Mickey is in the public domain next year, 2024. Which means you can use the character to do whatever you want, and Disney can't say no.

I still have yet to see the transforming supermodels, but I am quickly losing patience. I'm to the point where I want to buy a copy of every animated movie and tell Disney to shove their pens/pencils up where their main streetlights don't shine.
I have yet to watch the little mermaid remake (my favorite princess after Belle) because of how bad they've been doing.
They got away with sleeping beauty, the jungle book, Cinderella and beauty and the beast (literally only complaint I had was Belle wasn't wearing a pair of stays and they put her in a Prom dress as opposed to an actual Baroque Style gown), but after that....
Mulan was essentially a Chinese western. And they mangled the original telling as far as I can tell. It's a cash grab and you can tell, well, only if you understand Chinese culture and back then ARMOR WAS Expensive and why tf would you drop your FAMILY ARMOR!!!?!? And the fact that they essentially said the equivalent of blood the whole movie. (Her blood was so strong! {Chi} Her blood makes her different)
And from there it's all been not good. And I'm done with Disney almost

I like the cast, especially Rachel. What I don't like is the deconstruction of classic European folk tales. If we took a classic Hispanic or black folk tale and made a movie with white actors in their place, I dare say it would be equivalent to crossing the streams in Ghostbusters. You know: "Try to imagine, all life, as you know it, stopping instantaneously and every molecule in your body exploding at the speed of light." Cities would burn. And I mean that literally. I am glad that Zegler's interviews have allowed a proper translation of the trailer. For example, when she says in the trailer, "I am Snow White, destined for a journey of courage, love, and self-discovery," we know that she means, "I hate Snow White, but I will reinterpret that scary fairytale so that I will portray a stunning and brave feminist who "don't need no man" 'cause I am the "bestest ever" just the way I am." For some reason, Disney can't stop making this movie over and over again.
