U2 is an institution and their catalog runs deep. Lot’s of great radio hits that many are familiar with, but once you get into their B sides and live stuff.. endless gems 🤙

This is my favourite band, and it's hard to choose a favourite song. It tends to change every year XD If you want to check something more recent, try Kite and Every Breaking Wave.

One of the tricks to the edges unique guitar sound, which I don't think he uses on this particular song, is that he uses a delay effect set at a dotted eighth note. So if he's playing eighth notes like he does on where the streets have no name his guitar sound is repeating in between the notes he's playing, which helps to create his signature sound. The edge is a much different type of guitarist than a shredder like Eddie van halen. He is very creative with his use of effects and very melodic in his style.

He definitely uses it on this song!

U2's guitarist'The Edge' took using massive delay FX to a whole new level. Great track from what for many was their most creative phase i.e before the millions started rolling into bank accounts. My of my few favourite more recent releases is 'Vertigo' - pure out 'n out rock. I know you'll love it and yeah, the video's mighty fine too.

Loved how happy you looked and sounded when you suddenly realized you knew the words and tune, and started to sing along. ‘That’s always a good thing’ if I may paraphrase Martha Stewart.🤘

Favourite song of theirs would have to be where the streets have no name (not sure if you've reacted yet). Just captures their signature sound and is such an amazing live song. Highly recommend a live version from the 80s such an uplifting and powerful song

Funny fact: This song was formerly going to be about Bono's wife, Ani Hewson (or: Awi Henson, IDK)!! But, after all the sudden, the song is about Polish political "theme", called Solidarność. And, this was them first single from WAR album (1983).
A lot of WAR songs are mostly-impact/talking about politics and some war stuff (expect the "40", which is basically them variation of the "Psalm 40")!!
And, "Pride (In The Name Of Love)" was the first single from them next album THE UNFORGETTABLE FIRE (1984).

All of U2 is amazing!! But WAR IS THEIR BEST ALBUM!! It shows them young strong and not yet pop stars! Here they are fresh out of the punk rock scene and so very talented and full of great insights about the world!! Do more early U2! You will not be disappointed!!
