    towels brother and careful on glue and ball valves they will get glued or stuck in position . ::: edit::: I seen where you checked . nice work. I been in pool industry for 6 years and just starterd more above ground pool repairs since no one in area works on them. nice work brother. I dont mess with purple primer I always look for clear cleaner if can find since primer and cleaner essentially do the same thing. If I use purple i go towel crazy and clean with cleaner . had a concrete pad get destroyed by purple primer. so i figure if cleaning my joints with cleaner why not just use nothing but clear cleaner and i stil will whipe my access glue on joints with a towel thats just my ocd

    Great video! So, the big question is: How do I repair/replace this piece for an in-ground pool and you don’t want to dig the patio up? Any advice or videos would be greatly appreciated.

    • @WhitehouseFarmVet
      @WhitehouseFarmVet  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      As long as you can see where its cracked or broken above the cement you can cut it and glue on new pieces, but unfortunately if it's under the cement you will have to dig it up or if your lucky you have a 2nd line running underneath you can set up to use, just depends on how old the pool is nowadays they always run a second line to avoid issues like this, I hope this helps you out! Good luck and thank you for watching!👍🥰

    • @WhitehouseFarmVet
      @WhitehouseFarmVet  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes you should have 3 gaskets total you will need to lower the water if you are going to add one in between, also do you know for sure did you install the return? Thank you for watching!👍

    Thanks for the vid. Is it 100% necessary to remove the pipe to to the return? Could you unscrew the locknut with the pipe still on? I ask as I have a partial inground pool and I would need to cut the pipe to remove it. Also, could you have fitted the rubber gasket on the inside of the pool on the fitting before putting the fitting through the pool wall?

    • @WhitehouseFarmVet
      @WhitehouseFarmVet  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you!, as long s your water is drained down below the return you can try to remove the nut to disconnect it ,because you dont want water going in between the liner and pool, it al depends on how your pipe is connected too , also there are 3 rubber or cork gaskets 1goes on the fitting inside the pool ,1 between the liner and the wall and the 3rd outside of wall where the locknut is I think that's what you were asking let me know! I hope it helps and thank you again for watching and good luck with the return wish I could help you in person!😁

      @@WhitehouseFarmVet Ah right, just realised you put the one rubber gasket between the liner and pool wall. Ok quick question - do you think the rubber gaskets are stretchy enough to stretch over the flange of the fitting on the inside of the pool? I was thinking I could loosen the locknut enough to push the fitting into the pool a little, then stretch 3 rubber gaskets over the flange, and pull one through the hole in the wall like you did, just from the inside of the pool right to the outside, then pull another one through to between the liner and the wall.
      This way I'd have 3 gaskets in the right places, all without removing the pipe - but i've no idea if the gaskets would stretch over the flange on the pool side? If it all goes to crap i'd just end up cutting and regluing the pipe like i'd have otherwise needed to anyway.

    • @WhitehouseFarmVet
      @WhitehouseFarmVet  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's a tough one , I have never tried doing it that way, I'm not sure if they will stretch that much, and unless you have extra I wouldn't try it , might be easier just cutting the pipe and taking it off then just glue a coupler where you cut the pipe. That would be alot easier to me! Either way let me know how it turns out! Make sure to subscribe and share it helps out!! Good luck!!!!😁🐐

      @@WhitehouseFarmVet Ok, success! Well, mostly. Easily stretched the washer over the fitting on the pool side, although couldn't work one through to the outer side as the gap was much too tight. Stopped the leak on one jet and reduced to very slow drip on the other. Should easily get me through to the end of the season when I can drain the pool and do a proper job. I should say this is on my pool stairs, not the pool wall - so I was only dealing with one layer. Surprisingly little water leakage while doing the fix despite not draining. Thanks for the advice and good luck with the channel!

    • @WhitehouseFarmVet
      @WhitehouseFarmVet  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Just remember some manufacturers have different ways of setting gaskets make sure to read your specific instructions for whatever brand you buy! All should have a total of 3 gaskets! Some brands will have different mixes like 1 cork 2 rubber, 1 paper 2 rubber, and 3 rubber, some require 1 in pool 1 in between liner 1 outside, others 1 inside and 2 outside etc , so for whatever brand you buy follow those instructions! Thank you for watching and have a great summer!😊

    • @WhitehouseFarmVet
      @WhitehouseFarmVet  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You dont have to, if you got the leak to stop by tightening then just leave it and monitor it for future leaks and if that happens then yes use teflon and pipe compound, but I always do just because it may seem overkill but I would rather overkill with no leaks then leaks with nothing! You got this!, drop me a line anytime if you need more help!👍

    • @WhitehouseFarmVet
      @WhitehouseFarmVet  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Also it's not glue!!! it's a pipe compound that is brushed over the fitting where it screws in it basically seals the fittings and prevents water from leaking

    What is there is rust around the whole? How do I fix that to stop the leak?

    • @WhitehouseFarmVet
      @WhitehouseFarmVet  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If it is surface rust you can sand it the paint and prime it then put new gaskets on and hook everything back up, if it is falling apart or rusted through unfortunately you will have to replace the wall or just deal with some leaking unfortunately, some guys do put a new piece of sheet metal in and rivet it then drill out a new hole but its alot of work and I'm not sure what you would be able to do. But either way I hope this helps out and good luck and thank you for watching!👍😁

    You put the cork gasket inside the pool?

    • @WhitehouseFarmVet
      @WhitehouseFarmVet  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You can put it inside or outside it wont make any difference, his pool had paper gaskets which you could see pretty much wasted away, at least cork is meant for water think of thousand year old wine bottles still corked! , I have also seen some pool returns where instead of putting a gasket in between the liner and wall they just put 2 on the outside which never made much sense so that's why I always do 3 one on inside liner, one on inside wall, one on outside wall and never have any issues!

    • @xpert1111

      Cork gasket does not go inside the pool

    • @WhitehouseFarmVet
      @WhitehouseFarmVet  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You are correct! Unless the return comes with all cork gaskets or 1 rubber 2 cork, they use to use all cork for returns it's all really the manufacturer, but as long as you have all 3 gaskets rubber or cork in the proper place you will not have any leaks!

    can any help me repair few leaks in my filter hose pump? it a white hose that connects to the water going into the pool someone cut it with a lawn mower my kids are sad 😥

    • @WhitehouseFarmVet
      @WhitehouseFarmVet  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That stinks sorry to hear that, you can plug your return that goes into the pool then put your filter on closed then you can use a electric saw or hand saw to cut the sliced piece out, then use a 1 1/2 inch coupler and use primer and glue to connect the 2 pieces back together. You can get the coupler and glue set for under 10 bucks at lowes or home depot! It's really not to hard to do, you can see what I'm talking about in this video but I use ball valves to connect the 2 parts you would just use a coupler!

      So your talking about where the pipe from the sand filter connects to the return? I think if that's correct then you can get a plug for the inside of the pool return and then take the return pipe with fitting out, load it up with teflon and pipe compound and screw it back in but just be careful not to screw it in too hard it is plastic and can break so be careful, or if by tighten it up already like you said you did and it stopped then you should be all set!
