I am building a 1974 Aermacchi SX-250. I know it is a big bore but 250 cc 2 stroke but want to do a long adventure ride on it. I am in Phoenix so trying to finish the bike during the summer so I can head out this fall. Great videos and keep up the good work.
That's so cool. Most people write off two strokes for long adventure, but the older designs are so simple (and efficient, and reliable using modern oils) that they can actually be really good for that type of riding
Since you're running pre-mix you could mount a moped "top tank" and center bar to get an honest 1-2.5Gal fuel capacity. And to mount the phone (which you can also use a free GPS speedometer app I am since my speedo got broke by some would be thieves), you could use 3M scotch extreme dual lock (like velcro but WAY stronger) Good video!
Hey I read this today and thought I'd pass it along in case it's news to you. Sounds interesting for you speed runs. "You can take the gearset out of a PWt50 for higher gearing. You'll just have to press out and swap the wheel shafts. You'll want to change the springs in the clutch for racing ones to help with takeoff."

Haha! The QT50 can actually be a money saver! It cost me $75 to register it for life, no insurance required on it in NV, and I can go to the store a billion times before needing to fill it with fuel again! Might not be a bad idea if you can stay dedicated to riding it for a few months so the savings pay it off :D

Thanks for watching! Size 75 main jet, needle clip at 2nd richest position, stock pilot (just tweak the mixture screw, it makes HUGE adjustments to mixture). This is a compromise because it runs great at my home elevation of 3,000 feet with high temperatures, but it starts four-stroking when I get up into the mountains above 7,000ft. That is okay with me. I'd rather have it a tad too rich at elevation. It might be a tad too lean at sea level, and that will likely be okay as well as long as I don't hold it wide open for minutes at a time. You'll have to put in your own due diligence though. Most people do not live at elevation with heat like Nevada has, so my jetting could be far off from what everyone else would suggest. I definitely put in my due diligence, however

Hey how can I tell if my oil pump is working on my qt50... I just got this thing running after new carb and the top end lost a lot of compression down to 75 psi... took the head off and it's all scored after maybe 4 hours of riding. want to do big bore kit but won't want it to burn down again
Thanks for watching! Download an owner's manual and find the section for oil pump adjustment. Adjust the oil pump to maximum, then watch it as you turn the bike on and rev it on the stand. You will know for sure if the oil pump is physically pumping because you'll see the the piston start to move in and out. Then, the bike should start to smoke a lot and will not run cleanly. If that happens, the oil pump is working and you can then dial it down until the bike runs cleanly. I ditched the oil pump because I could not get clean running at all speed/rpm/throttle openings. The best way to run the bike and ensure reliability is with premix

+SurfVato4211 you have to disable and disconnect the oil pump first, and then jet it correctly for premix. You can't just dump it in and expect it to work

I tried putting premix in my tank it started smoking like a mother Fucker on my qt50
