps%2C72&sr=8-1-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGY&th=1
      There's also a smaller version that I use, but the charge doesn't last as long.

    What kind of Roller Nap do you use? Great Tips, gonna have to try that Matte Duration and the Emerald Urethane trim paint I saw in a previous video, great work

      1/2 inch Wooster Pro-doo-z FTP is our go too currently. We switched to emerald matte about 2 years ago. Duration is still a solid choice though 🤙

    Thank you for sharing your expertise! A quick question: which caulking do you use around bathroom vanity?

    • @SuperVassarBrothers
      @SuperVassarBrothers  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for the feedback. We didn't caulk this vanity. When we do we use Sherwin Williams Powerhouse or Sherwin Williams Shermax caulk.

    Do you wash your drop cloths to minimize dust on the next paint job location? Or let them get soiled and replace down the line.

    • @SuperVassarBrothers
      @SuperVassarBrothers  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      We shake them out between jobs, and when they get too gross we'll wash them.

    Thank you for the video, a few questions.
    On day two when the ceiling was painted (coat 2) right after the trim and baseboard. Weren't you concerned with any ceiling paint droplets getting on the fresh trim and baseboard paint?
    Prior to painting the walls with coat 1, you taped off the baseboards, wouldn't the baseboards still be wet from the 2nd coat you applied earlier?
    Same with Day 3 painting walls, you aren't concerned with droplets from the wall paint getting on the doors or trim?
    Why didn't you use the Frog tape on top of the vanity and baseboards?
    Also did you use the same paint on the doors, trim, and baseboard as the ceiling?
    Lastly, just a friendly suggestion, the 50+ year old version of yourself will thank you for protecting your knees with knee pads.

    • @SuperVassarBrothers
      @SuperVassarBrothers  ปีที่แล้ว

      Question 1) I’m not concerned with droplets because Duration matte barely flecks with the roller setup I use
      2) Baseboards were dry when I taped them out. Keep in mind that we time lapse a lot of the work.
      3) I’m not concerned with flecking on the trim and doors with the wall paint. I tape out the baseboards which prevents any splatter from the wall paint.

    • @SuperVassarBrothers
      @SuperVassarBrothers  ปีที่แล้ว

      The paint on the ceiling is matte and the paint on the trim and doors is semi-gloss.
      As far as my knees go, I’ve grappled for over a decade so they’re hardened and already screwed. No need for knee pads 😏

    I watched but must have missed it. What did you use to clean the trims and doors and did you sand or degloss trims and doors? I'm sure you might have done this before the video. Do you sand inbetween coats? I don't use Sherwin Williams so not sure if you have to with their paints.

    • @SuperVassarBrothers
      @SuperVassarBrothers  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      We’ll wipe down or vacuum the walls and trim if it’s super dirty. This bathroom was renovated so a lot of the surfaces were previously cleaned or brand new material. There’s no need to degloss if you’re getting a good bond with your trim paint. Generally we’ll use a sand disk to scuff sand the walls and we don’t sand in between coats unless it really looks like it needs it.

    Great video! I think you mentioned you used Duration Matte on the ceiling. For bathrooms/wet areas, is it usually best to go with a higher gloss finish, or can Matte ceilings be OK in a bathroom?

    • @SuperVassarBrothers
      @SuperVassarBrothers  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Duration Matte works in for bathroom ceilings because it has moisture and mold block built into it. That's why I use it in bathrooms. This use to not be the case, and you did have to use a higher sheen on bathroom ceilings. Sherwin Williams Emerald and Duration lines of paint have moisture and mold blocking agents built into them. Benjamin Moore also has their Bath and Spa paint which only comes in matte. Now we have quite a few options in terms of sheens we can use in bathrooms. Yay for that!

      @@SuperVassarBrothers Thank you for the feedback! Is there a specific white color you use for ceilings, or do they have a ceiling white I can ask for? I appreciate your videos, and comment replies!

      Yes, I used Duration Matte in Sherwin Williams Upward 6239 on the walls.

    you don't wash down the soap scum on existing walls and doors? thanks for sharing the video

    • @SuperVassarBrothers
      @SuperVassarBrothers  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It depends on how nasty the bathroom is. This was a renovated bathroom so a lot of stuff was new. Also, I don't believe we showed all the prep we did in this video. We usually sand the walls and sometimes the trim. If the doors are gross then we'll sand them down and make sure our top coats will adhere properly.
