I don't know if you'll ever see this Sas, but I am Cambodian (also a huge fan) born in America, the first of my family. I was raised in foster care, but I always was curious about what my background would have been growing up in Cambodia or with my biological family. I've been studying, and so intrigued by those who are also of south east asian decent.. I learned Balut was very common. I actually found a market near me that sells it... I was so nervous but YOUR videos inspire me so much to try foods my ancestors, my parents and family have tried. I tried Balut with YOU for the first time. I can't tell you how much your videos mean to me. I have learned so much, and even though I missed the chance to learn from my family, I am grateful for your channel, sharing these exotics foods for the first time.

I've always been scared of trying balut due to the texture (I also don't like eating sardines for the same reason, the idea of hitting bone or beak weird me out for some reason) thank you for eating them and being honest about the taste and texture!! I look forward to trying them now

Balut is delicious with spicy vinegar.. Sometimes We mix vinegar and Salt, the yellow one is the most delicious part there, and the white one is too Hard to eat so I dont suggest eating that (It taste nothing btw).

Balut is savory and has a balance of taste and texture. I love the broth surrounding the embryo, and you have to slurp the broth after peeling. I only eat the yellow egg part of balut. The white egg part is hard like a rubber 😄 I don't eat the embryo, well, I've tried but I just cannot. This is best with chilied vinegar like pinakurat or sinamak and salt dip.
I used to only eat the yellow part but went for it one day and grew to like the embryo. It also taste rlly good with small slices of ginger dipped with salt mix
People are gonna hate me for saying this but the embryo is without a doubt the best part of balut. If your gonna just eat the yolk then just eat normal eggs.

Balut is a delicacy in the Philippines, and is apart of our culture. It’s not cruel, at all. What’s cruel is the fact that many of you guys eat meat from vicious slaughter houses that treat these animals as if their well being is less than a piece of trash.

I don’t really think balut is cruel in comparison to western slaughter houses but using the argument that “it’s part of our culture,” and, “if you don’t like it, don’t say anything,” is pretty stupid. People should be encouraged to share their opinions. Here in Canada in the native lands, when I was growing up I used to see the elders eat balut from their own backyards. So it is a delicacy here aswell. Just not sold on the streets as it is a treat among the native peoples heritage.
