some tall sticks with orange paint on top works a treat for a solid ground "road" guide - we would go into the shed for old tobacco sticks - just push them into the ground - they can stay year round
Your attitude is spot on gal. Keep going. This is always a shite time of year. When the weight gets heavy, just look at the kids. I reckon they're doing pretty well.
Not sure if you could even get the trailer up on the tops, but couldn't you leave a full load of bales up at each feeder and save oliver running up and down for each bale every day?
Personally, I'd be tempted to fit a winch to the front of the can-am and either take a post and mell/heavy hammer or a crow bar to knock in the ground to make an anchor to pull from. It's just an idea.....
You're the best Sam I love your TH-cam channel your farm rocks looking forward to seeing a lot more you need to put a winch on the front and back of your side by side God bless
I love watching your subscriber numbers going up! I haven't been around sheep, only dairy cows and goats, so seeing the sheep leap always cracks me up. I'm sorry your day was kind of mucky muddy. Keep smiling!

Just a thought sam but what about dual rear wheels on the can am ? Sure Oliver could knock some brackets up ? Might help a little bit but could be wrong

use a fork to load up the beet ........much easier on you than bending down to pick up every single beet ......a beet or potato fork is best but a 4 grain fork is better than nothing by a long way ......
If ya going to get stuck ya might as well do it properly sam haha lol but yeah I know what you mean when it goes wrong. It does. You could have a John deere gateter on demo with tracks on to try it out

sorry if i'm asking a dumb question but if the bags of fodder beet are the by-product of sugar beet.......why not just feed them the sugar beet on it's own ........the bulk sugar beet sounds like it's a good price where as anything thats in bags is always expensive.
Hi Sam your little man Jim is a great little lad and you and him are a lot of fun so don't let things get you down you keep smiling and have fun all theway my girl and you always get one driver that can't wait 😊😊😊😊😊😊
You are doing great getting the sheep fed even with a bit of mud games thrown in to get you stuck. There's no point in going to Lamma if you aren't looking to buy something definite or look at something specific. Keep on posting the bad muddy experiences as viewers like to see the real world of the hill farm.
Is Jimmy off nursery whenever he chooses now ? Someone else asked about the silage and hay bales ... why not leave a pile at the top of each field when the ground is ok in late summer rather than trying to move these on the winter buggy ground ?
@jimmyjohnstone5878 we are just carting them back now. And would make a mess taking them up. It's not to far. And they won't be there forever no he goes Monday and Friday. EVERY WEEK !!
Have the neighbors planted the fell where swales went? Or is that you planting it? What’s your thoughts on the fells being planted maybe Oliver could tell us about how it’s changing the land scape?
Bonjour . My name is Al fahy. I recently viewed a video of yours where you asked a ? if it's possible for your children to continue in farming. My story 20 yrs ago I left Ireland with my family and started farming in France .to make a long story short maybe there's a Future (here or there).at a much cheaper start up expense with better security. PS now my two sons and wife are full time farmers. just a thought. All the best ..
Hi Sam. Why don’t you do what other TH-camrs do ….. have an Amazon wish list, a members channel for a small fee, buy me a coffee, or the details of a local supplier who subscribers can buy feed for the farm from. All easy ways subscribers can donate to the farm!
@heather8303 I never thought of them! I have a buy me a coffee thing. That really helps as it goes into a seperate pot and used as and when for little things. I will look into the members and see what extra I need to do for that. I just feel awful asking 😕 iam a giver not a taker🤣
Hi sam, oliver is correct a lot of what you learn at lamma is how to go bankrupt. All the posers walking round with cameras, telling you you on you tube and can't farm them self. Dont worry about the vat you will get it back at the end of the quarter the cattle are growing in to money dew to greedy people. You are lucky you don't have to pay business rates on your bulidings and vat on all products you have to sell i have to do on my farm but I am far better off than you. Yes I have been were you are and still work 365 days a year in all weather and longer days, I think the answer is to think out side ofp the box 24:00
I only want to say what SUPERB positivity you have in your day to day life, we the public are not worthy of what you guys do to earn your living, I really felt your frustration in this video but you know you always bounce back because that's all you know and I respect both of you for Trying to earn a living and providing a good family life for them too. I just wish we could help you out more too.. Thanks for the honest content !! Nb I found your buy me a coffee, so I did, one for All of you !!
Is there any problems for the ewes when feeding fodder beat on the hill? I noticed you chop it in other videos and now you don’t? Love the videos aswell keep them coming.
Chop it for the cheviots . These swales are up the fell an easier just to take the buggie and quad. If we got tractor stuck everyday that be a nightmare lol 😆 so pop it in buggje
Oh Sam the ups and downs of farming, you were cross with yourself for getting stuck, I can understand that you’ve got things to be getting on with. As for going to lamma it’s just depressing seeing all the things you can’t afford!
Dont ever feel awful about asking viewers to buy you a coffee/ Amazon wish list etc. If people want to help, please let them. Then, one day, you can always forward when you are in a position to do so. As for getting stuck,a few winters ago my hubby was stuck for hours . It was a sudden blizzard, going along a country road on the way home from work. Even going slowly he couldn't see the road and got caught in snow/ mud. He had to be towed out, when someone came along to help. He then bought some portable traction mats off Amazon. They were if I remember about £40 but has helped him out a couple of times since. I dont know if they would work for your vehicles but you or Oliver will know x
You and Jim always have fun, no matter how the day goes. Pleasure to watch🤣👍🏻🤩🌸
@heather8303 oh yess we find the bright side 🤣🤣
I agree with hubby on Lamma ... how to go broke buying machinery ....instead go to the local for a pint of plain!
