Nestled within the dormant Koko Crater on Oahu's eastern shore lies a hidden gem - the Koko Crater Botanical Garden. This 60-acre sanctuary boasts a unique microclimate, perfect for a surprising array of plant life. Explore arid trails teeming with vibrant cacti and succulents, witness the explosion of color from bougainvillea and plumeria, or wander through meticulously curated collections showcasing the rich flora of Africa, the Americas, and the Pacific.
Did you know the crater itself has a fascinating dual identity? The Hawaiian name for Koko Crater is Kohelepelepe, which translates to "scraping the back of the crab." This evocative name likely refers to the crater's shape, resembling a crab's shell with a long, steep backside. So, next time you visit, you can appreciate the beauty of the garden while also picturing a giant crab scuttling across the landscape!
The anamorphic video is a Hollywood touch for your screen! Imagine squeezing a wide scene onto a regular film frame. That's what a special lens does. Then, during playback, the image magically stretches back to its widescreen glory, revealing more of the director's vision.
Our filmmaker Roman Khomlyak embarked on a trip to Oahu in winter 2024, where he decided to test the video capabilities of his iPhone 15 Pro Max. During his visit to Koko Crater Botanical Garden, he also experimented with the special Freewell 1.55x Gold Anamorphic Lens. Setting up his equipment on the DJI RS 3 Mini Gimbal Stabilizer, Roman took a leisurely stroll through the garden. Now, you have the opportunity to virtually experience this serene walk in crisp 4K HDR quality!
