  • PART 1. This is a very special video for us as it's the VERY FIRST one made while we are living and traveling full time in our caravan. It's literally our dream come true and we are so excited to be sharing our journey with you!
This video will take you from Melbourne to Devonport on the Spirit, into Ulverstone, back through to Grindelwald and up Jacob’s Ladder on Ben Lomond.
It was a real struggle to try and build the Chev during COVID and it's still not finished. Bits were added on during our 5 day stopover in Melbourne before we jumped on the Spirit, things were made and fitted during our first stop in Launceston and there is still plenty more that needs to be done when we get back to the mainland. But what we have is incredible and does the job even better than we could have hoped for. Stay tuned for our build video which we will be filming once the build is complete. We will do a canopy run-down soon for those of you who are interested in what's inside our GCI Traytec Canopy and how we are finding it now we are actually using it.
We hope you enjoy episode one of our Tassie adventures. Please leave your feedback in the comments below, share your Tassie adventures with us, let us know where you think we should go and most of all, if you haven’t been to Tasmania, start planning your trip! If it’s simply not possible then we hope we can bring a little bit of Tasmania to you.

Excellent vlog for first episode. When I was in Australia in 1973 the UTE was the pickup of the time which was about the size of a Ford Ranger. Your vehicle is great and would be good in Canada. You have a fan from British Columbia. I am in NW BC 5 minutes from Alaska. All the best and I am subscribed. Gary

Hi guys....... You mentioned the Motorcross track.
I have some history of the Motorcross track.
The first Motorcross track near Penguin was called Jaro Park.
My brother used to race at Jaro Park. The club was called
    Coastal Junior Motorcross Club.
The club had to move their track to it's current location........ Which is Blackwood Park....... The reason for the club had to move was because of the people who lived in the vacinity of Jaro Park, were complaining about the noise from the bikes, so the council said that the club had to find a new location.
My father built the original Blackwood Park track........ My father used a bulldozer to construct the track....
I sometimes rode on the bulldozer with my father.
My brother didn't race on the new Blackwood Park track.
Since then the track has been done for some reason......... The track doesn't look like what it used to.
    Some useless information.

Useless but very interesting! So many tracks have been closed down due to residents complaining 😑

Gday guys , I’ve just subscribed to your channel .. dig your content. I’ve had a quick look to find your reasons for choosing the chev, and it’s and canopy build , but couldn’t find it??

    • @AussieDestinationsUnknown
      @AussieDestinationsUnknown  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Hi and welcome! 😁👋🏼 We haven’t done our build video yet as the Chevy is still not finished! (Thanks Covid 🙄) but it should be done when we are in Melbourne Aug-Oct (again Covid dependant!) We did do a blog post on the GCI Traytec canopy on our website though 👍🏼 We chose the Chevy because it’s built to do the job and it does it very well and is like a 4x4 limousine! Super comfy with all the luxuries. We are pretty heavy so we needed a capable vehicle.

I read this ‘In 2020, Spirit of Tasmania, announced it would move its Victorian port operations from Station Pier, Port Melbourne, to Corio Quay, Geelong. The company has signed a new 30-year lease with GeelongPort to relocate to Corio Quay in 2022 when the Station Pier lease expires.’
