People say that these guys are like the Second "Beatles".... after listening to tons of live and studio recordings, I think they are Right. I saw the Beatles on Ed Sullivan and nobody else has made as much difference and changed the Sound so Damn much.. Amazing Foursome!!!
My favourite performance from The Smiths, all members are at their best here. Meat is Murder era was definitely something else, I wish I was alive to witness this live irl, I bet it would’ve been so much more ground breaking and incredible seeing this show for real! The love I have for the smiths is eternal
I was at this show. I just looked it up to see if there was any footage. This was the best show I have ever seen in my life hands down. I was a huge fan them and was 16 at the time. So much fun and joy. Awesome
😂❤the roar and whistles of the crowd during Barbarism begins at home was magical! That BASS! 🥵 I'd give up so many yrs of my life to have been there. I feel so blessed this was recorded.
Rest in God's arms Andy, your music will forever live in the hearts of all Smith fans around the world The whole band is pretty amazing on this concert, but the bass is just daaaamn
I will add that the last song went in for so long and the band members left the stage one at a time. The crowd was going crazy the entire show. At the end the stage was filled with fans and security didn’t know what to do. Morissey and Marr were super chill with the crowd. It was a love fest and we all knew that night was special.
This is one of the best Smiths gigs I have ever heard, and I've listened to well over a hundred at this stage! Amazing setlist with some surprising inclusions/sequences, some of Morrissey's best-ever live vocals, Johnny's guitar rings clear and true like a bell, the rhythm section are bang on form and the audience sound well and truly there for the taking. Thanks so much for sharing, this is wonderful x
Thanks for posting! They opened the previous night with William, It Was Really Nothing. Andy Warhol was at these shows and was signing people's t-shirts on his way out after the show
I caught this Tour in 1985 at the Hollywood Palladium and that show was an absolute stunner. It was also the most insane crowd I'd seen at this particular venue. I mean, I'd see The Cure, XTC, Simple Minds, Bauhaus, TSOL, "X", and to many more to mention.... The Smiths were a great band in everyway and not to many people can say that they caught the band live, especially here in the USA. This is a great recording of them in their absolute best. LOVE IT!!!
Uno de los mejores conciertos de todos los q hay es el mejor ojalá no lo bajen con lo hicieron con el anterior el new York es uno de los mejores en audio .
So cool that you posted- but I think the title is incorrect, they played at The Beacon on June 17 and 18. I was at one of the shows, still remember the balcony shaking!
What type of audio did you use to record this GREAT! sounding Smiths Show-Any memory that stands out to you the band sounds like they were on fire-Moz singing with gusto and music wise band plays real tight. Thanks for posting shows a Stand Out for us Smiths fans.
I used a Walkman with a small external mic plugged into the input. Reviewed the show in my fanzine at thx time: facebook.com/share/WSRD8ysArs95oq1K/?mibextid=WC7FNe
RIP Andy Rourke --great musician.
Word.
The drums are also incredible on this bootleg.
