@jasperaragon8889 yes we will do a set. I need to figure out packaging for that. And we will do new colors to expand the range, an oil range and acrylics by the end of it.
I've been using streaking grime and oil paints just to apply a wash (weathering is done before the enamel based paints), this video literally opened my mind to using the alcohol for the chipping effect and it would save me so much time. I can't wait to apply these extra bits of knowledge for next weeks painting batch.
Another insanely cool way to use the alcohol removal technique is to slide a layer of glue onto the miniature first. This offers the ultimate protection. Check out our Tyranid Course to get a full explanation of that. It's really a deep concept.
Its cool to see the official miniature line painted to suit the aesthetic of the game. Unlike another miniature game that paints its "grimdark future" line to look like toys in a catalog.
Bro your content is incredible. Your techniques have helped me a lot with my own painting. Seriously considering subbing to your paid service and using your paints. You're a fantastic talent!
That is awesome to hear. That's what we commit to do on the Grimdark Compendium, teach techniques out of the box for all skill levels, make it cool and different, and make it as immersive as possible. Give it a chance when you can, I think you will not be disappointed!
Make sure to follow Trench Crusade for updates! And rest assured, we will have awesome things coming up on Grimdark Compendium next year. A full fledged series dedicated to Trench Crusade!
I love anything that is GrimDark ha always have thats why I loved 40k 3th ED when I was like 10-11 the art in the books just got me, its why I lvoe Mork Borg as well it is its own kind of GrimDark with some extra style and paint minis for that in a very Grim way its just perfect. The Grim we get the better the world is lol I signed up on their webisite to get updates on things as it goes on.
I thought I would put this out as these models and this artwork is close to something I was working on recently - working up a plan for a diorama which might have been something like 'Turnip' based although I think the ability to have a limited degree of late steam age and early diesel age technology would give me greater freedom. Anyway, one of the model looks I was trying to find is like the 'Penitentes' or Copirates that appear in the artwork - this being a feature of the models and artwork that I really like and can't find anything else close. It looks as though I will have to wait for the models to become available while I push forward the diorama design and building design. Cheers
Where can we orget figures for Trench Crusade? Your Dark Grim Moody colors reflect the tone of this universe perfectly! Amazing art. You do Mikes work justice!
Krautcover fixer is isopropanol, less than 99% but I accidentally found out it strips paint, haha, didn't realise what it would do at first so I will try and use it for reductive techniques on acrylic. It's a lesser strength so might work well. Thanks
Using alcohol is an interesting technique. I suppose Airbrush Cleaner/non-toxic glass cleaner might work for this too? Have you tried using (good) watercolors or Gouche for water-based removal technique?
Stumbled on this channel and like what I see! A great antithesis to some of the bright, breezy and frankly, bland youtube channels that are out there and are cropping up.
hi, been watching alot of ur videos lately and been painting more with this style, wanted to ask what are the best brushes to use and how is best to care for them during and after painting with enamels
theres tints of green and brown on the bare plastic, was this for texture etc after painting or was there gap filling done? love the work and cant wait to get my own trench crusade minis in the mail
@@DarkAgesWorkshop cool. I backed trench crusade a while ago and can't wait to be able to paint and play. The world, lore and models that have been created so far is amazing
Texture is king! I do this even with my 3d printed stuff more so big flat armour plates or on tanks, can use anything from putty to texture paints, sand, on platic you can use a tiny bit of plastic glue and a little pick tool to add little holes or warp it from damage, or just the good old super glue and baking soda trick.
Please please make a review on monument hobbies new product pro acryl Newsh. Its an acrylic medium that can change the consistency of the paint and extends the drying time of acrylics allowing you to practice the reductive technique. Before I buy I would love to hear your take on it.

Hope you enjoy the video, folks! Make sure and check the Grimdark Compendium website to learn more and to pick up your Villainy Ink Enamels.
Is villainy ink ever going to sell all the colors as a set? And then future colors as expansion set?

34 years of painting minis and finally something that inspires me like the early 90s GW did.
Glad to hear that. You're welcome!
@@GrimdarkCompendium I bought the set. Can't wait to try it out.
Bit late, but holy shit bro CONGRATS on the opportunity to become the lead painter of the mini's! Very awesome and WELL deserved! :D

@@GrimdarkCompendium you got it! I’ve been looking at some of your courses and I’ll be starting them in the new year. I didn’t know about that method
Trench Crusade ftw! Looking forward to getting my KS and can’t wait to get grimy!
Oh yes! We are excited to make an entire series of it!
Awesome to hear. 2024 will be an awesome year for Grimdark, rest assured!

Immensely appreciate it! I will make sure to get it right and give the art justice. I'll put my best efforts.
True!
The aesthetic feels very SoulsBorne. I love it

True!!
An awesome demonstration and comparison of techniques that I havent seen before.
This looks so awesome. I will be getting this game for sure.
The rules are in playtesting stage and are looking awesome. The setting is insanely cool, like Diablo meets WW1 and Holy Crusades!
That's great! Truly grim!
I really wanna see this game actually played. I feel like it has so much potential.
There is a play test available on the official website. Core rules + 2 warbands! People are playing it and having a blast. It's great so far.

We appreciate it!
I actually love Gallagher art. Specially his fallen angels.
Awesome. I'm reading the Blood Angels codex for 4th edition right now with his artwork, the man is a true Legend.
game looks really fun and the minis look great, just curious how do they stack up size wise to say like a space marine or other gw models?
By comparison, the base troops models are similar to GW Sisters of Battle in terms of scale.
Using alcohol is an interesting technique. I suppose Airbrush Cleaner/non-toxic glass cleaner might work for this too?

How do you clean your airbrush after using enamels?
Mineral spirits followed by water or alcohol
hi, been watching alot of ur videos lately and been painting more with this style, wanted to ask what are the best brushes to use and how is best to care for them during and after painting with enamels
Cheap brushes are fine. Clean with Abteilung Magic potion.

Yes, exactly! I did some minor gap filling and texturing.

We are always adding textures to models. It's easy to overdo it, but I highly recommend giving it a go.
Great tips!

Yes, soon. Need to work out packaging

Not yet. They just had the kickstarter.

Are you italian?
I hope the new minis are not Siocast. I have not had a single good experience with SioCast
When Muslim and Christian finally agree on one thing
You are wrong. Paint your models bright and highlight. Best to use brettonian colour schemes
What a weird comment. There are so many ways to paint minis, there's isnt a sole "right" way.
Its a shame people are getting banned and pushed out of the fandom for no reason
