Unfortunately, I have to move with my cat from Port Angeles, WA via Las Vegas to NW Arizona at the end of December. My Volvo XC60 has AWD and new all-season tires, which are not as efficient as the snow tires I was required to have in Europe during the winter. I drove a lot in the Austrian mountains during the winter, but only with a FWD car equipped with winter tires. What kind of tires did your vehicle have during your road trip to Las Vegas and did your vehicle have AWD/4WD? What about snow chains? I think I must buy chains for the front tires. I never saw Europeans use snow chains, but we all had to drive with winter tires during the winter.
