  • I didn't feel very enthusiastic about this one, driving a brand new PHEV for the day left me asking more questions than it had answered. My verdict comes from the few hours of living with the Q3, let me know if you can answer the questions I had.

I don’t like it but I’ll take something petrol powered over a pushbike 😃

I'm with you on the Q3, As an S5 driver don't think I could deal without the quattro now, when I want to get off the line I just want to smash the throttle and go. as for the space in the car it don't look good I've got more in mine, the mpg's are shocking as well, I can get the same from my v6 "if I drive in eco" as for the looks, it looks cheep, you would think for a 40k + car it would look better. The only thing it had going for it was Audi's 50 shards of grey colour, like every other Audi I see. with Audi going touch screen in everything now don't think my next car will be an Audi and for the last 10 years that's all I've had. Its a hard decision to make when picking a new brand as I've loved Audi's for many years.

You’ve made some great points, the first thing I said to myself was “nice colour” and then I was trying to be as fair about it as possible - but it really doesn’t make sense to me. I believe a lot of people think having an SUV means more usable space, but estate cars for me is where it’s at.
I’m glad my S4 is at the age where it’s not too old, looks great, makes all the right noises (apart from the rattles), is fast and can achieve nearly 40mpg if driven efficiently.
      Thanks for watching Chris 👍🏻

Interesting you mention "whats the point" because I wondering the same. Maybe the monthly cost? in some countries, like sweden, you dont pay extra yearly tax for this (because it is hybrid). A normal Q3 would cost you around around 800-900 SEK extra a month. With the hybrid you alo get around 20000 SEK back from the government after owning it for 6 months

Sounds like a push towards electric to me, but I won’t go too far into that on here. After making this video I have talked to a guy that has a company car and he told me having a purely petrol/diesel car would cost him hundreds more a month in company car tax. Much like you mentioned in your comment.
It seems “the point” is unless you go green, we’ll price you out of the motoring world.

@@JAYPCARS yes exactly. So it could be more of a "political" design decision than a practical one.

@@threedeafears In my opinion - yes.

@@JAYPCARS p.s. after driving it for a couple of weeks now, the whole thing makes perfect sense if you have a charger at home. you simply save a lot of money in the day to day driving. (not sure about the medium / long term costs though)

Seems expensive for what it is - but i guess the men in suits who just get in and drive will buy.

@@JAYPCARS How many other PHEV you know in such format? I mean, a middle SUV for daily trips up to 20 miles by city.

@@liveshow2752Like I say in the video, I could be totally wrong about the car, but just don't get it at all. I guess rivals being RR Evoque and Volvo XC40? Being my 1st dip into hybrid it may just be not enough time with it - but living in Cornwall, not sure it makes much sense to me.

@@JAYPCARS Yeah, Volvo XC40 plug-in is the most comparable. And the same price. But Audi, if you buy the car for cash (without loan) gives you 12% discount :)
